If she didn't hang up on me, I would have simply rescheduled. Yes. She hung up on me. Stay away from whatever is going on at this location.

Most dentists use titanium in your gums and them top it with a ceramic crown. Instead, I wanted all ceramic. I didn't want any more metal in my mouth. Dr. Jung is prepared to do this for me. I'm ecstatic that we made an appointment to get my work started. In addition to being knowledgeable, Dr. Jung has a very kind and caring demeanor. I think he is Ann Arbor's best-kept secret. Eun-Young was difficult for me to understand while over the phone. That was probably my 'old' ears. In the office, she was delightful and very helpful. Eun-Young is obviously very knowledgeable regarding dentistry and an asset to the office. I'll be back to do another review after the work is completed, but for now, I am very pleased with the consultation. If you are looking for a holistic dentist consider Dr. Jung. But I have to say, the COVID precautions at Oak Valley Dental are top-notch. They make sure you're not mingling with other patients as you move through the waiting area to your exam room. Each exam room has an air filter scrubbing the air. My hygienist and dentist are both vaccinated (as am I) and were double-masked. And they streamline the bill paying so you're not waiting at the front desk for payment to process. I was impressed both with how they adapted to the pandemic and to see that the first-rate skill and service I've come to expect from them had not suffered. And I can now relax back into my pre-pandemic 6-month schedule. Whoo-hoo!!

After seeing her twice for fillings, I decided to switch to Dr. Filipova, because I like her gentle and thorough approach. She is very encouraging and easy to talk to, and would be a great match for someone who has anxiety about going to the dentist. Some of my fillings ended up needing refining (with an extra appointment) and they were able to get me in quickly. Staff on the phone and in person have also been very helpful, especially Ian. They will give you an itemized receipt for FSA / yearly health care cost documentation if you ask. Their office is also really nicely decorated and maintained. Details on filling type: they have done composite (aka acrylic and glass powder that is UV light cured), and not metal/mercury/amalgam fillings, These look natural, and last from 7 to 10 years -or more. I'm not sure if they offer other/ pricier types of fillings like gold or porcelain. As for insurance, they do take at least some levels of Delta Dental. I have not had any issues with billing so far with that insurance and this clinic. Tip: A few of the dentists with the most experience and seniority (such as Dr. Farah) are in the Delta dental "Premier" group of dentists. This means their fees (even with insurance) and the out of pocket/after insurance cost to you will be higher (versus someone who is not a Delta Dental "Premier" dentist).

I'm usually not good with paperwork, so her help was very much appreciated! After the initial examination, I learned that I had a filling that came loose and some minor gingivitis (which was expected since my teeth have been bothering me for a while now), and Dr. Ma explained her treatment plan for me in a way that I could actually understand. I should mention that I usually get very anxious when it comes to dentists, but Dr. Ma's gentle approach helped alleviate some of that anxiety. Oh yeah, and the hygienist was super thorough. Like, it felt like she got to parts of my mouth that I didn't even know existed. Quick Edit: my boyfriend recently went to Choice Dental after I pestered him about his dental health situation. He's just as weary of dentists as I am, so I was really relieved when he told me that he had a good experience with Dr. Kim. Little researcher that she is, she found Dr. Choi at Choice Dental, which is on South Main just across from the stadium in that office building with the parking underneath. Not only is the office pleasant and the staff very friendly and competant, but the service is just outstanding. Everytime I'd turn around, he'd have something new and techy, from the tiny camera he used to take pics of my teeth so I could see what was going on to the program he used to show my how my teeth were going to move. Better yet, when I went for my cleaning, the DENTIST did the whole cleaning. Not a 2 minute consult. The WHOLE cleaning. Long story short, this dentist will make you feel like you're back in time, with a dentist who's good at what he does and actually gives a damn about you. Old school.
