However, the office manager, Alma threatens patients to pay in advance before they are able to see Dr. Adkins. Alma knows most insurance has a lower 'allowable amount' than what they charge for an office visit. We had to call over ten times to get her to file the claim with our insurance early this year. Alma only spoke with us the first time and then refused to talk with us afterwards. I guess she got annoyed with our persistence and finally filed the claim 2 months after date of service. My husband just went back last month (June 2017) and again and Alma made the same threat. We stopped the credit card charge and called her to explain that we have 100% coverage and why the same day of service. She is not well versed with health insurance because she does not know what the difference between an HRA and HSA plans. She threaten to report us to collection agency. I told her that was inappropriate for her to say, especially since our insurance will pay 100% and the service was just today. She got emotional and I asked for Dr. Adkins to call us directly but never received a call. My husband went back in person to ask and still no call. We have his cell # but at this point if he wants to allow this cancer to exist in his practice, we will have to find another physician. Beware - and know your insurance benefits before you agree to pay upfront. There are likely many patients who are not as fluent with insurance as I and have been taking advantage of.

He is also professional and listens well. We agreed that what I had was most likely viral, and was given a treatment plan that was explained very well. He told me if I didn't feel better to call back and he would send in a Rx for me. Today, I awoke and sounded as if I had smoked a carton of cigarettes! (I'm a non-smoker) I called in and spoke to Mikayla, (sp?), She asked questions and send she would let Brian know. She then called me back no less than (3) times and let me know what was happening. You feel like you are "sitting around the kitchen table" talking to Dr. Vo; she actually listens to you. I am constantly amazed at her complete knowledge of prescriptions, she keeps current on what works and I have complete confidence in what she prescribes. She has never let me down. Her nurse Lorenna is so kind, gentle, and understanding. She has given me shots that I never feel going in my arm. No kiddiing. I once forgot an order at an X-ray facility and Dr. Vo's office had the order faxed to them in less than 1 minute. Even the X-ray technicians were amazed. They have a great phlebotomist on staff who is very gentle and efficient. The office staff all treat the patients as personal friends and they remember you and your preferences. I do not know of a better office or Dr. in SW Florida!
