Then it's not a long walk to the promentary that is Cape Cornwall, surely one of the most westerly of points in the country. It's very exposed to the weather coming off the Atlantic, so dress appropriately and be prepared to be blown off your feet by the wind! But it's worth persevering and climbing up to the observation point, where the views are spectacular. When you look around, it seems like you are seeing more than 180 degrees of sea. And if you stare at the horizon, you can actually see the curve of the earth! Magnificent!

What a lovely golf course! I played a twilight (£12) on a February afternoon and had the course to…read moremyself. Holes 2-9 are parkland and holes 10-18 overlook the bay. Stunning views! I liked the par 5 17th the best: dog-leg left with all the trouble on the left; very intimidating. The course is very well kept and the greens were fast. Also had a breakfast in the clubhouse the same morning which was excellent. Highly recommended if you're staying nearby.
