The award-winning steakhouse is located just off St Andrew Square in the stunning Art Deco former RBS banking hall and just a minute's walk from Waverley Station and all of the main transport networks, Hawksmoor is the perfect place to enjoy warm hospitality in beautiful surroundings.
With a great reputation for sustainability and ethics, the team continually source incredible produce from all corners of the country, whether it be hand-dived scallops from the Isle of Mull, 35-day aged grass-fed Scottish beef, or rare locally-sourced whisky. A simple ethos of buying the best and preparing it simply means that most of the menu items come from exceptionally passionate, small-scale producers.
The restaurant holds space for 170 guests, including a beautiful, light-filled private dining room for 12. With intimate booths for the evening, sunny tables for two under the huge sky-lights, or seats near the kitchen pass next to all the action, Hawksmoor is the ideal spot to dine with colleagues and loved ones alike.
Perch up on one of the comfy bar stools to enjoy an incredible cocktail from a carefully curated list or ask the bar team to introduce you to a rare wine from one of our independent suppliers. You can even grab a bite to eat at the bar if you like too.
History
Established in 2006.
The first Hawksmoor opened in 2006 by two childhood friends, Will & Huw. Since then, they have established 8 well-loved restaurants in London, one in Manchester, Liverpool, Dublin, New York City, Chicago, Boston, and of course, Edinburgh. The focus of Hawksmoor has always been on quality - buying the very best produce and preparing it simply - as well as providing exceptional hospitality and being an brilliant place to work. Hawksmoor Edinburgh not only serves incredible grass-fed beef from select farms across Scotland but also has an array of seafood from local Scottish shores. Amazing cocktails and a carefully curated selection of wines from small, independent producers extends the theme of quality.
Meet the Business Owner: Will B.
Will & Huw began Hawksmoor inspired by the memory of how good a steak could taste. They both had steaks cooked for them in their family homes as an occasional treat when they were kids, and when they grew up they found that the reality of steaks in restaurants never matched those memories.
They soon realised that the taste difference was due to the way that farming practices had shifted dramatically and set about creating a restaurant that would always do things 'the right way' and source their produce from proper farmers.
