Headmasters is a fun, lively salon right by Putney Bridge which is clean and well-presented and is part of a nationwide chain. However, don't let that put you off! After being greeted by a happy, bubbly receptionist and offered a drink I had a really lovely cut and blow dry by Chris. He listened to what I wanted, didn't scorn me or laugh when I said I hadn't had my hair cut since October last year (It didn't need it, so why pay for it?) and was polite, attentive and professional. The hairwash was enjoyable and relaxing, and the cut was brilliant. I could see Chris was really concentrating on the cut (and not constantly looking around the salon as I have witnessed some stylists do in the past). I'm not very chatty during haircuts and he didn't push conversation, but responded really well when I asked about hair care and styling techniques he seemed like he really knew his stuff and I left with new techniques to try at home. He also explained about the different hair products he used (Kerastase Nectar Thermique and Mystic Oil) but didn't try to push the sale, which I really appreciated. I have Nectar Thermique at home which is why I didn't buy.
Very pleased with my cut, as I always am with Headmasters. I might add I went for a standby appointment which is £25, but you don't get to choose your stylist so it can be luck of the draw. I have had a few standby appointments with Headmasters across London (Mayfair, Wandsworth and Clapham Junction) and they have all been excellent.
The only critique I have is that there was a member of staff floating somewhat aimlessly around the salon sweeping floors, collecting towels etc who looked pretty miserable. Not what I want to see! read more
