I don't ever do this but I just feel that I have to speak my mind over my experience. I went in to this place thinking it was going to be great. The place was super packed with locals so I knew it was going to be delicious. I was so wrong. I don't know but what I ordered looked like they threw in a pot and called it a day and then the waitress that sat me down for over half an hour never checked on me didn't apologize about the time or why the food came out that way and I could tell she knew I was right bc she apologized. I finally had to ask her what was going on. Her answer was the kitchen was packed while other people were being served around me that were seated after me. I don't know if it was because I didn't look Salvadorian or she forgot to put in my order but I will NEVER GO BACK. I had to leave pay for what I had consumed because I got tired of waiting for my food and leave. read more

I have been eating here as long as they have been open. Their desayuno completo is delicious with great tasting refried beans and the tortillas fritas with queso on top are so so good. The coffee is always hot and has a great flavor! The portions are always generous! I have eaten the carne asada, arroz con pollo, ceviche, pollo encebollado, Pan con pollo, Cameron frito, pupusas just to name a few and they never disappoint. The owners are kind and service has always been good. The decor and ambiance inside is nice there is a fish tank and TV with music videos or soccer and they always have decorations from El Salvador or for the time of year like at Christmas. read more

I love this place but I'm giving them a 3 star just because it's supposed to be "Salvadorean" restaurant and they don't have salvadorean horchata!!! They don't have huevos con chorizó either! Besides these issues food is good. read more

Pupusas revueltas here are ON POINT, they have those much sought after burnt cheese bits and the flavor of the filling is exactly what I was hoping for. And the curtido is delicious. Pupusa spots are definitely hit or miss, I'm so glad I came here. The to go service was quick despite there being a lot of people seated. read more

Can't believe I found a great authentic restaurant in houston. This is by far great food and service. The food is amazing the portions are large and the price is unbeatable. I ordered a pan con gallina it was $5 and a desayuno plate It was also $5.I have to say this has been best Salvadorian restaurant in houston. There were a variety of drinks available maranon, sebada, tamarindo, and Jamaica but no horchata. But the food, service and price made up for it. I'm so happy found this restaurant. read more

Great Salvadorian Food. The pupusas are delicious filed with cheese, beans or chicharrones. The seafood soup is ok. They have a variety of juices, the Jamaica juice is good. The yuca and pork grinds are yummy! The tamales are the best! Plantanes are great too. read more

I visited this restaurant last week with a friend of mine from El Salvador. She says this is like back home. We had the vegetable soup with chicken. A cheese pupusa and chicken tamale. The soup was fantastic, a lovely broth with chunks of perfectly cooked calabasa, carrots and chayote squash, yum. The chicken, a roasted breast on the side, was a real "yard bird" the flavor was rich and chickeny, Like what chickens used to taste like before mass cultivation and breeding muffled the real taste. The pupusa was tender and que rico!!! el sabor. OMG. Rich hints of green onion in the melted cheese surrounded by a light but crispy corn exterior. So good. The Tamale was delicious , but I was so full we took it home. We also had some juices with our lunch, maranon, the juice from the cashew fruit. Delicious and not overly sweet. Service was very good, and a nice selection of traditional condiments are available too. Worth a visit!! read more

I was really in the mood for pupusas so my coworker and I started looking up places and this popped up! So glad we came! We had their pupusa rellena, chicken tamales and fried banana. OMG we were in awe of how big these pupusas were! And the chicken tamales had so much flavor and bits of chicken and potato in every bite. The fried bananas came with cream. A bit of the fried banana with the cream was AMAZING! All of that food (plus I ordered to take some home for my husband) only came out to 22 bucks. WHAT?! I will be back very soon. This place is easy to get to, on the west side of Gessner just north of Memorial City Mall, so get over any angst you have about going to Spring Branch, please! Inside, the look is kind of sparse, with walls half painted in lime green, the El Salvadorian flag on the wall, Salvadorian money showcased, and those gold-rimmed chairs. Help me, but I think they represent that El Salvador is no longer ruled by a monarchy and is a republic. The menu is in Spanish only, so bring your dictionary or Spanish-speaking friend. Truthfully, if you have some Spanish knowledge, you're probably OK. There are a lot of fish dishes, but I had a delicious pupusa filled with cheese. My companion had the beef steak, which was accompanied by wonderful rice, salad, beans, and what appeared to be fried tortillas coated in cheese, but they were little wedges much thicker than tortillas. A cortada jar was on every table. A little spicy, but good. Service by a young, helpful woman was good. Price: can't be beat. Less than $15 for two people. BTW, if you like soccer, they have a large-screen T.V. playing the games. read more
