They screwed up my treatment and medicines, so I had to have a medical practice correct their incompetence, an expensive inconvenience. Note that these are merely nurse practitioners, not actual medical doctors, whose training is far more extensive. I came here only for the convenience but will never return. I will see actual medical doctors for future treatment. I suggest that you do the same to avoid the dissatisfaction that I experienced.

From the moment that 'Dr.' Mayberry entered the room, she spoke to me like a robot. She spent more…read moretime looking at her laptop screen than me. In fact, she never even examined me! During her 'conversation' with me, she agreed with my condition (informed to me by PC) and stated that there was no treatment or cure and that there was nothing she could do. She then asked 'Do you have any questions for me? You seem upset.' Of course I had questions and was upset, but I was in such shock at how cold and impersonal she was that I could barely speak! I had done some research before my appointment and learned that there were options for me and was hoping that this 'Dr.' would offer them to me. I left in tears. The worst part of this experience is that she entered INCORRECT information on my record. She wrote that she discussed options for me 'at length' , AND, if she had physically examined me, she would have reported predominantly my LEFT hand, NOT MY RIGHT! Insurance company is investigating. Laura, the acupuncturist behind Open City Healing Arts, is completely exceptional. She's so kind,…read morewelcoming, and attentive. Rather than other CSA (community supported acupuncture) clinic's practice of the 5 minute chat, and then generally hitting some of the usual points, she will talk to you throughout the process, finding the exact points that have an impact on your problem. If I could give her 6 stars, I would. I recommend Laura to anyone who's nervous about acupuncture as well. Her chipper mood and demeanor make you feel like you can tell her anything -- very important if you need to talk about any old issues/injuries that might be uncomfortable to talk about with a stranger. Add to this that her location is so ridiculously convenient, and you've found your acupuncturist. She has 'open room' days (shared acupuncture room with other people who are generally asleep or otherwise don't bother you if you don't bother them) as well as a private practice. I can't recommend her enough.

The very first time I visited Laura at Open City, I realized she had the absolute best tableside manner that I've ever encountered. She genuinely cares about her patients and their wellbeing. The doctor (sorry completely unmemorable, so forgot his name) seemed fairly distracted. I understand I mentioned I wanted wait until my new med. ins. kicked in for a full battery of blood work, but I assume that basic blood work is covered with the annual check up that is part of my plan. It wasn't until I was walking home that I realized I had had no blood work done. I called back to inquire why and the receptionist check with the doctor who said he wanted to wait until I had my new insurance. Not that I hold alot of sway to offices, but this one was kind of like a rental car waiting room, in the basement. And while I was waiting some guy was listening to language tapes loudly w/o earphones. In my opinion the receptionist should have told him to take it outside. After about 20 min. of that I had to ask him to put earphones in or take it outside. Kind of a waste of 2 hrs. of my time all around. Certainly a useless apt.
