My spouse and I had our hair cut & styled for 2 years by Susan at Classy Clipper. Susan also gave…read moreme perms when needed; I always provide my own perm solution. When we originally stopped in to ask questions in July 2020, Susan answered our questions; she was one of 4 stylists that day in the salon. We noted on our 1st visit for haircuts with Susan how unfriendly all the other stylists seem to be. When we entered the salon for the our cuts, I said "good afternoon ladies"; & only Susan replied. Illness forced Susan to leave which we found out when we received a call from the salon informing us of just that. Our appointments were rescheduled with Melissa Hopkins. My husband's 1st haircut with Melissa left a big v shaped hole in the back of his head at the neck hairline. He wasn't happy. My 1st perm left me with a huge clump of front hair unpermed & 1/1/2" longer than the rest of my hair. I wasn't happy either. I said we should give Melissa a chance. So we returned for haircuts by Melissa. This time my spouse wasn't happy because she cut his hair too short on the sides so the hair stuck up. My haircut was okay. Quite frankly, we felt very uncomfortable in this salon; the owner & other stylists mostly ignored us; when the owner Vivian did actually speak to me the 1st time she complained about the smell of my perm. After watching how each of them interacted with other customers, we concluded that the only customers treated courteously by the owner & other stylists were born & raised in the South. We do not share that heritage. When I returned for my 2nd perm by Melissa, I asked to speak to her privately. I explained about the large clump of front hair which hadn't been cut properly or permed properly; I told her I almost returned for her to fix the problem. For personal reasons I was unable to actually do that. So I cut my hair & curled that part of my front hair myself. I told her that I was paying her for her expertise but I felt she was giving me the short end of the stick. I asked her to cut my hair before the perm & also requested that smaller rods be used. She did as I asked but not happily. After the perm which came out very well, I paid her in cash; Melissa said "I don't feel comfortable doing your hair so I'm cancelling your next appointment". I still tipped her $15. Unbeknown to me, she also cancelled my husband's next appointment too. We tried to keep our appointments together. My husband found out when he went into the salon to cancel his next appointment & Melissa said "I already did". Neither of us would recommend this salon unless it was the last salon on earth or you enjoy being ignored; or, you weren't born & raised in the South.
