Me and my finacé did a self guided tour for these apartments. The N building hallway and stairs smelled like body odor and mold.Also by the end of tour, we were covered in fleas. Absolutely disgusting. We are not sure where the fleas came from but we suspect that it was from that hallway. Not sure how the residents can live in this kind of environment but if you are looking to move in here, I would not recommend it. read more

The apartment itself was beautiful and spacious but the management was horrendous, not only did they try to tell me my emotional support paperwork was "not good enough" for their legal team but we were forced to move out with 14 days notice all because someone on their side messed up a new lease agreement (that both tenant of the apartment had already signed by the way). We had signed an agreement for a certain amount and when we noticed we were charged 500$ higher and I asked them why they had basically said this is the rent pay it or leave cause we won't be going by the agreement you signed. So far we've been living here for about 5-6 months. We love our place! It's spacious, it's nice, and perfect for us. However the paint job is terrible, the kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets are patched up in order to fix removed paint, the carpet wasn't new when we moved in, part of it was already torn, but that wasn't hard to deal with, whereas the guy at the office is very unprofessional. We had told him that we wanted to move to a closer assigned parking spot since it has been vacant since we moved in and nobody has parked in it, we have 2 children under 2 and walking a far distant from our apartment to the car in the rain and cold is a recipe for illness, anyways, we had asked him, he said he'll let us know. Little did we know we informed him of an empty spot, and the next day there was a car parked there. Its very unprofessional. The car parked didn't even have the parking permit with the spot number until 2 days after it's been parked there. We've been eyeing that parking spot for a long time and finally built the courage to request it from them and this is what we get? Shows how much they value their renters. read more

I've only been here a month and every unit is different, this is just my experience. So far, we love it. It's an apartment in Everett so the usual things apply. Very noisy road, noisy people in the parking lot at night, parking sucks and some furnishings are old and stained. However, the staff is wonderful. Even with the shut down and them not being on site full time, they're very involved. There's a community online page they keep active on, they've answered every communication and maintenance request incredibly fast. Every issue solved and handled quickly. The maintenance man is amazing. Friendly, honest, and quick. Which, after everything is said and done that's what matters.. the living experience. Only down side we've had is the apartment was dirty when we moved in, but we moved in when all the companies were closed. So we didn't put too much thought into it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. Parcel lockers, secure buildings that aren't filthy, maintained lawns and green areas, dog park, trails and woods and did I mention the awesome maintenance guy? Definitely a 1800/month value for these two bedrooms when renovated 1650 without. No regrets and very excited to be living here. read more

Beware! Things are not what they appear here. I rented short term, for three months at this location. Please note the three month duration. I did not sleep in the bedroom I rented, nor did I move any furniture into the unit, because I wanted to wait until I permanently moved. The carpet cleaning lines are still visible from when I moved in. I approached the managers on site, Rachel and Ian not once but twice. I stated I wanted to pay in full what I owe and give notice I was moving out. This computation is a moving target for them, until they try and gouge you for cleaning and other strange calculations. The bottomline, here is you cannot trust what they say. They showed me a leaf on the entryway as a visual evidence of leaving the place dirty. I asked Rachel, would it do me any good to hire a cleaner before I leave. She said no, they charge everyone. So, I was willing to pay their $200, even though I lived in this place such a short period of time, it was like new in a couple hours of cleaning. They wanted to charge me over 125% of their quote. And they are completely inflexible. I told them to send it to collections. The method they have of collecting utilities is very odd. You will get a bill from the utility company and if you pay it, they will bill you for it a second time. Dont get caught in this apartment complex of lies and dealing in bad faith. Look elsewhere. Hearthstone apartments were a great first time renters experience. Crystal in the front office is so helpful, nice, resourceful and patient. She made sure we were taken care of, and answered all of our questions. Maintenance personnel are probably the best in the State of Washington. They took care of any issues the same day we put in a request. They are super fast and extremely efficient. Make sure you pay attention to your contract and listen carefully when it's explained to you. Everything is super clear and to the point. They also give a sweet discount if you work for Boeing so make sure you ask for it! read more

We see how the apartment grow in terms of providing us a comfortable life living here.The people in the office are very nice and friendly, they are accommodating and understanding to our needs. I lived here for 8 months. My primary annoyance is that you do pay a lot for a very basic apartment. Mine was not upgraded at all. I know other apartments have stainless steel appliances by I did not. Speaking of appliances the d*$m dishwasher was craptastic. The dishes would come out with food particles on top of them. So i would hand wash them first and they would STILL get food on them. Come to find out the food is coming from the garbage disposal. Every time i ran the dishwasher water would run up in my sink on the garbage disposal side. I called maintenance and they said that, that's just how it works. The carpet was old and gross when I moved in; it was clean but a dingy brown color. The indoor lighting is very poor as others have said. On sunny days the natural light is gorgeous but this is Washington state for Christ's sake. It rains for damn near 7 months straight. I don't think it would hurt to put a light in the living room. Also, I saw some else mention the break ins. IT WAS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. In the 8 months I've lived here I've run out of fingers to count the number of times it's happened. The gate at the front is virtually pointless when there's trails all around the property that connect to roads and other properties. Parking has gotten better although it was a nightmare when I got here. They are in the process of fixing it. However, the reports of being nickeled and dimed are 100% true. They will charge you for every single thing they can think of and it gets outrageous. On a positive note: I do LOVE the office staff. They're the absolute sweetest. Truly. They're not the reasons for all the sucktacular things; it's the UDR bastards that own the property. read more

Even though I just moved into Hearthstone, I think it is safe to say this place is pretty great. I moved here from out of state and Ian was great at keeping me updated on what was available and getting me into an apartment I loved. I had a few maintenance issues when I first moved in due to the renovation but the maintenance crew was on it. They were super fast and efficient, the first time they were here less than 5 minutes after I called in the problem! The official five star came this morning. The snow brought down a tree in front of my apartment and the leasing office called to let me know so I could move my car in case the tree next to it came down too. Great to know that they are looking out for me (and my car)!. read more

I have lived here for 5 years and the management and office staff were great. Until about 6 months or so ago. The new manager Mario is a pompous jerk. When inquiring about a package that HE signed for on December 1st, 3 times i lost it. I stated this was the 3rd time i had been in for the box, showed him the confirmation email stating HE SIGNED FOR IT and i needed the box. I stated it was a Partylite box. I shit you not, he grabbed a Partylite box "looked" at it and said that wasnt it. Then with a dumb ass smirk on his face said, well you need to take it up with UPS. Just because it says i signed for it doesnt mean its here, i sign for 90 packages. I swear, those were his exact words. Then said in a snotty pompous voice , but you're more than welcome to go back and search for it. So, i went back determined to look at every box in there, low and behold, the Partylite box HE PICKED UP PREVIOUSLY and "LOOKED" at, was MINE!! So i use the word looked extreamly loosly. Here is the best part, in Black and White on the shipping label is says my Aprtment number, yet another apartment number was written on the box. IDIOT!! As i walked out with my box he looked me dead in the eye, with the same bullshit, cocky smirk and said, we looked at that together. Ummm, NO, i said YOU LOOKED AT IT. This may sound minor to some, but the amout of money we pay here, not just for rent, but for all the extra bullshit $20 for our 2 cars to be on the premisis, even tho we dont have a guaranteed spot to park, we still pay $10 per car just to live her, the rent is outragous and not worth it by any means. Dont waste your time or your money at this place. Unless they get new management. read more

Mario seems very professional until you have a problem then he will turn and smile at your misfortune. Do you wanna pay an extra fee for literally everything? Then this is the place to move! $35 fee to pay rent online? $10 parking that isn't even guaranteed?! a tiny little play area for the kids that usually has dog poop all over? Kids not allowed in the grass areas because of the amount of dog poop? If this doesn't deter you then by all means let Mario swindle you into a money pit. This apartment is truly awful, worst I've lived in yet. The first year we lived here was great. But they change property managers quite often. This apartment will do whatever they can to get money from you. Dont have pets or everyone will complain about you, especially if you have a big dog everyone will fake complaints and the office will harass you and not even ask if it was legitimate or not. Dog poop everywhere and never any parking. They "implement" changes but never follow through. Moving out is the worst part because they will literally make up hundreds of dollars worth of charges, they put on ours that they did a flea treatment on the apartment JUST BECAUSE WE HAD PETS!!! I've never had fleas in my life. They also wouldn't let us continue living here because we had pets. Upstairs neighbors are loud and community is inconsiderate on the weekends, lot of parties. They nickel and dime you for everything so if you do move out or decide to live here I hope you make a great income. They dont consider life of carpet when it is installed so be prepared to pay for a replacement when you move out. Rachel was the worst employee I've ever dealt with in the office so be careful with her, extremely rude and unprofessional. Overall, very superficial community, might look nice but people will attack and threaten you and when you finally move out you are dirt broke. WARNING/DONT DO IT! I wouldnt recommend moving here! Looks good to the eye but very cheaply built! I HAD TO GIVE 1 STAR BY DEFAULT! !!!!!! They did allow us to use the pool at our convenience! There are secure entrances and regular 3rd level apartments that require stairways to enter and depending on if you are on the main level you will hear footsteps that will sound like someone is coming through the wall and ceiling. The tenants above me have like 7 people living with them! So this has been a nightmare for us. We try to speak to the leasing center and the tenants however no resolution. The tenants just claim they dont know what were talking about and the other tenant blamed it on his kids but still allow the noise to get worse. 3 kids running around all day sliding down the stairs etc. Add 4 adults to that constantly stomping around. I believe someone sleeps/lives in the living room as well. They are loud all day and night long! No consideration or respect for anyone else-there is nowhere I can go in my apartment for piece and quiet! Leasing office doesn't seem to care; they claim quiet hours start at 10pm! What is this madness? Anything for a dollar! I dont understand how they would make a top level available for 7 people let alone 3 kids! Makes no sense to me. I just moved to this state 3 months ago and I do not like it here at Hearthstone at Merrill Creek! EXPENSIVE rates for HORRIBLE quality!!! Parking is horrible! Every time someone in a different apartment flushes their toilet there is noise of pipes knocking/within the wall of my apartment! Dog poop all over the community! Near the woods so I see rats all the darn time. Front gate always gets stuck! FAR from a market.... I would say 5 miles!!!!!! VERY POORLY BUILT COMMUNITY! read more

Upon moving out we were left with our final bill, I understand the cleaning, painting , carpet fee although priced high but when I send you an email letting you know we never had two mail keys that we only had one I would expect you to believe me. $50 for a mail key we never had??? This was the absolute worst experience with apartment management that I have had. At first, we were impressed with the professionalism and the willingness they had to work with us from across the country to find a place for us. Little did we know, it was probably because they were losing people right and left and were desperate for new move-ins. Once the papers are signed and you're stuck, any professional courtesy you may have come to expect goes out the window! I have a large list of grievances, but I'll only list a few. First off, there is dog poop ALL OVER the community. As far as we could tell, no effort was made (no signs or anything posted) on the management's part to keep residents in line. Do they not realize that is a public health concern? Secondly, the parking situation is awful. We did have a garage, but needed to use it for storage (because you wouldn't believe the lack of closet space in these apartments) so we didn't park in it. Unless you pay for a covered spot, it's best to never leave the apartment unless you do so between 9 am and 2 pm, after that, your parking becomes impossible. Third, the management staff is extremely rude, not to mention uninformed. One day our "secured access" door wasn't working and I was locked out of the building. I went to the office to notify them. The girls were standing around the couch talking casually and looked annoyed that I had interrupted their precious discussion time, but they told me they would send the maintenance person over and in the meantime I could use the other access to the building. I asked if it was the same code and they informed me that it was. I went in put in the code, and it was not the same. So I went back to them and told them it wasn't the same and one girl looked at me and said, "It's the same exact code. Only one building has two different codes and it isn't yours." She was very rude with her tone. So I went back to try again and after getting quite frustrated the maintenance man showed up and I told him my plight. He informed me that the code was not, in fact, the same as the other and told me the correct one. We had many issues with this complex, but if I could rate one thing very high, it would be the maintenance staff. They were always quick, reliable, and friendly. I really liked them. It's too bad their bosses weren't on their level. In short, I advise you to look elsewhere to live in Everett. It isn't worth the money here. read more

Pretty apartment complex, everyone seems nice until u move out. Walls are not well made, you can hear everything from the neighbors and outside. Location is good, easy to access the free way. There were break in other aprtment with garage. Thankfully our unit didnt have any break in. Parking is teriable, its first come firt serve. Unless u have garage or carport. Talked to the worker about our moving out and explain that we need blinds replacement and she told us the cost. She said the moving out fee will most likely be $15 just for the blinds replacement ( 4 edge of the blinds got bent and torn ~4inche) since our apartment was clean and left in good condition. Moving out fee is rediculous. They charge us $150 for painting fee. We did not hang anything on the wall or made any mark on the wall. None of our furnitures touch the walls. If they want to repaint the wall they should pay for it. Not us. When we didnt do anybdamage to it. They charge us $60 for carpet deep cleaning.... we deep clean the all the carpet before we left. If i know they charge us for it... i wouldnt have waste my time and money to rent a deep cleaner to clean the apartment They also charged $80 for other cleaning needs. We are very clean people. The only thing that need cleaning/replacement are the stove rim. But that happen with usual wear and tear. If i know they would charge that much i would have bough a new rim for the stove and replace it for cheaper price. If there were stains anywhere it from before we moved in. It also noted in the move in check list. Apparently they dont ceck our checklist. Bottom line beware of the moving out fees. Its BS. read more

We recently moved out of Hearthstone only because we bought a house in Arlington since our special needs son graduated out of the Mukilteo School District where the programs for him were AMAZING! Before moving, we lived at these apartments for 11 years and LOVED EVERY moment! Yeah, there were a few who came up to us at the pool to tell us our autistic son was too loud or splashing too much (come on, it's a pool!!) but we stood firm and and at all times, the office staff was very supportive because 1) we were not making noises during quiet hours and 2) he was not being aggressive or combative, he was just having fun with his siblings. Every time we submitted a work order, 98% it would be done within 24 hours and if it wasn't, one of the staff would always keep you updated on the progress. We have been through many changes in staff and a couple of management companies, but regardless who it was, they were always excellent in their service and were always friendly with the entire family and our guests. Despite not living there anymore, we continue to consider them part of our village as they have truly been family for our children. read more

My family and I have lived here for 4 years and LOVE it! The layout of our home is very accommodating to our needs. They have several floor plans that will fit anyone's needs. You definitely get what you pay for! Not a "cheap" property but rather upscale for the hard working middle class! Our favorite part of living here is the property staff. They are very attentive to our needs and solve any problems we may have in a timely manner. I'd like to add a follow up to my review and state that we responded to the person from corporate who replied to my Yelp comments. We emailed our concerns after speaking on the phone, as she requested, and she emailed back that management is right and we are wrong. When we called her back, she hung up on us. This is from the head of customer service for the corporation that owns this apartment. Everything she says is bullshit. I was told by an attorney that that is how it is in Washington. I've lived in six states and have never been treated this bad. On a side note, I want add that the maintenance crew is the best I've ever seen. The office staff is delightful, the community BBQ over Labr Day weekend was great fun, and the maintenance staff is not only prompt and professional but kind and respectful when they've come to fix a few small things around our place. Pretty expensive for a small two bedroom apartment (about $1,800). We weren't able to have a dining room table because of the awkward shape of the dining/living room shape. Our coded door to get up to our apartment didn't lock half the time and the handle was barely on by the time we moved out. Rachel was super nice when we were moving in and then after that became very stuck up. You have here people through the windows. I've even gotten up at about 3am to make sure the windows were closed because I could here them and they were keeping me awake. Maintenance was very nice but we had called them about our disposal not working 3 times and they somehow fixed it but it would stop after a few days. It then started leaking apartment and leaked into the apartment below us so they had some people come in to look at it and the disposal was apparently trash and had a lot of rust in it. People leave garbage outside of the compactor and dog poop is everywhere outside of our old apartment and I cleaned up my dogs every single time I let them out. I've even cleaned up other people a few time. Lastly our old neighbor who was very nice after talking to him (he made us a really delicious cake) was just concerned about our dog and wanted to make sure she was okay because when we left she'd whine because she has separation anxiety(we tried medication for her) and they marked it down as a complaint. read more

I apologize if this is long, but please read if you are considering this apartment complex. Everything seemed fine at first glance, but after moving in, I have had nothing but problem after problem. The biggest problem that I have had is the noise. There is no insulation in these walls. I can hear everything from my neighbors' footsteps to the cars driving by outside. You will spend the night listening to water draining through pipes (louder than I have ever experienced before), hearing your neighbors' tvs/stereos, door slams, car alarms, wind gusts, & hearing and FEELING the vibrations from neighbors' washer/dryers. The first time I felt my neighbors' washer running, I thought there was an earthquake. Besides the noise, you'll surely find other annoyances. My apartment clearly was not ready to be moved into when I arrived. The carpet had been cleaned, but there were many small stains left. After closer inspection and smell, they appear to be pet stains. My dryer was also in poor shape. The lint filter was never cleaned and the dryer door was absolutely stuffed with lint and animal fur. My refrigerator was advertised as having an ice maker, which it does. Unfortunately, the fridge is not hooked up to a water source, so instead of making ice, it just takes up half of the freezer space. Other problems include: wobbly faucets in both the kitchen and bathroom, dishwasher is not attached to the cabinets, so the entire thing moves when I open the door, the thermostat doesn't work (fireplace just starts and stops whenever it feels like it), missing knobs on cabinets, grease stains on walls in kitchen, poor paint job, closet doors do not fit the frame properly, cold air coming from all doors and windows, painted-over cable outlet (renders it unusable), and so many other things. I cannot list them all. Not only will you have problems with your apartment, but it will be incredibly overpriced. The rent may seem somewhat reasonable at first glance, but look for the hidden charges. I am spending over $300 more each month in fees than my agreed upon rent. You will also have to deal with people coming into your apartment when you are not home and with no warning. I have come home to my door being left unlocked by these people. It is completely unacceptable and their idea of a solution is to simply apologize unconvincingly. The office workers seem nice, but I have overheard them speaking poorly about other residents. I wonder if they say the same things about me now. It is completely unprofessional. Lastly, don't believe the pictures you see online. They have updated a few apartments for photos/tours and the rest are not nearly as appeasing. read more

The worst ever I have experienced for renting a place or apartment and a shocking list of charges that this apartment gave- Hearthstone at Merrill Creek Parkway! Or the best term to use is StoneHeart at Merrill Creek Parkway! WARNING!, don't be deceived by the good reviews for this place because if you only noticed the good reviews came from new renters that moved in to this place for just a month to few months ago! So most of those new renters in this place that posted good reviews for this apartment have no idea about what will be the terrible, disastrous, or crazy insane things that awaits them in the next months TO COME of their staying in this seems like peaceful, nice and pretty place to live in. By the way My family just moved in to this place on January 18, 2018 and now moving out as I already gave the Notice from my company to this apartment NOT to renew our lease until May 15, 2018 because of the shocking different charges that Rachel, the manager, charged to my company!
