We spent most…read moreof our time at our friends lake house, but we did get a little bit of time to walk around the campground and enjoy some of the Lakeside views. We opted to Moveto a full hookup sore which is further from the lake. The sites by the lake only have water and electric and we would've had to unhook and visit the dump station unfortunately so a full hook up site was way more convenient. We were insight 62 which is nice because it has a large grassy area. We paid $70/nite- I know they have better rates for longer stays We did have a picnic table and a fire pit and had a little bit of time to sit outside and enjoy it There is a really nice camp store and they do have some frozen items for warm-up along with s'mores and toys and shirts, and such Out in front of the office in store is a Beautiful lakefront area- they have Adirondack chairs sit here so you can avoid the views as well as as a beach with a swimming area although they do have assigned warning you that swimmers itch may be present- I had to look that one up since we're not from around here They also had a really nice basketball court and a bounce pad for the kids. This is definitely a family campground and many families were having gatherings while we were there. While I don't have any complaints for the campground. I will say that for all six nights we were here, not many people adhered to the quiet hours policy. We just turned the overhead fan on to douse out the noise as we didn't feel like disrupting anyone's family parties, but just be prepared for that. We did not use the laundry facilities or shower houses

Personally, I've never been to a campground where all of the sites are so close together. So just know that you'll kind of be on top of each other with little to no privacy. That being said, the park as a whole is very large and well-kept. There's a place to launch your boat (or jetski in our case), a nice swimming/beach area, volleyball and basketball court, as well as wonderful hiking trails. Oh and apparently it's the "best lake" for fishing, so I was told by the locals. We had both a tent and an RV in our group. With a big vehicle, there is a bit of maneuvering since the sites are pretty small. Be sure to book yourself on a site with water and electric if you need it as well, since not all of them provide that. Also note that this state park is pretty remote, with not much else around (I loved that), so if your short on supplies, plan ahead. All in all, we had such a fun weekend together! Next time I would probably just choose something a little less "open" to everyone around.

Would give this park 5 stars if the electrical service was better. One post with two electric boxes is located in the center of four Rv sites which requires a lengthy cord to connect. Bait and switch - Avoid. We recently booked a tee time for…read moretwo people for nine holes at Trout Lake. We've played the course many times and enjoy it. This was our last trip to Trout Lake. We booked online and confirmed at a price of $50. As you can see in the attached picture, it shows $50 due at course. When we arrived at the course they told us the price went up that very day and they would not honor our confirmed price of $50, but instead would have to pay $90 if we wanted to golf. They understood we booked for $50, but they would not honor it, due to their new "dynamic pricing". The second picture explains that. This isn't about the money. This is about the principle. What if our hotel did that? We book for $100 per night, and when we get there they tell us the price went up and it would be $200? Dynamic pricing sounds a lot like surge pricing for Uber. The major difference, Uber is clear you're paying surge pricing up front. They don't quote you at a $50 ride and when the driver pulls up says, "just kidding, that will be $90". If you want to avoid a bait and switch, avoid Trout Lake Golf Club.

Great golf course. Disappointing customer service…read more We played a round on 07/22/24. Unbeknownst to us, the course is undergoing a massive renovation project and several of the holes were significantly shortened due to the renovation work. No mention of this on their website. Staff only mentioned some renovation work AFTER we had paid. Even though we did not get to experience the entire course (courtesy of several of the holes having temporary tees in the fairway, in each case, about 150 to 200 yards ahead of where the tee boxes normally are), we paid full price. When we called to complain, they told us all tees and greens are accessible (a false statement) and no discount would be offered. Golf courses typically provide advance notice of greens being aerated and usually offer a discount when greens are aerated. Any course (other than Trout Lake, apparently), will most definitely provide its customers with advance notice of massive renovation work and offer a discount. Trout Valley apparently has no problem pulling a bait and switch on its customers - this was an unfortunate experience. Sadly, we will not return. It's a great course, but customer service is an afterthought.
