My regular doctor had closed his doors and looked for a repair for WIDEX hearing aids. This facility was close by and the Dr assured me that they could fix my issue. I have them my information and warranty information and she said she'd have my wire overnighted. We talked a few times because delivery was late. I have no complaints about that. When I get to the office finally, the Dr said that the number 1 wire is shorter than my number 2 wire. Well in hearing aid cycles 1 is actually longer than a 2! So after about 45 minutes she says she doesn't have a tool to fix the hearing aid. She is a WIDEX dealer! So she gave me a make shift representation of my hearing aid until she ordered the tool. Then she asked about my Dr in NYC that set me up originally and wanted my records sent to her? Then she gave me authorization forms and insurance responsibility forms. I asked what for? How much is this going to cost. $80+ for her services!!! They're under warranty. The co-pay is $20! A new wire not under warranty is $89!!! This was not my first rodeo! I left quick with still a broken hearing aid. Stay far away!

After their showing me the latest technology and how it would improve my hearing, I decided to purchase a new hearing aid, which has, indeed, worked very well. My quarterly visits now are part of my purchase price and include cleaning, maintenance, adjustments if needed, and more batteries if needed. My audiologist, Sue Clampitt, is very personable and knowledgeable. I am so glad I found them and will continue to go there even though it is a 35 minute drive for me.

However, when I went to him for a nasal polyp, he actually ended up performing two other procedures that were completely unnecessary that he never spoke of in our THREE pre-op appointments. When I signed the consent form in the pre-op room, I thought it was just the formal name of the procedure I was having done. I didn't realize until I woke up with a splint in my nose that I had a septoplasty. Technically, it wasn't illegal because I did give consent but it was completely unnecessary procedure and I am certain now that I never had to have surgery to begin with. I will always tell people to avoid his practice, but I will say that I learned an invaluable life lesson. As a patient, you have a responsibility to be your own best advocate and part of that is understanding that you are as much a person in need as you are a customer. Thankfully, I healed properly and there were no complications from the procedure, but I will never be so trusting of a health care provider again.

They covered a very good pair of aids. But the devil was in the tuning. Instead of plugging in an audiogram (while she asked for my last one, she did take another) , doing some kind of self programing scan and saying 'see you next year, that was just the starting point. We fine tuned for a few hours. Then made an appointment to come back in a month to fine tune it further, and add some additional programs to cover specific problem situations for me (driving, crowded restaurants, music listening). I'm clearly asking people to repeat themselves much, much less, than compared to any aid I've previously had, including my 2 year old top of the line I was replacing. People that have been wearing aids for decades know what a difference the art of tuning makes. And she is quite pleasant and patient to work with. I considor myself knowledgeable, demanding, and pretty hard to please.

In addition, they gave me specialized individual hearing aid tuning. This was extremely important in my case, because I have Reverse Slope Hearing Loss (RSHL), shared by only one in ~15,000 of those with diagnosed hearing loss (~15% of the population), so it is very uncommon, and a challenge for Doctors. It is a condition rarely diagnosed by Audiology and ENT professionals who might not run into a single RSHL case in their entire careers. To return to Dr. Brady and Dr. Fuchs, they cared about my hearing challenges, researched and found the most efficient hearing aids for treating RSHL, and spent a lot of time in separate appointments fine-tuning and then boosting up the bass in my hearing aids. Now I hear a lot better, feel more confident, don't need earbuds and can hear the car radio better, several notches quieter, and on my cellphone without removing my aids, and I hear a lot of sounds I hadn't been aware I was missing in social situations, inside in busy rooms, and outside at outdoor events. It's been truly life-changing having these useful hearing aids, and I'm very grateful to Dr. Brady and Dr. Fuchs for tuning them so well and making them work so efficiently. Many people say they can't tell I have hearing aids!!! Now I can hear more clearly than perhaps I ever have, and I'm in my late sixties. Having these great hearing aids gave me enough confidence to take on giving lectures about a topic I enjoy. I was recommended to this office because of the skill of the doctors. Dr. Fleming has told me to take something that wound up making my initial symptoms worse, only for Dr. Jean to tell me that the medication he told me to take would make those symptoms worse. Their communication in recent months has been lacking. They do take time with you when they see you, but Dr. Fleming just reads results to you for bloodwork as he gets it during your appointment. There's just something not as good anymore as when I only occasionally went before the membership fees started. It's too cost prohibitive and I told Dr. Jean about something delicate that was causing me pain and she said not to do that, but it was something essential. I went to other doctors to help with that issue instead, although Morningstar says that they have these services under one roof. Respectfully, they need to tighten back up in a lot of areas. Admit when you're not sure instead of give unhelpful answers that leave the patient feeling unheard. Refer your patients elsewhere when necessary. Communication amongst staff has also been weak. One tells you that Dr. Jean does pelvic exams, but her answers to pelvic pain aren't there. She doesn't know and doesn't make any move to refer you or do an exam. There are other napro doctors around. Staff also has said numerous times that so and so would respond in x timeframe and it's always something where I feel like I'm chasing down answers whereas they say how they take your membership fee so they can serve you better. It's not better.
