At lunch time there is a carvery which has some really tasty dishes, not just joints of meat but there are home made pie dishes and pork in mushroom sauce and many other dishes to chose from. You can have two courses for £5.99 which may have gone up I haven't been over the last few weeks but the desserts are also delicious. I especially enjoy the plum crumble with custard but there are lots of choices. It is nice to go at lunch time if you have the chance and is very warm and cosy. The waitresses are dressed in complete waitressing outfits and really know what they are talking about when they describe the food. I love it there!

They were welcoming and as friendly as I remembered them from 1972. Booking in was so good My bags were carried upstairs and i was wished good night. I watched tv for half an hour then settled in the cosy bed with pretty flowered bedding. I slept through till 7. A rarity for me. I felt at home.Breakfast at 8.30 was a wonderful experience in a spacious restaurant. I had a spoonful of each cereal and the milk was brought in a small jug. Personal service making me feel special. Toast was brought in on a plate and tea in a teapot. My breakfast was well cooked and on an oval plate.they asked if everything was ok, did I need anything else. I was even offered another pot of tea in case the other was cold. They took time to have a conversation when I said I used to buy ham salami and cheese from them. I Mentioned my favourite sweets too. I then went back to bed for half an hour. The other staff were as friendly as the owners. They allowed me to watch tv and charge my phone in the lounge though it was past checking out time. Everyone was So calm and relaxed. And someone even send them some flowers. All in all it was a wonderful experience and i can't wait to-do it again.

They provided a free room and PA system all we paid for was the meal and wine. The service was outstanding and the portions of superbly cooked food enough to satisfy any gargantuan appetite. Martin held control and in his own inimitable laid back style mastered the evening, truly amazing. The facilities at the Parkway gave our out of town guests the opportunity of using it as a base to visit family and/or the tourist attractions which they all took advantage of. A particular guest has back problems, the Parkway sorted out her bed and she had a wonderful stay. One can ask for nothing more.

Today is the first day out of lockdown, first day for hotels to be open (with limitations) and public dining in MONTHS. Our first trip "out" since we spent a few days at another Hand Picked Hotel (Stanbrooke Abbey in Worcester) last October. Our room is immaculate but smaller than the Stanbrooke but lower cost too. You cannot enter the hotel itself until rules allow it in another 5 weeks or so - so straight to our room which can be entered from outdoors directly. Food is brought by room service but they have an outside "TeePee" which we tried tonight - but TOO COLD so tomorrow we will be in room dining for sure! Will edit this review over the next few days!

The hotel is relatively cheap (if you book in advance) but can be more expensive if you have a last minute trip. The only bad thing I really noticed was the fact that you had to pay for the use of the internet. Breakfast is not included but at £5.25 for an all you can eat buffet, its not half bad! I noticed that they have pancakes on my most recent trip but couldn't find any syrup to put on them. They also have bagels and crumpets. The hotel is right next to a railway station (Glasshoughton) so it's quite easy to get to Leeds. My only negative point is that the sliding bathroom door in some rooms is very difficult to use.

I approached one of the staff, Emma, and told her my dilemma. I asked if they could make some chicken nuggets and fries or something like that. Very few of the meals that we had on our tour were for a 10 year old and I wanted her to have something to enjoy. Emma said, let me check with our chef, Doug. She came back and said, "Not only will he make her chicken nuggets, but if she colors this picture well, he will make sure that she has ice cream for dessert!" Gabby was ecstatic! Not only did Chef Doug make chicken nuggets, but he made them from scratch. Not the premade ones at all. I have to say that I tried one and they had to be the best chicken nuggets that I've ever had. It has free parking, which is good, and as you would expect of a Hilton, is slightly higher in price than the average for the area. Inside the hotel it is quite modern and to a high standard, much unlike the dated exterior. The reception area,rooms and dining area are very nice and clean. Towels and bedding are clean, and the bathrooms are all to a high standard with complimentary personal hygiene items as standard. The staff are very polite indeed, very professional, and look the part. They are very knowledgeable about the area, such as nearby restaurants, cashpoints and petrol stations. They have information on the area to hand to residents also. The food is excellent as you would expect, with a large choice of breakfast items, from continental to traditional, and the optional evening meal has plenty of variety, with Italian, English and French foods being the standard. Certainly the steak I had there was excellent and to a high standard. Expect to pay around £20 - £25 per head depending on drinks and dessert.
