I had asked my dentist on several occasions when I could get my retainer remade and she would always tell me "soon," but it never happened. "Soon" never came and my teeth shifted. Here I am now and I've found myself in braces again. This time I've chosen to do Dr. Nirenblatt's version of Invisalign. I've had them since October 2019 and it's January 2020. I can already tell that my teeth have moved to where I want them to be, but the science of it is showing I have a little bit more time to go before I can go back to a retainer. I'm okay with this because the N-liners have been great. You can't even tell I'm wearing them unless you're looking for them or you pay that close attention to teeth. When I first started with the N-liners, Lauren did a wonderful job of coordinating things with me and answering my many questions. Dr. Nirenblatt was even in touch with me when he found out I was having trouble with the N-liners in the very beginning. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. They did a cleaning, x-rays, and for three hours, the dentist fixed my dad's tooth and drilled another cavity. They are money hungry and are not treating dental hygiene in the correct way at all, setting you up for failure needing more procedures and robbing you of your money and health. It's been a nightmare finding the right dentist in Charleston but I have never had one beg me to stay as a client and then turn around and 5 days later have the police call me about a no trespass? HUH? So I came in for a routine cleaning after 3 months and saw the same hygienist as the last time. She was nice the first time and of course like I said that was 3 months ago before the election. Dentist did crown work before and I informed hygenist that I would be going to Mexico because Dr. Ammons was not able to do what I needed. So idk if they are mad about that too or what. It's mind blowing that I asked to leave as a patient and then they retaliate in this manner. So the officer manager decided to ask me about the election when I came in and she seemed as happy as me about it. Well the dental hygienist all of the sudden became extremely rude and mean during the visit and the only thing that made any sense was that she heard us talking about the election. After the cleaning I was very adamant to the office manger, Kelsey, that she needed to have a chat with that woman because this was ridiculous. I left and then called back to say "I don't want to be a patient anymore, as I just cannot believe your staff treated me this way." Kelsey assured me it was "just that day" as if the hygienist was having a bad day, and really was begging me to stay as client. I made some hypothetical just like Trump said about Liz Cheney and 5 days later the police are giving me a no trespass! LMAOO! at no time did Kelsey seemed alarmed as she kept trying to keep me as a client after this comment was made. We ending the call as fine keep me on the schedule but I would like to go another office, but I had really planned on going to a new dentist. However, they have soo much turnover I did not even think this hygienist would probably be there in 3 months. I'm sooo lost by what they tried to pull than they are covering their back for liabilities issues which totally could have been avoided with allowing me to leave as a patient as I asked. LMAO! it's almost too funny to believe. I was like what threat is she referring too? Do they have this on recording? I really am shocked instead of simply calling me to say ok we can part ways, they made it a trespass issue and I still have not sent me my records. Apparently the cop said they don't want to press criminal charges. For what? LOL I'm dying to see them try. I guess they thought some rookie cop was supposed to intimidate me? who knows but this is not over. They just made it worse after trying to defame me to the police about a threat that never happened and Kelsey knows it! Again this was 5 days after the cleaning happened. So it must have become some internal battle of needing to defend one employee vs a patient? however I'll give them a week or so to formally apologize before legal action is taken. This was soooo strange that someone would cause this much pain and anguish and anxiety to a patient that was asking to be discharged! Again I'm giving them a week for a formal apology however everyone needs to learn to be careful about this dentist office in Charleston. They all gossip and want your money without truly helping or making you feel like you're in a good environment with staff who cares. Stay far away from Ammons Dental. They gossip like no other and unfortunately I don't think Dr. Ammons understands what happened here so I won't say it's him until he is ready for mediation. Medical Malpractice is that big in the dental industry everyone so understand where you are going for dental work before you go to them! I don't know how people do it. Dr. Ammons and his staff have guided me and GPS'd my upper and lower jaws, inserting 4 implants in each and creating the most beautiful and effective teeth I've ever had. If only they could make my face look as good as my teeth! I come back twice a year now and once a year they remove the teeth and clean and replace them. Yesterday was record time!! Jesus was really on his game and he & Denise really work well together. While it did feel good to volunteer here, I hated it for the children that were unfortunate enough to have to be in the hospital. The parents were very thankful for the food that we brought and served, saving them from the cafeteria food they have had to endure while their child was there. It was great to see them smile, knowing that people really do care. The hospital itself is very nice and they do their best to make a child's stay in the hospital as comfortable as possible. They had all sorts of games and toys; and an indoor playground for the children. The staff here seems to really be on the ball making sure the kids are cared for and that everything is kept clean and sanitary.

Let me begin by stating that my issue is with Dr. Hilton. The rest of the staff was incredibly helpful, nice, and accommodating. The dental hygienist that has done my dental cleanings during both of my visits to your office provided the best cleanings I've had. The week before my appointment I requested a prescription for valium to take during my appointment due to the fact that I do not handle the drilling when I get fillings well, and was not in a financial position to pay $85.00 per half hour for the nitrous gas. I have taken both Xanax and Klonopin in the past, and did not experience any relief in anxiety with either of them. I spoke with my psychiatrist who, unlike a dentist, specializes in these types of medicines and he stated that in some cases patients do not respond to benzodiazepines. As I had never tried valium, I thought it might work to calm my nerves and anxiety for this appointment because it was the more affordable option. I took two 5mg pills forty-five minutes before my appointment, and was still just as terrified before and during the procedure as I would have been without the medicine. I didn't feel drowsy, or out of the ordinary. On the drive there, my husband commented that I didn't seem any different than usual so he was confused as to why he had to drive me. During my visit, multiple times, I told various staff members that the valium was not doing anything. I know they relayed this information to Dr. Hilton because I heard one of them tell him as I was lying in the chair and unable to respond or defend myself due to my mouth being full of equipment. His response to the technician was, "oh.. she's definitely feeling it," and then looked down at me and said, "hellllooo.. are you with us?" to which I responded with a nod because I was unable to speak. I was completely lucid, aware of what was going on, and incredibly anxious. Once I was able to speak, and prior to the drilling, he asked me why I was so anxious about the procedure. I stated that it was just something that had always made me anxious, and I wasn't sure why. He then proceeded to say to me, "we do this stuff on two year olds all the time, and they're not scared. Two year olds can handle it." 1) Two year olds do not have the mental capacity to understand what is about to happen to them, therefore they do not have the ability to be scared, 2) That was an incredibly condescending, demeaning, and rude comment to make to a PAYING customer, and 3) people do not necessarily need a "bad experience" to have a fear of something. There are plenty of people with a fear of heights-does that mean that each and every one of them has fallen off of a mountain, therefore creating that fear of heights? No. During my dental cleaning and prior to my cavity fillings, I was able to have a completely normal conversation (when my mouth was free of tools) with my hygienist despite having already taken the medication that Dr. Hilton seemed to think was affecting me despite me stating otherwise. As cleanings do not bother me, I was calm and alert. Once I got into Dr. Hilton's chair and witnessed him blatantly IGNORE and DISMISS my worries (what "doctor" dismisses a patient's concerns??!), I began shaking and crying involuntarily because I was terrified and ANXIOUS (you know.. anxiety.. the thing the medicine that wasn't working was supposed to help with) about the procedure. As I was already numbed and there, I opted to stay and get the cavities taken care of, but will NEVER return. I requested the nitrous before Dr. Hilton began, and he didn't even respond with a yes or no. He simply moved forward with prepping for the procedure. Upon leaving your office, my husband commented on the fact that I seemed incredibly anxious and that I didn't appear to be out of it at all despite the valium. Additionally, I felt the same and would have been entirely capable of driving myself home had he not been there. When I got home, I researched whether or not nitrous and valium could be mixed, AND called my primary care doctor to ask if there are any adverse effects of this mixture. Both my doctor and my research confirmed that the two could be mixed. While I am extremely frustrated that I sat through six fillings crying, shaking, and tensed up when I could have been given nitrous, my main issue is with the treatment I received from Dr. Hilton. I don't know if he's just been in the business too long, and has stopped remembering that the patients are the ones that pay his bills at the end of the day, or if he just doesn't care, but I have never experienced such blatant disrespect from any type of medical professional.
