Today, I headed to Wegman's for a grocery run and spotted this Hair Cuttery across the parking lot. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday morning at 10 AM, but my wait was only about 10 minutes. For $35 plus tip, I got an efficient wash, cut, and blow dry. I've tried a range of places-- from more upscale salons to Chinatown spots-- and this place is pretty decent for a franchised salon in a shopping center. It was clean and unpretentious. No frills-- no wine while I waited, no exposed brick walls, no tattooed hipster stylists-- but I got the haircut I asked for. (And I can spend that extra $30 I saved on a nice bottle of wine.) Pretty happy overall!

She doesn't just "match" an inspiration photo; she somehow elevates it and makes it even better, every single time. Sophia is incredibly knowledgeable about hair health. Although the woman I met was so polite and kind and very professional and just overall a sweetheart, she was also honest with me and let me know that she cannot straighten my hair because it's too curly for her. The appointment system is incompatible with the salon's cancellation policy…read more After my cut & balayage service months ago, I scheduled a maintenance appointment for 3 months in the future. On Monday, the day before my appointment, I received a reminder email from Vagaro but there was no option to cancel through the platform. I called the salon but it's closed on Monday so I sent Bauhaus a message through Vagaro explaining that I needed to reschedule the appointment. On Tuesday morning, 7 minutes after they opened, I tried calling again but the line was busy, so I left a voicemail. A few minutes later, someone from Bauhaus called me and I assumed they were calling me back to reschedule. Nope. They said that because I didn't cancel my appointment within 24 hours, they are billing me for 50% of the service I booked. I explained that I'd left a message via Vagaro and that I left a voicemail this morning. "You should have left a voicemail yesterday." Specific instructions to leave a voicemail instead of a Vagaro message aren't stated anywhere. I made multiple efforts in good faith to reschedule my appointment and let the salon know that I would not be making my 10am today. "I can't rebook you until you've paid the 50% cancellation fee." That's a shame. I have no problem paying the fee if it will be applied as a credit to my next service, but paying it as a penalty when the salon's booking systems don't support its cancellation/rescheduling policy is deeply unfair.
