I've been working with Heather for a few months as my Intimacy Coach, and I've had some really nice success with growing my intimate relationships. The encouragement and acceptance I've experienced from Heather whenever I disclose something vulnerable during our sessions has helped me to de-shame a lot of things that I've not known how to express, and as a result I've been learning how to then express those vulnerable parts of myself to my friends. 10/10 Recommend Heather. For starters, she is warm, trustworthy, and so easy to talk to. She is the best reflective listener. She listens, asks questions that make me think deeper, and rephrases what I've said in an elevated way. I always learn things from her! Whether it's new vocabulary (maybe I didn't have the words to express what I wanted) or a new framework, I'm able to more concretely tie emotions to concepts. She has taught me many skills, the biggest ones being showing up in empathy and deepening connection. Essentially growing and deepening my relationships with others. For example, my partner's son passed away. Not having children of my own and never having lost anyone close to me, I felt stuck on how to connect with my partner, show empathy, and be the support I wanted to be. Heather was able to help me change my definition of empathy. I didn't need to live the *exact* same experience in order to be empathetic. Instead, she gave me a new model to consider; how I have experienced loss, grief, and sadness from other parts of my life, and that I can be an empathetic support. She gave me macro and micro solutions; big picture how to draw upon the experiences I do have to connect with my partner and more in the weeds specific phrases / sound bites I could use. It's really helped to deepen my understanding of my partner's and partner's family's situation, as well as strengthen our relationship. Another example has been my relationship with my dad. He's someone who has always made comments to me about how he prides himself in not having / not needing friends. When we talk, it's because I call him, not the other way around. From this I just felt that my dad probably just doesn't have much need for connection. Heather asked more questions about my situation and intuitively knew that my dad, like just about everyone, does yearn for connection. She gave me tools to connect deeper with my dad on the phone, instead of just talking about technical work challenges (we're both in the same profession). She taught me how to connect on statements that "speak his language" (eg use "operating system" as a metaphor). I mentioned to Heather how my dad does help me solve a number of things, and I do appreciate it. So she taught me how the anatomy of a *specific* validation statement, which is better received / more appreciated than a blanket "thanks." I have been able to connect better with my dad, and we have long conversations that go beyond just debugging work problems. In conclusion, if you want to elevate your relationship with yourself, your partner, your friends, your family, any and all of the above...talk to Heather!
