Great first impressions although it was a little pricey. The rooms were really clean and spacious and the staff was friendly. However, we had a very disturbing incident late at night. 3 men tried to open our door at night and fortunately we secured the door from inside to prevent it from being opened even with a keycard. We had no idea why they were able to open the door using a keycard when we had already gotten our room. I was asleep when this happened but my wife woke up and went downstairs to the front desk and sure enough, one of the people trying to get in our room was the desk attendant. He apologized saying that the computer system was having issues and may have caused them to believe that our room was unoccupied. Later the next day, the manager also apologized to us and said Wyndham was handling the IT systems for booking and assigning rooms and were having technical difficulties. Aside from that, the breakfast in the morning was excellent, esp their eggs, sausage, and hash browns. I guess I was unlucky to have encountered such a scary ordeal but if it hadn't happened, they could have scored a 4-5 star review. read more

We stayed here as a stop over to our condo. The rate was fair and I wasn't expecting much. To be fair, we didn't get much. It started at checkin and when I was asked to sign the checkin form I asked what the rate was. I was told "you booked through google, I have no idea". When pressed I was told that was policy. We agreed to disagree at 11pm. The room was clean enough. The problem is it was tiny. Like smallest room I've stayed in other than nyc. Because of the size the layout was terrible. You couldn't see the tv from anywhere other than the bed it was next to. One bed was against the wall on two sides. The beds were comfortable but the shower could use some work on the tile and some cleaning of the grout that meets the tub. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. Bathroom was as small as the room. It had a kitchen if that's what you're looking for. A freshening of staff attitude would help rating. Size will be hard to fix. If you need a place to crash en route to something. This is fine. If you're here to be here, I'd look elsewhere. read more

What a nice surprise!!!!!! We originally thought it was a little pricey but didn't want to do a motel 6 again so thought what the heck. Nope, we got a great deal!!! Friendly staff, super super clean!!! The lobby was decorated nicely and he said we will have breakfast. Our room has a microwave, fridge, stove, sink and dishwasher!!! Flat screen tv! A/C unit and comfy beds!!!! Lots of room in the bathroom too!!!! This place is great!! Gotta love Wyndham Resorts! read more

Something's wrong between Hawthorn Suits and Priceline prepayment.The front desk don't know how to do his job,just rude and mean to me.I'm a girl after long solo drive,no welcome but humiliated here,I stood in lobby helpless broke down in tears for half hour..I didn't sleep well that night. I complained when checking out(12/12/17),manager told me the Corp will do something and let me know,but they didn't.I emailed the manager 12/27/17,she told me everyone is on vacation.Emailed them again 1/9/18,nobody reply me till now(2/5/18). So pleased we stayed here. We needed a nice stop before our final destination. This was easy to get to right off the 70 freeway. Modern hotel, nicely-decorated rooms, beds were comfy (down/Poly blend pillows---my fav!!!!) and decent breakfast too. Would stay here at for the price! read more

So this hotel looks super nice. But beware. We turned on our air conditioner and it would stay on for ten minutes then turn off. We called downstairs and the guy that answered said that it's auto set to 77 and there's no way for us to change that. We then complained to someone else and a worker came to our room. She messed with the buttons and said she was surprised that it wasn't working. (Pressing random buttons usually doesn't, but whatever.) Anyway, she then proceeds to tell us that we should just open our window because it wasn't working. When we pointed out that it faced the highway and was extremely loud she said "yeah, well..." then nothing else. Like, is this real life? She said sorry and left. With the air still not working. The next morning we complained to the manager and got a discount on the room, but the night service is absolutely terrible. 0/10 would never stay again. read more

My stay personally sucked. We got there and walked into the room and the beds are so small and hard, also the couch it rock solid hard. The counter was bigger than the whole room, also the tv ! Later that night there were bed bugs on BOTH beds so the moved us up to the next floor and we were ridiculously uncomfortable after that situation we couldn't sleep. The next day the power went out forever and they've been having those problems all week! Very sucky experience and will never be going back EVER again 100% DO NOT recommend! Not sure why more people haven't reviewed this place! A friend and I came here during fieldwork after attempting to camp at Sylvan Lake SP and getting swarmed by half inch mosquitoes. They were literally everywhere and both of us react pretty badly to getting bitten, so we decided to bite the bullet and get a room for the night. I looked online through the google maps app on my phone and saw that this place had vacancies at $105/night. We show up at the front desk and were told the rates were about 20 bucks higher. Just a tip: look for specials online if you have access through your phone. They do not give you the discounted rates unless you mention them. Anyway, the receptionist happily gave us the rate after I asked for it and also answered all of my questions. Also, they sometimes have free cookies in the lobby (score!). When we walked into the room, we were pretty surprised. The rate we paid was pretty expensive for a motel, on the standard-ish side for a hotel, but our room was beautiful, with two fluffy queen beds, a window, and a flat screen tv. On top of that, each room has a small kitchen in it, with a full-sized fridge, stove, dishwasher, sink, and even kitchen utensils. I was also somewhat pleased that the fridge wasn't stocked with expensive mini bags of gummy bears and travel sized bottles of liquor to tempt you during the night. There is also a patio area outside with several tables and chairs and a propane grill that's available for any of the guests to use. The complimentary breakfast was also appreciated. We had scrambled eggs and English muffins. Apparently their freezer recently broke down, so they didn't have any sausage, but it's nice to know that sausage would have been an option had this not happened. Besides that, there were muffins and scones, toast, cereal, yogurt, and some fruit. Overall, the service and accommodations were top notch, and we got to stay in a beautiful town. I checked in, went to the room, only to find a family asleep in the beds. Back in line again, someone was saying to be careful of the throw up in the stairwell Also in line again, someone was back, complaining that his card didn't work again. 3 strikes and your out.. They couldn't refund my money that night, so I left a note with the front desk person explaining the situation, and asked for a refund. I left and went on my way. I decided to check on the refund a few days later, only to find them still happily charging me for my non-existent stay. They did refund all but one night, which the owner just quotes the 24 hour notice policy. Maybe I need to check out the rooms first next time, ensure that it is unoccupied first, bounce on the bed a few times, before I give out my credit card. Not a satisfied customer! read more

Family of 5, We booked via Groupon, ended up with an extra room we weren't supposed to have, they worked with us, and we are very grateful. The breakfast was pretty standard waffles, eggs, sausage, etc. little accommodation for those with dietary restriction, but manageable. Overall the hotel was just fine, we stayed in kitchenette rooms, and I would recommend with small reservations. While the tools have all been provided by Wyndham, it felt as if the family running this hotel is still working out the details. Small things matter; a misaligned wall mount, a non-working community area clock, all service doors left open to see the chaos behind, countertops left crumby after breakfast...simple things that would make the stay more pleasant. These things combined with the apparent confusion between front desk vs. maidservice and what is posted on the fridges about "freshening your room" make typical $160/night pricetag a bit much. That aside, still a decent location to access Glenwood Springs, Snowmass, or Vail for a long or short stay. read more

I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are super clean and the staff was absolutely the best. Everyone likes to make you feel like you are home. I am not sure why the hotel is getting bad reviews because it isn't as bad as it seems. The beds are awesome. Super comfortable. The pillows are to die for. When I get home I will try to find out if I can buy them for my bed. I love walking down the hall at night and smelling everyone cooking their dinner.The kitchen that is in the room is great if you are staying longer than overnight. The hotel is pet-friendly, yet even with my allergies, I would have never known if a pet stayed in the room previous to me or not. Such a nice smell when you walk in. No noise. I knew there were pets in the hotel because I saw them, I just never heard any. The hotel is priced the same as all the others in the are but the staff makes this one stand out! Everyone is friendly and very helpful. They even give you a postcard with local restaurants on it. Has a map for locating them. Very convenient! I am only reviewing this place because it was so awful. I did not even have high standards in the first place because I realize it is a value hotel. Upon arrival, they had lost our reservation and did not have a room for us, even though they had confirmed our room with us three hours prior. Also, the two guys at the front desk were the most unprofessional people I have come across at a check in desk. They were literally eating pizza and talking to us with their mouth full (they even held a piece out and offered us some) and it took about 20 mins for them to find our reservation. Then, they had to adjust the price to match our confirmation email (which we had to send to them) because they tried to overcharge us. They finally took us to a room that had been "out of commission" before we got there. The fridge was pulled out into the middle of the room and unplugged. Their comforters were so thin, so we asked for more and were brought two sheets? Also- the heater smelled like burning chemicals, it had definitely never been cleaned. When we finally got into bed, we noticed a large yellow stain and another brown stain (pictured). We slept with shirts over the pillow cases and left as soon as possible in the morning. To start, the front desk customer service was rude. When we booked on hotels.com there was the option to get Mountain View. Considering we drove this whole was for mountains it was important to me. The front desk lady got snarky when asked if that's the room we were given. The rooms are not suites. Just because there is a kitchenette doesn't mean it is a suite. The hotel had a grungy feel to it and smelled like Indian food for the entire stay. Just because they say check-in is at 3 doesn't mean they'll actually be ready. When we arrived the majority of the staff were sitting in the lobby chit-chatting and we were asked to come back 20 minutes later. For $150 a night we were extremely unimpressed and dissatisfied. read more

We had been driving for 20 hours with a sick pet and could not find a room to stop and nap for a few hours because it was before 3pm. I called this hotel and the woman who answered the phone was so welcoming and accommodating! I almost cried (sleep deprivation!) the room was very nice and the price was very affordable! If you want a quiet place to sleep do not stay here. I stayed for 2 weeks, every footstep above you can be heard and will keep you awake. The lobby and halls smelled like pot every evening because they allow guys to stand outside the side doors and smoke it. Lousy coffee. Room was not cleaned when I checked in. Sonic was great. General Manager was never there, her daughter lives on the top floor with children that run and jump loudly and no one seemed willing or able to remedy the situation. The daughter is a manager and when I told her that her children were disruptive to the guests below and that I have had to call every night she said "yeah that's my youngest" no apology for waking me at 6am every morning with running across the floor above me. And the biggest issue was that No One Cared. Certainly not Wyndham standards. read more

Overall the Hawthorne is a nice and clean place, but I used to work in the hospitality industry and there are so many little things they could improve to make it a great experience. There was only one packet of coffee to make in the room, and it was decaf; and no add-ins like creamer packets. We called down twice for extra garbage bags and neither time did someone come up. Beware and read some of the other yelp reviews. When we arrived we realized our booking agent had put us 45 minutes drive from our destination.We overlooked that. Then we checked in with optimism only to get sent to an un-prep'd room. We went back down stairs and got a new room. The new room had broken A/C so opened the window with torn screen. We overlooked it. we put food in fridge and went to bed. We awoke to a dead fridge and spoiled food. Starting to see a pattern here. Breakfast was provided and was pretty good. Then we went to check out and told them we were going to find something closer to our destination. They insisted the advertised rated was for 2 nights and a single night stay was higher, even though on the web site the 1 night rate was the same as the two night rate. We showed the clerk the web page and she insisted the manager would have to call us the following day to resolve. When manager called us and we offered to provide the screen shot she insisted we resolve with the booking agent. The agent made it up to us but I would strongly caution anyone thinking of staying here. Un-made room, broken a/c, broken fridge, torn window screen and insult on injury, incorrectly billed. Wyndham should rethink them too! read more

We arranged for a late checkout, and were checked out of our hotel anyway. We then had to wait 20 minutes to get back in, and get our stuff. The bathrooms are small and cramped, and my comforter had mystery stains on it. Might be about what you can expect from what you're paying, but I've had better stays at Super 8's. We only stayed one night on our cross country trip. The room was ok. It had a strange smell. We weren't really sure about staying here at first. When we pulled up there was a group of burley looking men just hanging out on the patio portion. They just kept staring at us and it made us feel uncomfortable. I am assuming they must be workers who were also staying there as the room had a full kitchenette. The room itself was ok for the night. Very bad experience! We booked 2 rooms in advance. Went to check in after a very long day of cycling 90+ miles and were told that our rooms had been cancelled. Hotel manager said booking.com had contacted him and told him the rooms had been cancelled per our request. We contacted booking.com and they showed the rooms as still booked. After much discussion, we left and found another place to stay. Booking.com was very accommodating and is looking into the issue further. Talk around town is that this is a common issue with this hotel during a busy weekend. I do not recommend this hotel! read more

would do zero or 1/2 star if possbible. this looked nice from the outside and you could tell they got their furniture from the head company (good decor) but you couldnt hide what it was. felt ghetto, messy, poor quality for a hotel with suites. so we got a suite (jordan suite) because we have twin toddlers and two pack and plays. so there this was this.god awful smell like something died in there. there were no other suites or rooms big enough to accommodate two pnps, and after driving 550 miles we needed some sleep. so we got used to smell but the next day it only got worse!! we couldnt get out of there fast enough. there were dirty dishes in the room and the bathroom was comically too small. two doors in a room that wasnt big enough to accommodate two people?! why?! never again!!! read more

We booked a room not once but twice for a stay 2 months in advance. They lost the first reservation along with all my info, and then set up another reservation for me at that time. Once again I gave them all my info and once again received a conformation email. I contacted them again the week prior to our stay and was told again they had lost the reservation and now they were overbooked. Spoke with the assistant manager Sydney and was told there was no manager on duty until the following week. When I did speak with the manager Anne Marie she told me Sydney was the assistant manager?? Lots of passing the buck at this place, no apologies from anyone I spoke to before the Manager who did apologize. VERY DISAPPOINTING. A simple sorry we screwed up would have gone a long way. In the end we had to stay in Vail and commute to eagle due to the fact that there were no rooms available that weekend due to a state high school mt. bike race. Turns out there were others staying there that weekend from our team who had the same problem. Called the corporate office and was told they would handle it internally, whatever that means. PLEASE BE AWARE that if you book a reservation with them you may show up and not have a room. There are many great hotel chains out there, Hawthorn Suites/ Wyndham unfortunately is not one of them. read more

This was my worst experience during my road trip across the country. I expected so much more from a Wyndam hotel. Upon arriving the lobby reeked of rotten eggs. There were huge carts of dirty linens clogging up the hallways that you had to literally squeeze by to get to your room. There seemed to be a lot people living there, which is not the type of place I like to stay in. Staff was super nonchalant and unaccommodating; they chuckled when we told them about just a few of the issues we had. The rooms are very tiny and claustrophobic. The bathroom door had stab marks in it. The toilet backed up and we were given a plunger to take of it ourselves. The air conditioner in the room would not stay on so I literally had to turn it off and back on every couple of minutes to get it to run all night. I did not sleep a wink here and could not wait to leave. Breakfast was abysmal, slim pickings of cold, stale food. Would never think of staying here again. read more
