Heartattack and Vine. Had to be worth a look if only for the name, right? Right! This cozy little eatery across from the Nova in Lygon Street doesn't have an extensive menu, but you can only eat one thing at a time as I always say so as long as they had one thing I felt like eating it was going to be OK. They actually had two things - prawn brioche and porchetta ciabatta. I opted for the pork as the lady behind the counter was in the process of chopping it up fresh from the oven when I walked in.
This was served with salsa verde, a side of coleslaw, and a couple of dollops of tomato sauce and mustard. I forked some slaw onto my roll, smeared it with a generous smear of Old English mustard, and dug in. Tasty, and quite a generous serve for $15. And washed down with a pint of Hawthorne Pale Ale, a lovely pre-movie snack. read more
