There is also a basic selection of camping and outdoors equipment, though I should stress that it's not tents etc, more along the hiking lines. Its not in the town centre so great for popping in if you need something or have forgotten something, which is what I normally do. The shop has lots of stock covering all types of outdoor activites with pretty good prices. I bought a new tent from here a few years back and found them very helpful and listened to what I was looking for and helped me choose the correct one.

HR4K is in an insdustrial estate just slightly away from the main services area but it is the only small independent cafe. You can lounge on a sofa or sit at a big table and have coffee etc or a savoury pastry. The range of cakes and sandwiches is very limited but they are good quality and the staff are friendly and helpful. They sell some weird items that defy description and also various items of their own branded clothing so it is quite an odd place. Parking is usually easy, right outside.

Don't get me wrong, i quite like the chantry centre, as although it does have its failings, at the same time it does not try to be a destination but merely a place to shop which is what it is designed for! There isn't a cafe every other store, the only places to get a drink or food are grouped together away from the other stores. There is a nice selection of high street shops, nothing to exciting, but enough to allow you to potter about to get the bits you need all in one place. The toilets should be avoided at all costs, as they are truly awful!

A town with a heck of a lot of old folks shuffling around. The town was recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book when it was called the village of Straburg, and it was recorded as having 24 households, well endowed with land, particularly arable ploughlands, and rendering 8 pounds sterling to its feudal lord a year - hundreds of years before the arrival of employers and employees
