I want to express our deepest gratitude for the Virtual Family Program by Tim this past weekend…read more You saved our son through your Windward Way Recovery in Newport Beach and you have provided solid support for us. You provided a 2-day support program for families through Tim Arrigo CADC-II and being part of the session felt like we'd been given a year's worth of understanding and perspective in just a short time. It was truly life-saving for us--like someone throwing us a lifeline just when we needed it most. Thank you for the compassion, clarity, and hope you offered. We left feeling supported, grounded, and far less alone. What you're doing makes a profound difference, and we are so thankful. Shout out to Shaun and Tim Arrigo, CADC-II

The person doing my "intake" asked me which program I was here for - I told him nobody told me and shouldn't he know?? The admissions person I spoke with over the phone said I would have "chef made meals". I was dropped off at a Vons with a $75 gift card to buy groceries for the week. As someone with a dual diagnosis, this was incredibly misleading and resulted in me not eating for 24 hours. The same admissions person said "the home i would be in would have shared rooms, but plenty of bathrooms". I arrived to the house which had 1 bathroom shared among 7 women. Sadly my time here only lasted 18 hours due to the fact that what was described to me over the phone was the exact opposite of what i walked into. Don't waste your time here. "House manager" or any WWR employee was not at the home I was assigned to when I arrived. It was 4 hours later that she showed up and was using her vape as a pointer while showing me the house rules. Not a single person here was professional or helpful - they just want your money. Bedspread on my bed was also COVERED in stains upon my arrival.

AKUA became my support and lifeline at a time in my life that I needed it most desperately. Great…read moreprogram and facility. Kind, knowledgeable and skilled staff who truly cared about their work and their clients. My case manager, Candace, had a way of making it all feel a lot less overwhelming. And my therapist, Gabby, gave me space, and the safety to explore the healing that I needed, without shame or guilt.

Review for AKUA Mind, Body, and Soul - Newport Beach…read more I am writing this review to warn other families about the extremely unprofessional and dangerous way my son was treated by AKUA Mind, Body, and Soul. My son was scheduled to be admitted to this facility. I informed AKUA ahead of time that he was heavily intoxicated. Despite this, they arranged for him to be picked up by Uber and transported to their facility. I personally spoke with the admissions/front desk staff, who reassured me that this was something they were trained for and that everything would be fine. I was later called and told that he had arrived and was admitted. Approximately 4-5 hours later, close to midnight, I received a call from my son. He was confused, disoriented, aggressive, and did not know where he was. He told me he was somewhere in Newport Beach near a hospital. I immediately contacted the hospital. The head nurse informed me they had found my son asleep in the hospital parking lot, without identification, with no information about why he was there, and no report from any facility. They had no idea who he was or how he got there. What I later learned is that AKUA decided his blood alcohol level was too high to accept him. However: * No one called me to inform me of this decision * There was no professional medical handoff * No one from AKUA escorted him inside the emergency room * The hospital was not notified why a confused, intoxicated person was left in their parking lot He was effectively dumped outside, in an unfamiliar area, in a medical emergency state, without identification. To make matters worse, I later spoke with a supervisor at AKUA who confirmed that they had my son's wallet, containing all of his vital information. I asked for it to be shipped to me. I have called multiple times since then. No one has returned my calls, no wallet has been sent, and no one has told me what other belongings they are holding. This is not just poor communication -- this is a serious safety failure. When a facility accepts someone, even briefly, they have a responsibility to ensure that person is left in a safe, supervised environment, especially when alcohol intoxication is involved and death is a real risk. I am disgusted by how my son was treated and by the complete lack of accountability afterward. I cannot believe this occurred at a facility that presents itself as professional and reputable. Families trust rehab centers with their loved ones' lives. AKUA failed that trust completely.

This facility is extremely biased and unsafe in its approach to recovery. They make wild…read moreassumptions about patients' pre-existing health and have their doctors back them up and make claims "as facts." This facility almost killed me by refusing to call 911 for an ambulance and told me I would have to physically get up, check myself out, and call 911 myself after removing myself from their property. I did eventually make it to the hospital, 2 weeks later, but not by ambulance. Being unable to walk for almost two weeks, and getting worse by the day, I had finally decided that leaving the facility would be better than suffering and being abused by the staff. An uneducated lowly babysitter employee forced me into their vehicle to go to the hospital. The executives did not want an ambulance coming onto their property. This happened while I was suffering from a parasitic spinal infection that would have killed me if untreated longer. As it was I was nearly paralyzed and spent 2 years unable to walk after the 6 months of daily treatment that I needed to recover from their neglect. 6 months being hooked up to an IV drip because the staff chose to ridicule me for assuming it was "drug-seeking behavior." They think people will fake being paralyzed for weeks to get pain medication. The entire staff is unprofessional and this facility offers a sociopathic level of care. Truly, the only patient care this facility offers is the care of whether patients have enough money to cover long-term treatment. A recovered patient means no repeat business. All they want is to collect insurance payments and will find any way to increase your cost. Such as by having the clients perform lab tests for drug testing almost every day. This isn't to protect the integrity of the treatment but is done to bill your insurance more because they have their lab equipment and everything billed goes to their companies. Do not trust their doctors. It seems like the doctors are investors and only care about the profits, not the patients. I had to receive 3rd party care to get adequate treatment throughout the entire time I was checked in. When I finally did get checked into the hospital, Rock Solid Landings had me "checked out" of the facility and cut off all further communication with me to reduce their liability. I am a physically disabled individual and had traveled across the country to be in this specific program. Traveling was arduous and painful, so to be abandoned at the hospital with only a cell phone was very upsetting. The clients that want to recover will want to find a safer space. A lot of the patients are locals. Having access to cell phones means clients will sneak people onto the property for drugs and sex. The drugs will be snuck in often and the patients that want help will be ostracized for trying to be involved in their treatment planning. This might as well be a concentration camp. This is not the way to recover. AA is free, and outpatient programs are safer. Find somewhere else to go.

We don't know what he overdosed on yet. We are awaiting the toxicology results but we have our suspicions. I will be speaking to other kids about addiction, I hope that I can save other lives. If I can just save one... He did have a heroin addiction (again, not sure if that was what he overdosed on), Did you know that there is a huge percentage of people that leave rehab after being treated for heroin addiction and then dying with 24 hours because they use the same dose they used before they were detoxed. I am sure my son didn't know that. I know my 20 year old son was responsible for his own actions and my review is based on the actions of the staff. From the start the staff were misleading. They assured me that my sons pain mgmt problems would be addressed even though they are an holistic center. I was a massage therapist for several years and believe in the holistic side if it is used. My son NEVER had the treatments he was promised. I know detox is painful but after detox he continued to be in pain. He went to the hospital more times than I can count. Towards the end of his treatment they finally admitted that he shouldn't be there. His case was too intensive. There was only ONE PERSON that ever returned my calls from there in the two months that he was there. His counselor. She was amazing and typically returned my calls within an hour if she was working. The center was great about calling when it came to wanting money that was for sure. The pharmacy they used was rude. They called and asked for authorization at least six times a week but when I asked what I was authorizing for they had to call me back. They just had an amount not the name of the drug. It would take another few hours to get that call. I would NOT recommend this treatment center. My son also did not recommend it. We didn't get much time to talk but what conversation we did have when he was there and the short time he was home he didn't have much good to say about it except for he loved his counselor. He didn't like the different stages and moving from place to place. OH!!! He called me about a week before he got home and said he was outside because they were fumigating for BED BUGS!! He didn't bring them home but we had to take extra precautions when he got home. In closing, I am sure this will not be read. I am sure that they will find a way for this review to be removed or hidden in less time than it took me to write it. I hope that isn't the case. I hope that I will deter one parent or person from going there. The staff is misleading and I don't believe anything they say (except for my sons counselor).
