Right when she showed me the mirror after my first appointment, I was stunned and thrilled -- they looked great. I just completed my included touch-up appointment, and I'm pleased again. Not having to fill in my brows every day really knocks off a good chunk of time (when doing the rest of my make-up) in the morning... plus, having well-shaped, defined brows often makes me feel more comfortable forgoing make-up anyway! Not only did the girl who did my brows not listen to what I asked for at all, I now have these two red scabs under my eyebrows. I called the front desk and the lady at the front desk (who was lovely by the way and was clearly just trying to help), said it was likely because the wax they used was too hot and offered me an oil to put on my brows. The oil burned my eyebrows and I looked to see the ingredients and it has blood orange and grapefruit extract in it so no wonder it burns. I won't be coming back, I like my skin intact after an eyebrow wax, which is too bad because I liked Waxon. Pardon the terrible photo of me that I'm posting to show what the burn looks like.

My spending money was from babysitting money. It's been more than 10 yrs and I still feel disgust when I drive by that place. It's beautiful on the inside of the spa despite being kind of ugly or at least plain on the outside, I like how they are into some eco-friendly stuff but if they treat vulnerable youth like this, who knows how they treat other vulnerable customers. Could be ripping off customers with dementia, disabilities etc. They have no sense of ethics as a business and it has a snobby and judgemental atmosphere that keeps you from fully relaxing, despite the otherwise lovely set-up with flowing water, nice lighting and whatnot. I was getting my eyebrows threaded there once and the woman who was doing them interjected and pointed out my cystic acne when that wasn't even what I was going to say. Then she started shilling Dermologica anti-acne products. I don't have cystic acne anymore because of Accutane, not because of anything OTC including overpriced brands like that that just have sal acid most of the time and are really nothing special. It's wrong to exploit people's insecurities like that to sell things. Going to a spa should be about relaxing and making you feel good.

Owing to the fact that this business is run out of her home, the setting seems a bit odd at first, but immediately becomes comfortable and, of course, homey. Maria has been in business for many years in various locations, but now runs everything from the comfort of her own house. Maria uses OPI products and provided us with a great foot mask and scrub. She's attentive to detail, and we both had a lot of fun trading stories and relaxing while we had our mani-pedis done. If you are looking for a relaxing place that is much less fussy that a large salon, I'd suggest you trust Maria. Prices are fair and her selection of polish colours are great.
