The most recent visit was for a facial with Emily, who's an absolute expert in her craft. Shoutout Capricorns! During your session they assess your skin and let you know what they are doing and using. It's so calming that I often find myself falling asleep by the end of it. They have private tubs you can reserve for an hour if that's more the vibe you are feeling, but you can also use the hot tub before or after your appointment to soak which is so relaxing. I do appreciate the touches of tea kettles and tea in the lounge area that are complimentary. They also have snacks and other things if you are there longer. Remedy is such a sweet serene spot right in the university area that you'd kinda forget where you are because it's so peaceful while experiencing it, and that's why I can't recommend Emily and Remedy enough.

Don't do that unless you have a 4WD and like fear - think The Shining. I saw deer too so yay. It's definitely far out from any major town so you know it's going to be special. Check in: super easy, no staff on site because it was late and off-season but entry instructions were clear and easy. Main lobby is a great lounge area with tons of games, books, snacky stuff, full kitchen, stocked fridge. Area: awesome location, near the base of a mountain with a river stream nearby. It's magical. Room: clean, super quiet, new Mexican decor. Also, I think the floor tiles were heated, which is something I didn't think I needed in my life until that moment. Other: I didn't pool or hot tub it given wintery weather but they're there. Also, there's a really old saloon Los Ojos nearby and it's the very definition of dive bar. I felt like I was in the Hateful Eight. Oh, there's the jemez springs which is also great in the winter I'll be back.

I've been to many spas in NYC, LA, Boston, etc. For me personally, nothing compares to Betty's! The ambiance is welcoming and calming, the prices are reasonable and the team is experienced. I typically get facials and ALWAYS leave feeling over the moon, relaxed and happy. The massage/facial beds are heated and all of products are organic and smell AMAZING so it's kind of like 2 in 1 aromatherapy as you're getting your facial :) They clearly state that the sauna/hot tub is additional on their website, so for the folks griping about that, it's probably best to simply read the info while booking rather than rip them for something that is stated upfront! I never expect to sauna or steam going into a facial service anyways, that just seems like an added perk/not to be expected. I digress.... if you want a perfect self-care day, book at Betty's!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE…read more They no longer offer the ability to soak as a part of your normal services, which is not advertised anywhere on their website. This is standard practice at any SPA, no matter what part of the world you are in. Doesn't matter if you are at the Ritz, Woldorf Astoria, Four Seasons, or a resort in Europe, Asia, or South America. When you go to a spa, you automatically have access to all the spa's amenities. This includes tubs and saunas. There are no spa amenities here. If you are paying premium prices, you would expect a premium experience. Keep looking because you are not going to get that at Betty's Day Spa. To make matters worse, their customer service is horrendous! One would think that, if there is a medical emergency, they would allow you to at the very least reschedule your services. They do not. Thank goodness I do not live here and can go back to my normal masseuse next week.

While, admittedly, I was looking at a physical spa experience in a surrounding that was peaceful and calm I believe they might be in the midst of doing some remodeling? I had an amazing facial and organic eye treatment by Casey and she was really great. She was very experienced, took great care and delivered a refreshing facial that I would definitely do again! I was then walked over to the nail salon where they do massage. (hence my comment about not the physical surrounding I was expecting) I had a 90 min hot stone massage with Sara and let me tell you ... in the 30+ years I have had massages - Sara blew everyone away! It was the most amazing experience I have ever had! Many times with hot stone massage it's seems the hot stones are used as an obligatory 10-20 min but Sara incorporated them throughout and it was incredible. I can't quite explain with words what made this so wonderful - it was clear that she was the art of massage, she wasn't just going thru rote motions. She was detailed and methodical and thorough and caring. I wish I could find the right words but I tell you I will be looking her up every chance I get to Albuquerque. Do yourself a favor and let Sara take away your worries for 90 minutes and feel the reality melt away.

It was clear the man doing my nails was rushed and sloppy, but he followed the steps that I've seen at other salons so went with it. One nail chipped THE NEXT DAY. What was I doing you ask? Obviously something super hard on my nails because everyone knows dip can last while, right? Wrong. I was opening my wallet. I had to file my nail significantly down to hide it. Two days later, another nail chipped. What was I doing that caused this? Putting on a pair of pants. So that's two chips in 3 days. It's now day 5 and three more nails are very close to chipping. The edges are sloppy. It's laughable this is how they perform work, but I understand mistakes happen. I call the salon and ask for a refund and offer to send pictures. They refuse to entertain it, saying it's not their policy and I should have spoken up at the time. Spoken up about...what? Should I have had a sixth sense to know my nails were to chip? Come on. They did mention they have a 2 week guarantee, however being from Chicago and visiting, this is obviously not feasible. So I guess go here any expect poor quality but if you can go back every day? Who has that kind of time? Likely won't be back to ABQ, but putting this out there for local ladies. See pics below and good luck! Update 1 - 2 more nails have chipped since I wrote this 3 hours ago. All I did was put on my coat and reach in my purse for my wallet. Such a joke. A dispute has been filed with my credit card company with plenty of proof of this poor service. Update 2 - 7 days after getting this manicure, 9/10 nails are chipped. The salon refuses to do anything. This is without a doubt the worst manicure I've had in my life. Regular polish would have lasted longer. Avoid this place at all costs.
