Our tasting host was quite knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Honig Winery, as well as the wine-making process. I enjoyed all of their wines, ranging from sauv blanc to cab sauv, and left with two bottles! I especially enjoyed some of the lighter red wines - very drinkable! The grounds are scenic - it's tucked away in a nice, shady plot of land surrounded by vineyards. And I appreciate their commitment to sustainability. I'd love to return in the spring or summer months, because their outdoor patio looks enticing. Ultimately, Honig is a fun, low-key winery without the pretentious Napa feel. My group had such a fun time!

This winery is owned by a wine-maker, Bulmaro Montes, a former vineyard manager and vice president of operation of Joseph Phelps Vineyards. Their vineyard is really small (only 2.6 acres!) and Cabernet Sauvignon is the only variety that they plant. I had a chance to taste their wines, named Marita's and Soma with Spanish-influenced tapas that were prepared and served by Pilar (a very nice and friendly woman), who is a receptionist, server, and chef at the winery. Their tasting room is in fact a cozy house with a nice view of their vineyard, so that I enjoyed both wines and food in a very family atmosphere. Marita's Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and dense yet elegant. Soma is also elegant and smooth with good acid-tannin balance. They offer two types of tasting: one with tapas and another with food paring. You need to reserve a tasting since their place is tiny and they can accommodate only one party at a time. Please expect about an hour or two for the tasting. If you've never been there, it is a bit difficult to find the place. So, please make sure the direction before you go. The small intimate setting, beautiful views, amazing wines at reasonable prices, and great cheese pairings made this place a stop to remember. I ended up buying a case and joining the wine club. They also waived our tasting fees with our bottle purchases (I think it's one tasting waived per two bottles but double check me on that). They also gave me a free (and quite sturdy and good quality) branded wine key, perhaps for joining the club. I also appreciated they gave us water bottles and allowed two of our guests (who were driving) to join us but not have to pay for the tasting. I wish more wineries allowed that to allow for safe and responsible tastings. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again! This by far will have to be a stop for us every time we come to Napa. The setting was SO intimate (we were the only ones there), the view was beautiful, and we were treated like family in someone's home. The owner even came out to greet us. It was so sweet. Their story was amazing, the wine pairings were great, and we loved every single wine we tried. This was the only winery we visited where every person in our group bought multiple bottles, a case or a membership to their wine club. All of us still get the email updates from the vineyard, and look forward to their spring release wines (specifically the Sauvignon Blanc & Rosé)! When I tell you every wine of theirs we tasted was amazing, I mean every single one! I've even received hand written cards every Christmas since we visited from the family. They truly made our experience so special. Their wine, their vineyard, their hospitality and the attention to detail made Taylor Family Vineyards our favorite winery to date. Ezra took excellent care of us, and even allowed us to taste something not on the normal menu, which was fell in love with (White Maximus). First off I have to mention that the staff is not only super knowledgeable but friendly and humble. Prime Cellars is one of two brands being tasted at this location, the other being Trahan Winery. They each seem to have a Yelp page though both wineries are in the one tasting room. Ill post this review on the Trahan page as well. We chose to taste their current releases which was a pretty diverse selection of whites and reds from both wineries including a very good Pinot Noir from Trahan Winery. We were also kind of blown away by the Trahan Petit Verdot. Sold! Ended up with a bottle of each. In most tasting rooms the winery usually only provides one glass. Not at Prime, they go the extra step and pair their wines with the appropriate style of wine glass. We actually asked about this and was offered a side by side of the Trahan Pinot with in two different styles of glasses. Yes, two completely different glasses, same wine, two completely different experiences. So when you're doing your tasting be sure to take note of the style of glass being used. What a great experience. Take a chance and stop in, you'll be glad you did.

We called to let them know we'd be late, and they were incredibly understanding, which immediately eased my stress. They offer a few different wine flight options to choose from, as well as meats, cheese, and a charcuterie board for purchase. A couple of the listed items weren't available that day, but they happily created a custom board for us instead. It ended up being the perfect size for our group of four. I was the DD so I wasn't drinking, but I really appreciated the thoughtful service. They brought me a wine glass as well, so I didn't feel left out while everyone else enjoyed their tastings, and I simply filled it with water. They even offered me a Gatorade so I'd have something special to sip on as well. It was such a small gesture, but one that made me feel included. We were able to choose where we wanted to sit and opted for one of the outdoor picnic tables, which made for a relaxing afternoon. During our visit, they also offered my family an additional wine to sample from their menu, and the pour was much more generous than a typical tasting and my mom ended up buying a bottle of their sparkling to take home. I'm such a bubbles girly! Overall, we spent a lovely afternoon here and would absolutely come back. Before leaving, we even picked up a bottle of their olive oil too to take home for momma.
