I highly recommend checking this place out they have a ton of cooking utensils and gadgets. The staff is super nice and you can try any of the oils or vinegars before you buy them. The staff will even tell you how each of the pair to make salad dressings and other things.

There were even dogs who greeted me! My husband and I needed to use the restroom, so we went to the basement where it was located. As I was walking back to find my husband, one of the employees (maybe an owner, some younger guy) was dragging one of the dogs by the collar. I noticed that the dog had made a mess in the floor. This guy scolded the dog and hit it three times. At that point, I lost all desire to spend any money in this store and we left. The guy knew I was around, too. I can only imagine how he treats that poor dog when there aren't witnesses. I hope karma finds that guy quickly.

In that respect, the Rondeau's Shopping Center was a godsend. Conveniently located between a gas station and the Cable Visitors Center, Rondeau's is really two businesses on one -- there's a True Valley hardware store on the left and a grocery store on the right. We visited both twice during our one-week stay in Cable. Hardware Store (rating: 5/5 for a small-town hardware store). Sure, their inventory is smaller than the big box stores at home, but they had all of the camping equipment and insect repellent that we were looking for and at competitive prices. The two cashiers that we dealt with very helpful (to locate items) and friendly in general. Groceries side (rating: 3/5). We were very pleased to have the Rondeau's in Cable -- to avoid having to drive long distances for groceries -- and they did have most of the items on our grocery list. That said, expect to pay somewhat more than you would in big chain stores. For example, fresh bagels were $4.49 for 4, while fresh corn on the cob was 6/$3.99. (May, 2023). They did have a nice beer selection (including dark stouts) and some bargains on the clearance table. In terms of the grocery staffing, I had a nice conversation with a woman stacking the shelves, but a more disturbing one with a check-out woman. (Without there being a Customer Service Desk, I showed her a receipt that I had been overcharged for an item two days earlier. While she did give me a credit for the overcharge, I got some attitude. "Perhaps the price decreased since you bought it." It's not the $$, but the principle of overcharging for the item, and then not wanting to correct it.

Very good live minnows and night crawlers at better prices than anywhere else around. They also have tackle and poles. They have gas pumps that I think are open 24 hours a day. They also have a post office, dvd video rental and sell liquor. This is a really nice one stop shop in the area a hop skip and a jump from my cabin. If you need anything stop in and if they don't have it they will tell you where you can get it.

They are always willing to help you out in finding an item or making sure that it us the right item to help you. Very well stocked with typical hardware items in garden, electrucal, plumbing, paint, etc. They also have a housewares section. Additionally, I have used their small engine repair services, located in a separate building across the parking lot. Very reasonable and pretty prompt. Lots of parking all around the building. I recommend this store!

Of course, back then, Spooner was a sleepy northern Wisconsin town and nothing was open on Sunday...very different, today. Anyway, it's a great pharmacy, and gift store, too. They have all the general needs in the store you could hope for, and provide great service, help with prescriptions, and all sorts of other needs.
