Cons: 1) At the front desk, they have two price boards, and depending on how you look, they charge accordingly. 2) The massage was okay, but when I asked for more pressure, the therapist just applied more oil instead. 3)The masseuse did not follow my instructions -- even after I clearly said "no arms" three times, she continued massaging my arms. (I specifically requested only my upper back and neck, as my arms were already sore.)

If I could give Jonathan more than 5 stars I totally would…read more I had thoughts about finding someone new to help me with some lower back pain and also shoulder pain. To my surprise I happened to run across an advertisement on social media from Need for Kneading and I'm so glad I did. After I saw the ad I did my little investigation to make sure the company was legit. Shortly after I decided to take a chance and book an appointment. Booking online was easy and convenient, there were plenty of dates and time slots available. A deposit was required and of course those goes towards the cost of your service. I'm a frequent visitor to massage parlors and when I ask for deep tissue I never feel like I'm getting what I expect, so here I am giving a new place a shot. I opted for the 1 hour deep tissue. Emails with confirmations, rules, and guidelines were immediately sent, the day of a text reminder was received. Nothing was left out or missed. I showed up to my appointment, I followed the instructions as told to and everything went smooth. Johnathan greeted me and was very welcoming. We discussed my areas of concern which he does say what two areas and we got straight to it. Let me tell you it was the best deep tissue massage I've experienced. Jonathan gave attention to all my concern areas and worked on spots I didn't know where sore/tight. The studio is located in Downey and street parking is available. It's a small studio located in a building with other businesses. The studio is very functional and well kept. If you're looking for somebody work I would highly recommend trying Need for kneading, I know I'll be a returning client... monthly for sure. SYoY, Namaste.

I've only had one experience where the person helping me was much too hard and my back hurt for a few days after--since then I have been far more vocal about my needs and problem areas. I really look forward to my bi-weekly maintenance massages as I am marathon training and need the reset. Ping massage gets my vote, every time! See you in a few weeks!

Man oh man, where do I even begin? One word comes to mind: OUTSTANDING…read more From the moment I walked in, the experience was exceptional. Sorra at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. She took the time to explain the services they offer and even asked if it was my first Thai massage, which I appreciated because it showed she genuinely cared about understanding my expectations and comfort level. But the real star of the show was Nikki. Without a doubt, Nikki is the best massage therapist I have ever had--across both the United States and the Philippines. And that's saying a lot. I came in carrying the consequences of two consecutive workout days, tension headaches from work, and what felt like months' worth of stress stored in my muscles. Nikki immediately knew exactly what needed attention. She found every sore spot with incredible precision and consistently checked in to make sure the pressure was right. What impressed me most was that she didn't just provide a massage--she educated me throughout the session. She explained the importance of stretching, muscle recovery, circulation, and how tension affects the body. Her knowledge and professionalism were evident in everything she did. Every movement felt intentional, calculated, and therapeutic. She worked diligently from head to toe, and when I requested extra attention to my neck and head toward the end, she delivered exactly what I needed. She could immediately tell how tight and overworked my muscles were. Even the way she incorporated back-walking techniques felt incredibly controlled, safe, and effective. By the end of the session, I genuinely felt like a brand-new person. The heaviness I walked in with was gone. My pain and discomfort improved dramatically, and I felt lighter, looser, and more relaxed than I had in weeks. And can we talk about the balm she used? Absolutely magical. It had that soothing hot-cool sensation similar to Bengay, but far more refined and relaxing. Not overly hot, not overly cold--just perfect. Beyond her technical skill, Nikki was simply wonderful to talk to. She thoroughly explained what she was doing, shared stories about her life and her children, and made the entire experience feel personal and comfortable. She is relatable, genuine, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to connect with. There are good massages, there are great massages, and then there are the rare experiences that remind you what true expertise feels like. Nikki delivered that experience. If you're considering booking here, do yourself a favor and request Nikki. Your body will thank you. One final touch that made the experience even more special was the tea they served after the massage. Thank you, Sorra! I had to request for an extra cup. I honestly don't know exactly what kind it was, but it was absolutely delicious. I was told it was imported from Thailand, and it was the perfect way to end the session. Warm, soothing, and incredibly flavorful--it complemented the entire experience beautifully. It may seem like a small detail, but it's those thoughtful touches that make a place memorable!

We did the couple massage with hot stones and added the eucalyptus oil and foot scrub. The rooms are separated with curtains instead of individual rooms, but it didn't affect our experience; however we did go during a weeknight where it wasn't as busy, and I could see it being distracting when there are more guests. From the moment I arrived, Mateo made me feel completely comfortable and welcomed me with the welcome package I booked. I decided to add on myofascial work for my neck, shoulders, and quads, and WOW... best decision ever. He somehow knew exactly where all my problem areas were and went straight to work. No guessing, no wasted time...just pure relief. I will officially no longer be going to those Thai massages where they stomp all over me .
