If there is a thrift store in the KC area that I HAVENT been to, I'd be shocked…read more That being said, by far THE BEST thrift store in KC is Blessings Abound for one reason alone - the ritzy and lovely people of Overland Park donate all their stuff here. There are soooo many good finds! Not only that, proceeds go to a good cause, staff are always friendly, and the prices are reasonable ($35 for a Northface coat that's in pristine condition, yes please). I highly recommend! I always find something cool, and they have a punch card system (always a plus). I've found so many valuable collectors items here, vintage toys, nice clothes (again, bougie people of OP), and nice furniture. It's fun to look even if you don't buy anything!

The Goodwill bins are not for everyone. It takes a very specific, very patient, very hands-on…read moreperson to have a good day at the bins. If that's you, you're in for a treat! There are lots of great things to be found here but they're entirely dependent upon luck. You might come for days and find nothing good, then find something amazing in the first 10 minutes another time. Be prepared for dubious substances, slime, broken glass, and lots of garbage. Wear gloves if you think you need them. Be prepared for people to shove you out of the way to get something they want or, alternatively, stand 3 inches away and give you the stink eye while you dig through a bin they want to look in. As other reviewers have said, the people working there often just make up prices. This can sometimes work out in your favor but often leads to overpaying, especially if they make you weigh the cart. Whatever weight they have put in for the carts is not accurate at all and will lead to you paying extra 99 times out of 100. Seriously, this place is not for the faint of heart. Or nose. If you're a hardcore thrifter looking for your next treasure, it's absolutely worth the visit. Just make sure you bring some hand sanitizer!
