I just took a CPR Certification class today that was sponsored by the company I work for... The class was taught by Karen... She is simply a fabulous instructor. The two hour session just flew by. One minute the session was starting, the next thing I realized she was wrapping it up. Karen has an amazing and infectious energy that is transmitted to everyone in the class. The class is very well organized and even fun. Karen has decades of service with the Santa Clara Fire Department. So she is very experienced, dedicated, passionate, professional and despite it being a Saturday morning, really seemed to be enjoying herself! I've been needing to renew my BLS/CPR certification for awhile now. My cousin recommended me a place through a friend she just met, Lori so I decided to check this place out. Place is kind of hidden, limited parking or you can also park on the street. This place is very clean, and cute haha I had the privilege to meet Lori very briefly, the owner, and she was really sweet. I took a class with my cousin. I think this place is new because I've never heard of it before and there's not many reviews on Yelp. Our instructor is Njoki. She was very friendly, welcoming and entertaining! I love her. She made you feel comfortable. The course was supposed to last 3 hours but it goes by really fast and you won't use up all the time. It was more like 2 hours for us since it was a smaller class plus the information from the videos can be redundant. My cousin and I were the only students for that class which I loved! I learn better in smaller groups. I don't like crowded classes. I know the one on Meridian always has bigger classes. You watch videos and then you do the hands-on party right after or along with the video. Njoki repeated the main things you needed to know on the test you took at the end so it stuck with me. I was worried about that part because it can be a lot of information to take in especially if it's been awhile, your first time, and that they change every 5 years or so. Be ready for a workout! I was out of breath and my arms and fingers were hurting haha My arms were sore for the next 3 days. We went through adult CPR, infant CPR, choking, AED Use and took a test at the end. Don't worry about failing. There's 25 questions, and they're pretty straightforward. The videos repeat and bold the important parts on the screen. Njoki also tests us along the way and repeats the correct answers and also reviews with questions on the test. Place was very clean. It was very cold that day and the place was heated so I was comfortable. The class was very fun and informational. Njoki was a great instructor. Prepare for laughs, an intense workout, and prepare to be extremely out of breath from all the chest compressions and counting out loud. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. The fee was $75! It is cheaper than other locations in San Jose. Will becoming back here for my renewal haha ! read more

My American Heart Association CPR card recently expired and I was searching for a place to retrain. I was referred to Heartready and was able to schedule a class with Lori for the next week. Lori's class was a good mix of video and hands on instruction. She went at a pace that was comfortable and was also very open to answering questions. Go elsewhere. I have never left a negative review (or a review in general for anything), but this place has tested my patients. I paid around $95 for the CPR and First Aid class because it was a college requirement prior to graduation. Although I took the CPR class, I never received my certification card and I was never given further instructions for the First Aid class. I've called multiple times, I've messaged them on their website, and tried following up with the emails we previously had. It's been close to two years and I've heard nothing from them, maybe this will get their attention....but I doubt it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere legit like the American Heart Association or the Red Cross because they will actually honor what you pay for. read more

After reading all the great reviews on Yelp for HeartReady I contacted Lori and she set up a special class to accommodate our schedule. This place is a little hard to find at night. My husband and I were the only ones at this session. Lori was great. She went over everything we needed to know about CPR/AED for infants, children and adults. She answered all of our questions and we had a lot of hands on experience. Lori told us that we could attend future classes for free and even borrow the equipment to practice at home. I just recently took the adult/infant/child CPR and AED course with Lori at HeartReady. The class was on a Friday night and I was the only student - Lori was nice enough to continue with the class one on one with me. Her instruction was excellent and there was a lot of time to practice with the dummies. This is my first time leaving a CPR class truly confident enough to use my skills in the real world if needed. With the class (which was very reasonably priced and was only 2 hours long) I got a 2 year certification. First time taking a CPR/AED class. I had a great instructor. She was friendly and energetic and she took the time to answered all of the questions to clear up any confusion. The class took about 90 minutes and it was very informative and easy to learn. She covered the steps to take in an emergency situation. You get hands-on practice on a dummy so you get a feel of how to administer CPR. The course also covers the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and when /when not to use it. The instructor came out to my work site to teach the class which made it even more convenient. It's a small price to pay for a potentially life saving skill. read more

I sent an email a couple of days after the training asking when we'd get our cpr/aed cards Lori literally sent an email back within 24 hours responding to me. I probably could have asked during the class. ANYWAY, great class, super easy, I've taken CPR/AED several times 3rd time getting recertified and this was the first time I felt compelled to actually find out where the AED's in the different facilites that I work at are located. HeartReady was the perfect place to complete my CPR/AED training. The class was super engaging and I felt comfortable asking questions about potential scenarios. The setting was in the super cozy and charming cottage and the trainer offered the perfect amount of didactic. This was totally different from past trainings where you sit in a cold sterile room and read from a boring book and fight to stay awake. This class was super hands on and surprisingly fun. When the trainer mentioned life threatening situations some of her clients had been in and shared the people's symptoms I decided to ask her about some strange heart palpitations I'd been having lately. She asked me if I'd had a slew of symptoms and since I did she offered to take my blood pressure right there on the spot. I found this to be incredibly responsible of her and just demonstrates how passionate she is about saving people's lives. Excellent CPR and AED course. It consisted of videos and hands on training with dummies. The instructor, Lori, was very energetic and she had some great stories to share. This course does not require a test at the end, which is okay with me. I would rather spend the time practicing the techniques--interestingly enough she has you do compressions to "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees because it helps you maintain an appropriate cadence if you compress to the beat. I just took a Heart Ready class w/ Lori and she was great. I have 3 little kids. I want to be ready in case anything happens, at swimming pool, if they choke on something, etc. I signed up w/ Heart Ready after seeing the great reviews. Registered for the CPR adult/infant course, completed part of it online, then met with Lori to get the hands-on skills. She was energetic and knowledgeable, corrected me when I was doing something incorrectly, and patient in answering my questions. I was lucky enough to be the only one in the class on a Friday evening, but Lori would've been just as effective in a bigger class. I learned how to use an AED when before I'd always thought those little red boxes behind the case were only for emergency workers. She also gave me practical tips, like how can we realistically carry around a mouth shield in case of emergency. I ended buying from her some key chain rings with a tiny pouch holding a mouth shield - great idea. I highly recommend Heart Ready, and I'll be using them again in the future. read more
