No one likes going to departments of licensing because it's never a great experience but I came into Hawks Prairie Licensing today to register 2 vehicles and it was the quickest and easiest visit I've had to a DOL. Took less than 10 minutes and they were incredibly nice. Pretty rare to find a DOL that deserved 5 stars. Thank you! read more

Imagine being a Licensing office and saying "we dont do title work after 4:30. 1. Why tf you even bother to look at my paperwork then? 2. Wtf else are you even suppose to be doing? Its a licensing office. Everything you do involves a title. 3. What if this was my only freeday before 5pm within 15 days? I wouldnt be able to do this before 5pm any other day. Staff was incredibly helpful & friendly. I called beforehand to make sure I had everything I needed for getting Washington plates and they provided me with info. I went in on a Saturday & while there was a socially distanced line out the door- it wasn't a long wait. I was able to get plates for both my cars & was on my way fairly quick for the time of day & services I needed. Will definitely use this location again for renewal purposes. read more

Extremely rude, and naive. When I walked in they told me they were closed, even though there was still five minutes left, as well as the door was open with two other people in there. Then they proceeded to tell me that they stopped doing titles half an hour before I got there, and that I should've checked the door, instead of basically wasting their time. All they had to do was just politely tell me there closed, and to come back tomrrow. read more

This place is a very small office for the amount of business that was there when I went. Didnt have to wait too long. It is definitely alot easier than how things are done in AZ. Staff was helpful. But only certain employees can do certain things to help you out. For example, I had to get new WA state plates and only 2 employees were certified to do that. Found it odd they only accept cash or checks. I've noticed that in Washington. Good number of places seem to run a business this way. I appreciate getting the plates right then. read more

The only Licensing agency that was working on Saturday before MLK day! Got in and out pretty quick but the staff wasn't the most pleasant in the world. The place is really tiny so you couldn't have more than 3 people in line because you would take the whole room. Also, they only sell 3-day permits and do not have 1-day trip permits. Standing in line while the two clerks chat with whomever they're serving. Too much. Way too long to stand here. Please don't engage customers who want to drone on and on. Another suggestion is have a 'take a number' machine and let people sit down! Since I walked up with a no non-sense demeanor and stated my request I personally was helped quickly and effeciently. I really don't like putting in bad reviews. I really don't. I also don't like to be judgmental but these young girls in this place are so unbothered and look like they want to get back to texting or gossiping when you leave. No smiles, no customer service, no friendliness. I mean...if you don't like working in licensing (which I'm sure can be slightly boring) then find something else that will excite you to come to work to service customers. You should genuinely enjoy customers to be in customer service. They only take cash or check. Like ...no debit....for real? It comes right out of your account, let's be real. Checks have just as much chance of bouncing as a debit card. But, maybe it has to to with the WA Dept. of Licensing standards. Luckily, there is an ATM machine right in the very small lobby/waiting area. I really debate going back here because the three times I've went, for minor things like to purchase tabs and change my title into my own name after I paid my car off, I was highly dissatisfied with the level of friendly, courteous, service provided. Tristen or whatever her name is, Young girl there needs to be fired. A professional customer service class would be helpful too. 1) She tells me they do not have my information, and then ask me what is my name. How does she know without know who I was. 2) Rudeness. Keep cutting me off, Rushing me off the phone, unprofessional language, as if I was on MTV, and is confused every time I call. I know most teens are not experienced when it comes to professional customer service but damn.. I gave two star because the information that I given was accurate, but the verbal communication was horrible. read more

The lady who helped me greeted me and let me know she'd be right with me. I had my 13 month old and she was patient with me, but also was very quick and efficient. I'm not sure why they have so many bad reviews. I didn't see them treat anyone badly. All the ladies were very fast and efficient. I was able to get my car registration changed over from CA and also updated an address for another car in about 15 minutes. TIP: Make sure to bring either cash or checks to pay. read more

My god hire an entire new staff, I'm in restaurant management and I wouldn't hire these people. All rude, they ignore you, I watched my clerk spend roughly 5 minutes making gross faces and picking God knows what out of her hair. The manager showed up almost 20 minutes after they opened and was told about problems instead of going to the customer and helping them like a good manager would do she passes it off on the employee. Just go to a different one if you want it to take less than 2 hours just to be told the wrong thing and have to go back and endure it all over again. read more

The older women was super helpful. The younger one ended up throwing away part of our paperwork, that we had requested back, and gave us 2 copies when we should have received 5 of all our RV dealer paperwork. We had to return to pick up the correct copies and fish the personal paper out of the trash. Simple tasks that we had made clear when we arrived. If we could give a higher rating we definitely would! in our final RV trip we were traveling to Arizona, our RV blew out a tire. With that, we decided to try and sell the RV in Arizona. When we couldn't find our registration we contacted the Marvin Road branch of the Washington DOL Agent office. Janelle gave us the utmost in premiere care and information. We filled out and copied the online form for a replacement registration and send it to the Marvin Road office. Realizing we had forgotten to add the check, we called again. Janelle let the staff know that 'the check was in the mail' and within 2 days we received a replacement registration and were able to deliver the RV to a consignment dealer where it was promptly sold. People are nice. Problem is with service. With 6 people waiting in line they closed the second window. One person trying to help a lobby full of people at 345 pm is not proper planning. People could be heard working in back but no offers to help the lobby. I wrote this review while waiting in line. If you visit this location i hope your day is not busy. read more

I was looking for somewhere close by to get my tabs renewed. This place is conveniently located near me however I did read a few reviews saying the staff is awful. I decided to go in anyways. The second you walk in the door you feel very unwelcome. And office full of young girls who all stare at you and the room becomes silent. I did get my tabs very quickly but the staff needs a little bit of help. I won't be going back. read more

The employees at Hawk's Prairie are friendly and knowledgable. I had to bring my three year old son with me, and they showered him with treats and praise. When he started getting fussy at the end of hr visit, they didn't bat an eye. This was the best experience I've ever had at a licensing branch. read more

These folks have helped me out every time I turn around. Always professional, always the right answer, even if it isnt the one I wanted to hear. Wish they accepted credit/debit cards, but heck eventually the state and the licensing offices will catch up with the times. I am a Washington state resident, and also in the military. Often they are the first source I go to for getting my stuff straight when I move, in state, out of state, or between other states. Always happy and helpful. read more

We visited this office with my elderly aunt and the lady assisting at the front counter was upbeat, knowledgeable and friendly. She helped my aunt and was very understanding when my aunt needed to have information repeated and explained. We would recommend this licensing agency to everyone. read more

This is the worst place to go! Super long lines.. and super slow clerks! When on says "I'm just a hot mess" ok sis pull it together! I renewed my tabs online which I always do, went in.. waited for the slow people to help explain to a man that if he build his own boat what he would need to get tabs for it.. come on! Their is a lobby full of people! I finally get to the desk and the I tell her I'm picking up tabs I renewed online she said id please. I said I was just here last week getting tabs for my husbands car and they didn't ask for it.. she says well I need it.. ok great I'm on my lunch and have to go back to my work since I work in the same parking lot.. stand inline again.. why even renew them on line when I spent so much damn time in the line! Hire some people that are not a "hot mess" and fix this crap! Or get people that know what they are doing .. read more

Usually expect a long wait and a hard time. This person was knowledgeable, helpful and personable. FWIW: this was my fourth attempt to get a boat and trailer registered, so I may have been expecting a problem. But there wasn't any problem. So, yeah, paying by check was slightly inconvenient. But, they were the only place open on Saturday. They did know what documents were needed - for example, I did bring a major repairs bill to show the boat was in serviceable condition - and processed them promptly. And, face it, who wants to wait in line, pay money, and do paperwork? So, got'er done. Mostly painless, and good to go. What . . . ? read more

NEVER AGAIN! I chose this location because I could park conveniently. I had a back injury that resulted in severe pain and lack of mobility. I had to go get permanent disability placards. If anyone is familiar with the process, you must go to the doctor, get an actual form filled out by the office, have the doctor sign a form and provide a "prescription" that you must then take to the auto licensing. It's no easy feat with severe pain and lack of mobility. I went inside, waited for the man ahead of me to finish his transaction. As he left, the lady told me she'd be with me in a few moments because someone was waiting on the phone. I told her "no problem" and sat down (again, due to pain; I can't just stand and wait, even with high doses of morphine). As I'm waiting for her to finish with the phone call, a lady with a toddler and a baby in a car seat comes in. She had the car seat hanging from her arm, no stroller, with a toddler on the other hand. She immediately walks to the counter, not bothering to ask if I'm waiting, or next. Apparently something that would seem like "common sense" or "courtesy" to inquire if the person waiting had been helped or if they were "next" was just not as "logical" to some people. So the woman (in her 20's) working there gets off the phone and immediately starts helping the lady. She says her husband had called and she "just had to pick up some tabs". And then the employee starts helping her. So at this point, I'm thinking, "Seriously? Well, she's just picking them up. Quick and easy, right?" Of course not. So then she can't find her name. So then she relays her husband never actually told her WHICH location they were at. So then they have to do a search. So then the employee tells her "Well the tabs are expired; the car has to be registered before you can do tabs." And then she actually starts asking her for her information. !!! I seriously couldn't believe it. It was rude, time-consuming, completely void of any type of actual courtesy or customer service, and absolutely inconsiderate. The lady had NO IDEA what I was there for. She had no idea because she had never bothered to ask. I waited for the old man. I waited for her phone call because they had been on hold already. But I was clearly next, whether standing or sitting. So I actually got to my standing position and called her out on it. I told her she was unbelievably rude and inconsiderate, and that I had clearly waited patiently, only to then have this other rude woman just jump the line and not even bother asking if I had been helped. And the woman actually refused to even acknowledge she was even in the wrong. She refused to take any responsibility for her own poor behavior and lack of customer service skills. THAT was what irritated me. The other woman actually was apologetic and told me "she didn't realize I hadn't been helped". MOST people would have enough courtesy to at least inquire if there is another person that is clearly waiting. The entire office is only 8 feet wide, it's not like I was off in a corner somewhere or she could "overlook" me. She was just oblivious. But then when I actually asked the employees name, that obnoxious, entitled little witch actually just blew me off and refused to tell me. She just yelled out "OK THANK YOU! Have a nice day!" As if I was the one with the problem and was rude. So no. Never again. And I will tell EVERY SINGLE PERSON about that experience. I'll post it on every review I can find, and my next step is to file a formal complaint. She was wrong. I was barely able to move, was clearly walking with a limp and a physical impairment, and I was clearly not an able-bodied person. Even still, MY TIME is JUST AS VALUABLE as anyone else's, including a woman dragging around a car seat and two kids without a stroller. That's on HER if she wants to walk around like that; her time was certainly not any more valuable due to her children or lack of car seat. Whatever happened to actual common courtesy? Customer service? I've never experienced anything like it. That's where the power of social media and our financial support of local businesses come into it. That place will never get my business again. I did my tabs there for over 10 years and never had an issue other than long lines and slow service. Never again. The woman behind her stepped out to observe, and whether she was her supervisor or not, that employee was in the wrong. But the irony is truly just how common complaints about this place obviously are. So here's another: The WORST customer service, NO ACCOUNTABILITY, REFUSED to acknowledge any wrong-doing, and then actually refused to even supply her name. She's not hard to miss though: She's the entitled, below average intelligence under-achiever working for minimum wage in a strip mall void of manners and class. This place really needs to get a debit/credit card machine or an ATM that can be in service on just one visit would be nice. Best said, bring enough cash with you to pay for your transaction plus a $5 service fee or plan on walking down to Safeway and paying a $3 fee there too unless you have Bank of America. (Option two is the drive through at Wells Fargo, they dont have an ATM inside the bank) Furthermore, even worse than the payment situation in my opinion, the employees have no pride in there job and are just filling the space. read more

My sister-in-law used this agency to license her car so when she passed away I called as an executor of her estate to see what I needed to do to register it to a new owner. I live in California. This agency told me I had to come to Washington before a judge to get a Letter of Administraion. Totally incorrect. I called the Washington DMV and then the Dept. of Licensing, and they gave me correct information and forms to do by mail. read more

She had to constantly interrupt other gal and her transaction further slowing down the process. I wouldn't bother going to this place again. I would rate this office 0 stars if I could, I recently went into Hawks prairie licensing to get information on a boat I purchased and the girl I believe her name was jessica was so high on something her eyes were rolling to the back of her head, she couldn't even finish giving me the information she had to turn to her co worker and ask her for help giving me the information. I then had walked out to my car and seen that girl walk out and go light up a ciggerette outside and sit on the bench and nod off a couple times, I then walked back into the office and told the girl working there that the jessica girl was messed up on something and if she didn't report it, I would. In which I tend to do because I walked in there the other day when it was out the door busy and that jessica girl was still working there and the girl I talked to about her being messed up on some sort of drug wasn't. This was the most in professional place I have ever been to and I will not recommend this place to anyone. read more
