Over the 20-years that we have been in business we have literally hired thousands and thousands of CNAs at the eight companies we own and operate throughout the State. After a while you start noticing patterns and one of the patterns that we have noticed that compared to most CNA schools, Healthcare Training & Career Consultants (HT&CC) does a GREAT job of preparing CNAs for the workforce. And it's not just me, I have heard Directors of Nursing, HR Managers, and Administrators tell me that they get excited when they see that a CNA applying for a job graduated from HT&CC because they have noticed that HT&CC students tend to come to work far better prepared than most. We have notice that HT&CC graduates seem more comfortable assisting with the activities of daily living, but it's also the little things like already knowing the importance of knocking before entering a room - this is a dignity issue, the critical need to wash hands before and after caring for a patient, providing privacy and blanket coverage when giving a bed bath, even knowing the normal ranges of blood pressure, heart rates, and breathing - things that you would expect that a RN would know but not necessarily a CNA. HT&CC graduates come to work already knowing these things that may seem small to most, but are critical to providing quality care. So when I am asked for recommendation for a CNA school or if one of my daughters wanted to become a CNA, I would without hesitation encourage them to attend HT&CC. And if you want to work as a CNA, know that when we see that a CNA job applicant is a recent graduate from HT&CC they automatically move to the very top of our interview list. I have a license from another country, but it is not convertible to American driving license, so I had to basically go through the entire process again. I honestly thought it wouldn't be a big problem... until I faced the reality. There were so many technicalities on the driving test that I couldn't pass it. To the point that I started to doubt myself and developed driving anxiety. That's when I realized I needed to try something different. I needed help from a professional. And that's how I found Hoku Driving School. That was one of the best decisions I've made. Jesse is everything in one person. Super positive, encouraging, and also very informative. After just the first lesson, I felt a big shift in my confidence. I stopped doubting myself. And it wasn't just feel-good talk -- he gave me very practical, helpful info that actually made me a better driver. But what really made the difference were all the little tips and tricks on how to pass the test. On top of that, he's just a great person to spend time with in the car. We talked about different things, he kept my nerves down. He was cheering me on till the day I had a test. I really felt like someone was on my side, rooting for me. It was absolutely worth the investment, and now I'm recommending him to anyone who's going through this process. Don't struggle alone. Just hire a professional and save yourself the tears and the stress.

Therefore I purchased the living social deal for $21.00 and called Art of Charm school to schedule a lesson. I talked to one of the business owner (cannot remember the name) and she told me that the lesson will be held on either Apr 26 2014 or May 3 2014 from 10:00 to 11:30 am. I scheduled the class for May 3 2014 and she proceeded to take down my contact information. On May 3 2014, we showed up at 9:50 am and waited and waited. There was another family who had also signed up for their daughter to attend the etiquette class. We both waited until 10 am and there was no sign of anybody from Art of Charm School. We then kept calling the number posted on the Art of Charm School website to see if we can get a hold of someone to find out what is going on. Finally at 10:20 am, somebody from Art of Charm called us back and told us that the class had been cancelled as of May 2, 2014. She said that they had sent out an email on Friday May 2 evening to inform about the cancellation. However they were not expecting my son as my son's name was never on the class schedule. At that time, I was pretty livid. On a consumer's point of view, I understand that it it inevitable to cancel a class session at times. However it is extremely poor customer service to not have my son and the other family's daughter's information entered into their schedule at all which led them to NOT contact us about the cancellation. When I expressed to them how unsatisfied I was, they did not offer to remedy the situation by offering us a free lesson or discount of some sort. As a school who named themselves Art of Charm and teaches young children on etiquette, I feel 100% confident to say they have FAILED miserably.

There were 2 sessions and each class was limited to 16 participants and I was told the class books up quickly. The August class "Cooking Local Favorites: Korean" was taught by Chef Grant Sato, winner of the 2015 Global Taste of Korean International Cooking Competition. In the 4 hour class we cooked 3 recipes: Soondubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew) with tofu made from scratch!, Miyeokguk (Korean seaweed soup with beef), and Dakjjim (braised chicken with noodles and vegetables) Chef Sato's competition winning dish. Classes are held at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific's beautiful new kitchens on 4500 Diamond Head Road. Parking is right in front of the building and you are advised to wear close toed shoes and long pants. You can bring an apron if you want (I did not). All ingredients and cooking equipment are provided. Masks are required for participants. Upon arrival you are given the recipes and assigned to a station, 2 students to a station. My son took the class with me and we got the station right in front of the demo area which was nice. The stations each have two sinks, a stove, knives, pans, and the assistants bring you the ingredients for each dish. Chef Sato gives a demonstration at the front of the kitchen and everyone watches, then goes back to their stations to replicate what he just showed. The 4 hours pass quickly, there is much to do. I even learned how to cut up a whole chicken (my son would not touch it.) One of the things I really liked about this was finding out what exact ingredients Chef uses in his cooking so I took lots of pictures of the products. The resulting dishes were all delicious and we packed them up and took them home. There was a lot of food, enough for several dinners. I will definitely take more classes here! HINT: Since you are sharing a station, its fun to sign up with a buddy.

KCC Culinary School RULES!…read more The newest addition to KCC is The Culinary institute of the pacific located at the old Canon Club on Diamond Head Road. There is a gorgeous kitchen with state of the art preparation stations for each student, KCC has done a remarkable job to propel their Culinary program forward and upward. This first time, I had the privilege of visiting the kitchen facilities as well as sample food prepared by the students at the Culinary Institute for a contest sponsored by 7/11 Stores in an effort to expand on their 2019 take out bento menu. The contest will garner 2 winners with purse of $1000 and $750 respectively for the 1st and 2nd place winners. There were eight contenders. Each entry had to contain local ingredients, healthy with conscience to nutritional value and the preparation cost price point had to be something reasonable for 7-Eleven to be able to resell the lunch meal. The meal had to also withstand the heat as it sits under the heating element waiting to be purchased. I enjoyed their sampling process. We got to try each entry served in something more than bite sized portions, chat with each contestant about their creation, chat with the educating staff at the Culinary Institute and always with Yelp Events we got to visit and chat with fellow Yelpers old and new. Congrats to all 8 entrants and kudos to both 1st and 2nd place winners! Be sure to stop in and visit a 7/11 store next year to try these great creations
