Decent place for acupuncture. Two things I disliked: 1. Not much privacy when speaking to the acupuncturist. Anyone in the waiting room could easily hear when you're discussing your health history/concerns. 2. Not the most relaxing space. For me, acupuncture should be a relaxing experience. In the room I was placed in, I could hear people coming in and out of the office, as well as the acupuncturist taking calls. There's no ceiling connected to the walls in the rooms, so outside sound isn't really blocked out. The lighting, however, was nice. Overall, the experience was alright. The acupuncturist accepts different types of insurance, which makes this place accessible. The acupuncturist was also professional and efficient. In other words, if ambiance doesn't matter to you, then this place will probably be just fine. If ambiance does matter to you, then I'd recommend finding a different place. read more

I've been athletic all of my life. I'm middle-age and still hit the gym regularly, doing weights, cardio and always stretching as I still practice martial arts as well. While I've had pulls, aches and broken bones I have never experienced back pain. But six weeks ago, every time I got out of bed in the morning and put weight on my right leg, it felt like some stuck a sword in my side. I gave my body time off from the gym and just did light stretching, but that didn't seem to help. Mornings were the worst, but over the course of the day, the pain would lessen and I could move around without too much pain However, a week ago Friday, I got out of bed and couldn't stand up straight because the pain was crushing. I had to literally crawl on all fours to get to the bathroom. Suddenly, a ten foot walk seemed like an impossible task. My wife had seen Dr. Hu a few months earlier and had been telling me to go. On this day, I finally called her and she was able to see me last on that Friday. She took notes about my problem, and thoroughly questioned me. Soon after I was in an examination room and Dr. Hu started treatment. I had 4 acupuncture sessions ten years ago for tinnitus, but it had little effect, so I didn't know what to expect. But I had enough pain to try it again. 45 minutes later, I was 85 % better. I slept well that night for the first time in a long while. The next morning, when I got out of bed, I still had some tingling, but was able to stand and walk slowly to the bathroom without crying. I gave it a couple of days and I was still about 85 %, so I went back the following Tuesday. Now, I'm about 92-95%. Between the coronavirus and this, I decided to give my body some down time. My mornings are almost normal, but not quite there. But the pain is more like a 2, instead of a 10. I will give it another week and assess my body and may go back for a third time. Dr. Hu is a very "in-tune" healer. The more specific and honest you are about your "pains", the more she will be able to help you. I highly recommend Dr. Hu. She is knowledgeable, kind, and caring. She is a good listener and is honest about what things acupuncture works on and what it doesn't. Although I believe acupuncture is helpful and have been to several acupuncturist over the years for a series of treatments for variety of things, the results weren't all that successful. I've been suffering from acid reflux for a few years. Western doctors tend to prescribe meds rather than trying to find the root of the problem. A friend suggested going to see Dr. Hu. Dan Mei is a very patient and very knowledgeable, she was able to pinpoint my mothers problems after a short conversation. 30 minutes and my mom's pain in the back was gone. She is a true healer!!! What a gem finding her. I came here with severe low back pain and barely able to walk. I also had sore throat, cough, and all my body ache everywhere. I searched yelp and she was the closest one from my place so I gave her a try since I couldn't drive a long way because my back pain was so hurt. She was very care and attentive and listened very well. By the moment she did her accupuncture, I was able to walk, bend my body and move around!!! What a miracle! She also did accupuncture for my cough and sore throat. After this point I noticed another problem of my back pain, this time it was hurt when I pressed it, but not when I moved around, she mentioned it's different but she helped me, adjusted her needle and fix the problem too!!! I don't know why I'm practically the only one here who's not writing a rave review of Dr. Hu, but I did not have a good experience. I went to her for treatment of long-term pain from shingles and had three sessions. I did not find her to be a good communicator as she did not take the time to explain much of anything to me. I also found her knowledge of American medicine to be somewhat lacking. She said several things to me which didn't make a lot of sense and left me scratching my head, such as what foods did what to me and what not to eat. What really did it for me was when I asked her if it was all right to take a pain reliever such as Tylenol when my pain got too severe, and she told me no because it was only temporary and that I needed a permanent cure. I found this totally incredible, and I should have asked her if she also believed I shouldn't take my prescription pain medication, which I unfortunately failed to mention earlier. I called her to terminate my treatment at that point and am now seeking another acupuncturist who can communicate effectively with me as well as treat me for my issues. read more

When I got there the Dr. greeted me and while I was filling out the documents, she walked me through what goes on with my nerves. I saw Dr. Hu for the first time yesterday. Having experience with various acupuncturists in my life, I can say without hesitation she should be classified as "superior" in her field. First off, she takes her time to try to understand what the root is behind your ailments. Next, she takes time with the treatment. I was with her for 2 1/2 hours....received needles on both the front line and back side of my body and also was cupped. Some of the points can be painful, but it is a necessary evil in order to let healing occur. I've been with acupuncturists who were conservative with sensation and I did not find the treatments to be effective. (no pain, no gain is applicable) Finally, her prices are very reasonable. I left my treatment feeling amazing and look forward to subsequent treatments. read more
