Right from the start of school, there were some major issues - not enough teachers, the school director wasn't on top of things, and the school was all over the place. While my child was there for about a year and a half (I didn't have other choices at the time), she went through a lot of things that I thought were really not okay. The teachers always had excuses that didn't really make sense. What really upset me was when my child came home with marks one day. She had marks that looked like they were from an adult's nails, but they said it could have been from a bush or another kid's hand. I had already talked to the state about problems before, but I didn't see any improvements. The school director and the person in charge of the area just gave me excuses. Nothing worse than your child lifting their arm and saying "dada ouch, dada ouch" over and over. Because of what she went through from the start, my child started biting as a way to protect herself from all the bad stuff. I had cameras on her all day, so I know how often it happened. But the teachers didn't seem to notice as usual. After an investigation, they kicked my child out for biting. On that same day, we got a call from a much better school nearby. Since she moved there, my child is doing so much better - learning more, talking and signing better. I really think the old school and its staff were holding her back. If I could rate that place, I'd give it a 0 for all the awful stuff we had to deal with. Do your child a favor and stay away from here.

There have been reports that a…read moreteacher told a student he could make the student's life at school "miserable," and multiple students reportedly witnessed both that comment and what they believed was an exaggeration of the student's behavior. If those reports are accurate, they deserve to be taken very seriously. What makes this especially concerning is the amount of authority teachers have. They can influence grades, write disciplinary referrals, issue infractions, and assign detentions. A threat like this raises concerns about possible retaliation, and any misuse of that authority could have a lasting impact on a student's academic record and future opportunities. No student should have to worry that speaking up or simply disagreeing with a teacher could affect their record. These concerns are heightened by Great Hearts' past oversight issues. In 2024, several teachers within Great Hearts Texas were placed on administrative leave after it was discovered that required background checks had not been completed. Although that issue was eventually addressed, it raised legitimate questions about accountability and student safety. Students deserve to feel safe, respected, and confident that concerns about staff conduct will be investigated fairly. I hope the school takes these reports seriously and works to rebuild trust with students and families.

They have become like family after all this time. They have always been willing to sit down and help us talk about how to address behaviors or attitude changes in my kiddos. They always provided advise and help to make it through biting, terrible 2's and the three-ager stage. I was able to know that every day my daughters were at school they were safe and loved by those who were caring for them!! I'm so sad to go but we are moving to a new city. And I'll say it was so hard to find a daycare that meet the standards that HCR set for me.

Once he went back to school I had tried to cancel in late July only to be persuaded to pause for a month to see if he still would need services. I asked his teachers and they said he made great progress, but additional services would not likely be needed, especially since they cost $250/mo! I went on their site to see how to cancel online and it lead me to deleting my account since the link it says to go to to cancel just has information on how to pause or change your current account. When trying to delete your account is a 2 month process, no matter how good the services are, I cannot in good conscience recommend them. Do better Varsity Tutors, do better

Im a single mom and this was a new STEM school I wanted my kid to have a better education, BIG MISTAKE!!! The school has Stranger walking around "fixing the school" but you can't walk YOUR KID to class before 730. You can only leave them at the door and hope they wall straight to class. the girls bathroom put their tissues lon the dirty floor and expects the girls to wipe with it. The teachers are always on their phones never paying attention to the children outside. My son was bullied by MULTIPLE STUDENT in his class and in their after school care (they allow all ages together and put them in a room until 630) one girl put my daughter finger in a pencil sharpener and cut her hand the teacher said NOTHING until I got there and she didn't clean it or put a bandaid on it. I brought up the incidents to the teachers and principal I was told we couldn't switch classes and slowly after that my children became targets. Every time my son tried to tell on the student (they pulled his hair called him names pushed him down) HE WAS PUNISHED; they made him move his clip and even put him in ISS even took his jacket on one of the coldest days in San Antonio (even tho other students were allowed to wear their jackets due to the weather). Their iss is CREAPY (He had to sit ALONE in the male principals office all day in the back of the school just him and this random man, mind you this is a new school we haven't known any of these teacher previously) that made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable, it felt like the principal was looking to put my son in iss for anything now, at our other school he was a star student; straight As NEVER been in trouble; thats why I wanted to challenge him with a STEM school but safe to say we're going back to our previous school and I'll be contacting the school board about this HORRIBLE schools practice.
