To work on my hearing aid as an established customer, they required I pay $54 up front. They don't apply the upfront fee to the total bill. I could have had this done at AudioNova for under $100. I would not recommend North Houston Hearing Solutions to anyone. I retired after being a law professor for forty years In Houston. I am a well respected resident of THE WOODLANDS having resided here since 1985 and have been, and still am, involved in the community. My point is that this review is absolutely honest. My story is simple. I purchased the best Starkey hearing aid from another provider. I wasn't very satisfied with the service, so I contacted Clarity Hearing. I wanted to get a new hearing test and my hearing aid programmed accordingly. I was charged $260 for (one hearing aid) this service which took about one hour. My other ear has an implant and I don't need one for that ear. I thought this was a little expensive, but understand they were not making any money that they would had I bought from them originally. After a week, I realized that my hearing was not as good as my three year old Phonak. I just called them, explained the issue, and was promptly told it would cost me another $130 to fix what should have been done originally. This is a TOTAL RIPOFF. They are MANY PROFESSIONAL HEARING SPECIALISTS IN THIS AREA. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Go somewhere else. REPLY TO CLARITY. For the reader, you need to read their reply. You are correct that professionals bill for their time. But, lawyers, doctors, cannot ethically bill you for the same service. I paid you to program the best hearing aid that Starkey produces. That model is their EDGE AI 24. You did program it, but I cannot hear as well as I did with my older Phonak. What does that mean? Either you did not properly program it or Phonak makes a better product. Tell me which is the answer.

The hearing aids are decent. Be sure to make sure BEFORE YOU BUY the aids that they pair with your phone which you can only do by looking on Oticon website (again I was not warned of this) and I discovered that I had over upgraded my phone and went through a lot of time and misery redowngrading. In any case pairing is hit or miss depending on the day. I was fortunate enough to have great insurance to cover otherwise this would have been very very frustrating.

Holy crap this place was really bad. Charged $50 for basically nothing…read more Initial appointment setting went fine and they were willing to reschedule me. The front desk staff were very friendly. They get a star for this alone because that was not a problem at all. I did get my hearing checked and was told it wasn't anything physical which is good. However they pulled out a manual and were trying to figure out how to work the equipment!! How scary. They were clearly untrained. One of them was an intern which I understood, but the intern seemed to be more competent than the actual "doctor." They didn't run a test on me simply because they COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW. So they gave me an alternative test that might not have been what I needed. I was then pulled into the "counseling" room... This is where it really started to break down. I was told that my physical hearing was fine (yay!) I was told that my auditory processing was messed up (I can hear 6 out of 10 things that people say when there is background noise.) She seemed to think this was satisfactory enough. She told me there were therapy options available, but it was a throw away sentence and I did not get a referral or any more information. She also told me that they work with students but because I am past that phase in my life, it didn't matter. (???) She then acted like she was done talking. I asked about my debilitating tinnitius. Because I always have background noise (tinnitius), I can't really hear anyone... the combo of the noise and the auditory processing disorder. She told me I needed to go to an ENT, as that is outside of her scope? She told me no solutions but "just ignoring it," and "never being in silence." A simple Google search shows that there are a lot of ways to fix that. My tinnitus is VERY loud. It is not just the silence that I hear it ringing, it is always. I was also told to just deal with the auditory processing issue. ??? I don't want to come to a doctor and be told to just deal with it. If something is outside of your scope, or there are therapies that can help... For God's sake, refer me! I can't just ignore my way out of tinnitius and auditory processing disorder. She was trying to empathize but the way she did it made it very clear that the "same" problems that she had were much lesser versions of what I have... I was sent away with a chart that said my physical hearing was fine, and that's it. I then mentioned my ear pain (which was on my chart.) The intern had diligently charted my history and current issues. The doctor said "what ear pain?" Which shows that she didn't even take a cursory glance at what the intern had written. She also asked if I listened to loud music because "people have given themselves tinnitius that way." Another signifier that she did not read my chart because I have had things happening since childhood and have a history of ear infections and noise damage. I told her I don't listen to loud music... A few minutes later she suggested I listen to something to drown out the tinnitius without realizing it would have to be very loud to drown out. Long story short: I can only hear 60 percent in any situation with any sort of background noise, which is apparently acceptable to them. I was given no recourse and told to just deal with it. My so called doctors were fussing with a manual on how to use the equipment and did not do one of the tests they wanted to because they simply didn't know how. Doctor didn't bother to even glance at my chart. $50 for a simple beep test, basic pressure test and playing audio with static in the background. Please go find a different audiologist. The people working here seemed to have the candor, bedside manner, and experience of someone they randomly pulled off the street and taught to do a few tests. I am getting a second opinion for sure, but I wanted to warn against anyone else going here. EDIT: The manager has responded to me and credited my office visit payment. I appreciate that they are implementing changes with the process. I will be in contact with them via e-mail to correct the issue. Because I had a really prompt response and they are implementing changes, I have updated my review to three stars.
