The grounds were very well maintained with lots of beautiful, colourful flowers of various types, as well as manicured trees and shrubs. The play surfaces were mostly well swept with the occasional rogue leaf turning up every so often. Each hole offered a new challenge, but none were terribly difficult, even for the 5-year old.

I liked the par 5 17th the best: dog-leg left with all the trouble on the left; very intimidating. The course is very well kept and the greens were fast. Also had a breakfast in the clubhouse the same morning which was excellent. Highly recommended if you're staying nearby.

The course is spread over the grounds of Killiow Estate and features natural water hazards and an abundance of mature trees. The driving range although adequate is expensive compared to others in the area and they have a strange rule forbidding bags so you need to decide which clubs you want to practice with and leave the rest in the car.

Then it's not a long walk to the promentary that is Cape Cornwall, surely one of the most westerly of points in the country. It's very exposed to the weather coming off the Atlantic, so dress appropriately and be prepared to be blown off your feet by the wind! But it's worth persevering and climbing up to the observation point, where the views are spectacular. When you look around, it seems like you are seeing more than 180 degrees of sea. And if you stare at the horizon, you can actually see the curve of the earth! Magnificent!
