Acupuncture is based on the movement of Qi (pronounced "chee"). Qi is the life-giving energy that…read morecirculates along channels to all organs of the body and enables them to function. When the Qi in the body is abundant and flowing freely, you thrive. If your Qi is depleted or obstructed, symptoms begin to arise.
During the initial visit, Dr Xia performed a physical examination and pulse diagnosis, inquired about my medical history, as well as what specifically my health concerns were that I seeked acupuncture treatment for. This is when your concerns are heard and understood in the context of your particular life situation. Acupuncture looks at everything about a person, including lifestyle and stresses as well as symptoms. On my first visit information, Dr Xia determined the underlying qi imbalances influencing my well-being. This holistic evaluation is very important because even though two people may suffer the same complaint; the qi imbalance causing it is often different, reflecting the unique circumstances of each individual.
I have suffered numbness on my legs for about 18 months, initially I did not mind, it was just a weak feeling of discomfort, it went to pins and needles affecting my left leg then it escalated to my pelvic area eventually to both legs and it was painful, if I sit on the toilet longer than 2 mins my numbness became unbearable. I had seen an orthopedic doctor for low back pain accompanying my numbness, he said there was nothing that could be done w/o surgery which was too invasive and out of the question, he said just to take NSAIDs, geez, I could have told him that. Then I went to a neurologist, a waste of money, I then went to an acupuncturist in Little Saigon, he charged me just $25 per visit but he used big needles and it was too painful, he obviously didn't know what he was doing, all I felt was excruciating pain, he sold me barfy herbal products, I hated it but took it for 2 week, it was totally useless. I knew I needed a good acupuncturist, I checked everyone in OC, many didn't speak English and that worried me, furthermore, they all wanted to charge $90 per visit, why so expensive when there are so many in town? Beware of charlatans!
I had a free consultation w a slick fast talking guy, he was more like a televangelist, I almost went w him after seeing amazing before after pix but I somehow had a gut feeling that some pix might be fake. I wanted someone w a medical background. My late brother a MD from Paris, had given me acupuncture treatment for mouth ulcers after all else failed, the huge ulcer disappeared literally in front of my eyes.
I ruled out chiropractors, it seemed like ineffective science and I know people hurt by chiros' neck breaking treatments. I just wanted to give up then after scanning 100 acupuncturists I came across Dr Liqun, he was a MD from China, he practiced 5 years in Goettingen, My German husband said Goettingen was a town w reputable medical school, wow, it was one of the best days of my life. Dr Liqun is a courteous doctor, he is patient friendly, has great customer service, bedside manners, he spoke perfect English, I trusted him the 1st minute I met him. My 1st treatment did not do much but the 2nd one a miracle happened, for the 1st time I had no numbness going to the bathroom, only a weak vibrating feeling not sharp pain, he is also so reasonable, so kind, not greedy like the others, he was truly a Godsent doctor, I feel so grateful, I also have severe insomnia and other ailments but I have to be patient, he will treat all my concerns after the numbness is 100% resolved. So if you have any health problems, esp after everything was ineffective, what do you have to lose? I have a medical background so I know what a good practitioner should look like and be knowledgeable, I highly recommend Dr Xia, a solid 5 stars from a long suffering patient.
