RED FLAG: They don't offer an accounting of their work; no breakdowns on frame, glass, mat, or labor. RED FLAG: We told them we wanted our piece floated. Upon learning what that meant, they actually said: "that would show the edges". RED FLAG: They don't use spacers to protect art from the glass. When asked about it, their rambling explaination of why this particular piece didn't need spacers came off more as a long-winded excuse for; we forgot the spacers. RED FLAG: Dynamic pricing. Without a breakdown of accounting, your frame costs will vary by the art's perceived value. A frame for Aunt Ginny's cat painting will cost X. EXACT same frame for limited edition signed print will cost X times, who knows. When I specifically asked about this, their comeback was "oh, this is just about the cost then". No, I was trying to prove my point of their suspicous pricing policy. Not looking for a refund. I got what I got. Just trying to warn others. Go elsewhere. It's sad that local places like Havens Fine Framing rob people. This is the exact reason why mom and pop stores are shutting down left and right. I was the "he won't know" customer who walked in to get two prints, made by my father, matted with the frame/glass that I already had. $167.62 later, I got my prints back. They look great. However, my father, seeing the bill was beside himself. Having worked in the art industry his entire life, he said I got totally robbed and played. I reached similar stores in the Charleston area and was told it would be around $30-$45 to do the same job. The bill says $32.40/frame to be disassembled... How in the world does it cost $64.80 to remove the contents of a frame that were held together by four corner clips?! Don't know what else to say besides I will never be back and I will never recommend. Shocked and saddened that gouging the pockets of local customers is forefront. read more

Expensive but they are so willing to help, give you all the time in the world and have godzillion choices for framing and mats. Most importantly, they know what they are doing. It is worth it to have my paintings professionally framed instead of going somewhere cheap like Michael's -- this is typically something I will look at on my wall every day so I had better like it. read more

Havens has framed and mounted a few maps for me and done a phenomenal job. They have an overwhelming selection of frames but their staff is expert at assisting with ideas.
