Came here for the introductory sewing class led by Naomi, and I have to say -- Naomi is an amazing instructor. They were patient, willing to answer every question...and I had a lot of them! They never made anyone feel bad for asking. They also set up the Zoom camera really well so we could clearly see what they were doing on the sewing machine, even when their back was turned to the class. It was a unique setup I have not seen before, and honestly something other instructors, coaches, and teachers should consider using for live demonstrations. The front desk staff were incredibly kind, foo. They took the initiative to introduce themselves while i waited in line and made surey questions were answered right away. They never acted too busy to help, which made the whole experience feel welcoming. I would definitely come back -- even just to study. The library has beautiful artwork displayed throughout, and the space feels open without being overwhelming, especially with the many book shelves. Can I give the library 4.5 stars??? 4 stars for the library itself, and then 5 great big golden glitter-covered stars for the employees. The building is super nice -- light, airy, welcoming. The book choices (I'm mostly a non-fiction reader) are ok. I like that I can make copies. But the people who work there are top-out-of-sight knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Love the location of this library, tucked in the trees. It's not a huge library by any means, but I love that there are several libraries in the TRL system that you can request books from, and also a decent amount of ebooks available. It's super clean, well organized, and the staff is very friendly. Convenient drive up drop off box in the parking lot. read more

Beautiful library with exceptional staff who are very helpful. My only suggestion is to provide assistance to elderly, pregnant or disabled patrons who have heavy pageturner kits to take to their vehicle and find it difficult to maneuver the carts proved by the library. read more

It's kind of hidden back in the forest and you hardly know not only the city of Lacey offices, but the library and the police station are also back there. Often times I catch deer trotting around because the surrounding landscape is very plush. It's on the same street as St. Martin's University. There is a election ballot drop off and a place to get your passport processed. They take photos on site. I've only been to the city of Lacey once to file a police report and there was no standing in line for a simple report. I had printed it from online and brought it in and an officer/receptionist processed the form in about 5 minutes and gave me a police report number. With so many police always circulating around Lacey I never feel unsafe. read more

Lacey has a very pleasant library. My family and I enjoyed going through the selection and reading a few children's books. We went on a Saturday and there was a decent crowd inside though not large enough to make our time there uncomfortable. They have a wide range of books and the kids section has toys for the little ones. I did notice the computer section was very full which is great but if you need to use one there may be a slight wait. I spoke with two of the librarians while we were there and they were both polite and happy to help me (or seemed happy at least ;) ). Overall it's a very nice and warm place to sit down and read a book. read more

The manager is horrible person who seems to hates small children. She makes weird backwards decisions. I've heard horror stories of her kicking paralyzed children, in wheel chairs out of story-time because it was the "wrong age group". She kicked a kid and mom out of the library because he was crying when another kid punched him in the face. The kid was a foster child and the library kids play area is used for meet-ups for foster families. The children are sweet but not supervised by their parents. Instead by very sketch teenagers or young adults who do not watch them. The library manager lets them run rampant and if you speak up she asks you to leave. I wouldn't recommend it for mom's or young kids especially if you are used to normal libraries and staff. read more

If you use the online much (and I assume you aren't reading this review on a printout that someone handed you) you can use the regional system of branches to find most anything that you are looking for, if you are flexible with your reading schedule. And, with all of those internet stations, how on earth am I the first one to review this place? It's right next to the police station, so don't speed to get here and use your turn signals. I like this library a LOT! It has been here for years and has kept up with the demand of technology including computers for the most part. There are talking books, possibly for the reading/vision impaired mostly. I use them at times because I cannot read books very fast and I enjoy talking books much more than struggling with a book. I think, however, this little library struggles with growth issues from the community and the nearby St. Martin University. While the library is not a collage library, it draws in students from that level and again, it becomes part of the over growth issue. The library is nicely divided into childrens/teens/adults sections as well as desks in the adult area mostly along the windows for (college) students to get away from school and study. I like the lay out of the main part of the library. It has an open feeling. Children can be seen AND heard. Librarians as well as parents can help the children right away. The library has a meeting room where they hold meetings and show special movies, at no cost, to the public. The restrooms are right outside the door to this room and just before going into the main library itself. The entire library is clean and inviting. Any paper finding its way to the floor is immediately picked up. THE ENTIRE LIBRARY IS HANDICAP ACCESSABLE. The air in the library is clear and doesn't smell musty like old books can smell. There is a wide selection of books of all kinds, magazines, and newspapers. There are several staff waiting to help. I have always kind of gotten lost in libraries. All you need to do in this library is ask for help and help you will get. It is easy to renew material, sometimes over the phone as long as there isn't someone waiting for what you have. My favorite thing about this library is the setting. Whoever planned this library left it tucked away in tall original tree growth with plenty of parking. Well, the parking was enough back then but the trees are terrific and the library is on the public bus line right near the transfer station so hop a bus and go to the library!!! I have been going to the Lacey Timberland Library for 23 years. This was the first place I got a library card. It's a good place to spend the day looking for books to read. It's a nice size and a good place to come with children during rainy days. A person can check out up to 50 books at a time. I've certainly been tempted to do this! Lacey Timberland Library has saved me so much money over the years. Having a chance to browse books is great when deciding if you want to buy your own copy. They also have taken all of the gently used books and trade paperback comics I donated. I love this place and visit often. I'm definitely a fan. read more

I've been to this location a few times over the past couple of months. It's a smaller branch, but it has a nice selection. I wish it opened a little earlier than 10am, but it's not a huge deal. One thing I like is the self-checkout feature. This allows you to check out books without waiting in line for a librarian to assist you. The typical rental for books is three weeks, so that's a good amount of time to borrow a book. The parking is somewhat limited, and the lot can get crowded. There is an after hours book drop that you can drive up to. read more

The Good: Location 50 books at a time are able to be checked out They offer self check out They offer lots of activities They have a lot of internet ready computers They have books for sale at the front. The bad: The staff are a bit curt IMO. I moved here and went to get a card and was confused as there was both a front desk and an information desk. We had to show something with our address on it which was weird cause they didn't care what. The DVD selection is severely lacking. All in all a good and efficient library. read more

Such a cozy library with friendly faces that greet you and are quick to help if you need it. I loved taking my toddler son to story time to interact with other kids, such a great environment. Beautiful hidden library. If you blink you will miss the entrance. It is next to the police station. This is the place to be most rainy days so come and be aware of the busy parking lot. I have come on different days and at different times and it is always busy. When you go in to the library the reception counters are there with helpful people happy to assist you. The library has lots of space, tables and computers. If you live in the area you may print for free. The children's section is filled with toys for the little one's to get distracted while you pick books for them to read; at least that is what I do. The movie section is not very big and the selection is very poor, but you are able to put items on hold through the website and pick them up when they come in, that includes books too. Don't forget to visit the bears inside the logs outside by the parking lot. read more

I love Timberland libraries, I go there often and greatly miss being able to freely visit, due to the closer because of the coronavirus. I enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, the usage of office equipment, computers, fax and copiers. I appreciate the 50 free copies. I miss being in the quiet atmosphere and preparing paperwork at the spacious tables. I also appreciate the free tax forms offered, let alone all the many movies and books to enjoy. Hope you open up soon, but I understand you are closed for our safety and the safety of your employees. Very sad you must stay closed. read more

Such a cute little library tucked away in what feels like Yosemite Park to me. Lacey library reminds me of the library I grew up with - small enough to be comfortable but modern enough to offer online borrowing and e-books that can be downloaded onto your kindle. The process to get a library card was quick and we were able to borrow books right away. The library also offers residents great perks like free photocopying and printing - always a plus! read more

I have only been to the Olympia library so far living here, I recently moved in lacey and wanted to check this location out. I stopped in and it was very nice, high open ceilings, I walked around to get a feel. They have a great kids section area, they have a room where they hold events. They have everything from movies, cds, books on tape, magazines, newpapers and of course many books. Great about timberland, you can look up online and reserve and they let you know when it arrives by email or phone, however you set it up. Long check out time, ohh and this location is very organized. They also have space to read or use the internet and study. And easy self check out. read more
