We didn't realize how problematic Mise En Place was until we changed to another designer who actually showed up when she said she would, easily produced deliverables and samples on time, and got us out of the jam Mise En Place left us in. MEP was a waste of (a lot of) money and time, and added unnecessary stress to our lives and to our contractor's process. We don't post negative reviews unless we feel the company warrants a warning to stay away.

We had an exceptional experience working with Gwen to fully furnish our new home in Mount Baker…read more From the start, she was incredibly thoughtful in her approach--incorporating art we had already collected and using our existing dining table as a centerpiece to ground the design. She built everything out from there in a way that felt cohesive, elevated, and still deeply personal to us. Her communication, efficiency, sourcing, and design aesthetic are truly outstanding. She handled a large, complex project with impressive speed and attention to detail, and the end result exceeded our expectations. What stands out most is how livable and enjoyable the space is. We've hosted many gatherings since moving in, and both we and our guests consistently appreciate the design. We've received countless compliments from friends and family, and it's genuinely a pleasure to experience her work every day. We wouldn't hesitate to work with Gwen again and are already looking forward to the opportunity!

I hired Tanya around September/October 2025 to stage my house for sale. When the house did not…read moresell, I decided to pivot and furnish the property for use as an Airbnb. After several conversations, Tanya assured me that she could take on the furnishing project. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. She created a sense of urgency around payment right before the holidays, and I paid based on the understanding that the project would move forward. The holidays came and went, but the house was never properly furnished or ready for Airbnb use. As a result, I continued carrying the monthly expenses for the property out of pocket with no rental income coming in. Earlier this year, we mutually agreed to part ways. However, to date, Tanya still owes me thousands of dollars for services and/or work that were not completed. Her failure to perform caused significant financial damage, including months of lost Airbnb income and ongoing carrying costs. At this point, the matter remains unresolved, and legal action appears to be my only remaining option. Based on my experience, I would not recommend hiring Tanya. The lack of follow-through, financial impact, and unresolved refund issues have made this an extremely frustrating and costly situation.

When we bought our house in 2020, we knew one of the first big projects we wanted to take on was a…read morekitchen remodel. The kitchen was dated, small, and hidden behind walls. Absolutely no fun to cook in. A google search brought us to A Kitchen That Works, and Molly. After an extended phone consultation, and then an in-person meeting. The decision to work with Molly was an easy one. She was very knowledgable, and easy to talk to. We completed the initial design and planning stages in the Winter of 2021. Expectations and schedule were set from the get-go. We knew exactly what needed to be done (by us and her) and when. Molly is so in-tune with the industry...when she heard cabinet prices were going to be increased, she let us know immediately, and we were able to jump on ordering before it happened. Construction began in March of 2022 and was completed in June 2022. We were living in the house during construction (my husband working from home). The job site was left tidy each day. Molly has a great collection of sub contractors she works with, each one equally knowledgeable and as impeccable as her. And trust me, the poor electricians were really put to the test at our house! We only had a few small delays, neither of which were Molly's fault (a pandemic can definitely make things difficult). But, communication was clear, and we always knew what and why something was (or wasn't) occurring. I would absolutely work with Molly again and recommend her to anyone. She is not only an amazing designer and general contractor, but an all around good person. I will not hesitate to call her for our next remodel project. Her and Clive are now on our Holiday card list, whether they like it or not!

Known for coming in on or below budget Molly met that criteria. It's clear she knows her stuff and for those who think it's easy handling not only different tradespeople, but personalities, particularly being in a 'man's world', she ran a tight but fair ship and all the workers I talked to privately expressed their admiration for her work. As I sit here and look at all the details in one part of our now open concept downstairs, it's a package that all works: placement of windows, lighting, etc as well as choices of trim. doors, etc. And though ultimately all the choices were ours, she nudged us in areas to find the most practical and aesthetically pleasing elements. I can honestly say, each morning when we enter this space, it's a beautiful sanctuary.
