While the pace of play was a little slow, that's not unusual for a Saturday. The tee boxes were in great shape, the fairways and greens were in good shape, the bunkers in poor shape. If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to star in a National Geographic documentary called "Mosquitos Take Over Arizona" -- this is the place. The second you pull up to hole #1, about 300 mosquitos personally welcome you like it's their private country club. I swear the population of Green Valley is outnumbered 3 to 1 by these things. Drain that pond please. The course itself is easy, weather was nice, but who cares when you're basically donating blood every 5 seconds? Even the cart girl looked like she gave up on drinks and was selling bug spray -- shelves of it like it was Costco. Pro tip: unless you want to come home with more mosquito bites than strokes on your scorecard, maybe try a different course... or at least bring a beekeeper suit. 0 stars. read more

I really enjoyed my round here. Haven is a pretty simple golf course. As long you keep the ball on the fairways, you should just be fine. For the summer season, Haven is in very good shape. The greens were in decent condition, and the fairways were in very good shape. The pace was surprisingly faster than I expected. The marshall was very friendly and helpful. It was the most unenjoyable round I've had. The pace of play was horrendous. There were 4 groups on one hole at times. What's the point of a course ranger if he's not going to do anything about the pace of play. Waiting 3, 4, 5 minutes to hit every shot is not my idea of a good time. If you golf here, you won't be able to stand still without getting swarmed by misquotes. The fairways and around the greens were ridiculous. Huge dirt patches in the fairways. The fringes around the greens were nonexistent. You're chipping off of dirt or putting through weed patches. Just an overall bad experience. read more

The course is a pretty basic course and you can find deals. Wouldn't pay regular price to play here. Tee times are 7 minutes apart. There were multiple groups on every hole. The ranger did come around several times but I think the issue with pace of play is that they are putting too many people on the course. Ten minute tee times are the best. It's too much about how much money they can make and less about the quality of the experience of the patrons . read more

Great local course to have fun and get a relaxing round of golf in with friends. Inexpensive course so don't be expecting all the bells and whistles, but course and equipment is clean and kept up well. Cheap stiff drinks and the Braut/Beer special for $7 is a winner. If I could I would give this place zero stars just because of Stephen Kirk the pro shop attendant. After 9 holes we were badgered by the pro shop attendant Stephen Kirk about our rate of play. He complained about us being too slow even after waiting to tee off (after our set time) and having people way behind us. Right off the bat he came at my group with a terrible attitude and sent others in carts to tell us to hurry up our play. To my face he told us we were too slow and refused us service in the bar because we needed to hurry up ( even though there was a group a hole and a half behind us). I have never been treated so terrible at any other course in AZ and Stephen Kirk really made this a horrible experience for my group and myself. Haven has always been a staple on my annual trip to sunny Green Valley. The prices are always cheap, the condition is always on point and I have never had an issue getting on the course. The layout isn't too tough, it's a little long but you can typically spray it all over the place and still score pretty well. Set in the middle of a housing development the views are not spectacular, but they are good enough for the price you pay. Along with the great golf conditions, there typically is a college coed beer girl getting the old men out on the course hot and bothered so that's always a positive. This golf course is the definition of a goat ranch. If you're looking for a crappy kept course, then this is it. It is kinda overpriced too for what it is. The staff is very friendly however. The greens are horribly kept- they had sand literally all over and were not aerated and were super bumpy and the ball did not roll over smoothly at all. read more

Tried the Par 3 course today and I would never play here again. Holes were only 50-70 yards at most, greens were 1/3 the size of a regular green, and the greens were cut worse than shag carpet. No water, no bunks, no fun. Unless you are an absolute beginner, this course has no value. Even if you just want to work on your short game, the condition of the greens ruins it. read more

The Haven golf club is a nice 18-hole track, in a community of about a dozen choices. It's a long time favorite of Tucson Snowbirds with an easy access from the Interstate 19. It has a good driving range and a very attentive staff. Almost operates like a good muni even though it is privately owned. Certainly an enjoyable round of golf on most days. read more

In my 40 years of playing golf have I never been subjected to such rudeness by the pro shop. Who do they think they are. I inquired about a physical handicap exemption and was told I had to make an appointment with the manager who of course is medically trained?? He told me would make a determination after our scheduled appointment. Are you kidding me??? I am Vietnam veteran and I asked him if that meant anything and he rolled his eyes and looked away. Whoever owns Haven needs to review this situation and others. On the way out a man with a cane behind me said he only hits practice balls because of their policy towards the physically handicapped. If you want to exclude seniors, veterans and the physically handicapped you should say so and we will steer clear of these rude people. read more

We had a tee time today to play nine holes at Haven. We got out roughly on time expecting to play in about 2-1/2 hours. That seems like a reasonable time for a nine hole round when the course is full. Unfortunately we ended up right behind the Nine & Wine Women's Group. After 45 minutes of play we had just managed to tee off on the third hole. When we pulled up on the tee box at Hole #3 all three groups of women were still on the third hole. We sat at our tee shots waiting while one group cleared the green and the group in front of us sat chatting in the shade approximately 275 yards from the green. At one point I got up and raised my arms at them in a what's up gesture. One woman in the group responded in kind to me. I yelled that they could hit as they were not going to come anywhere near the green. They did hit and as expected managed 100 or so yards (i.e. set up for two more shots to the green). I figure our pace for nine holes was going to be on the order of four hours. Does that seem ridiculous to you? We decided that spending most of our afternoon sitting in the cart waiting on these women was pretty much going to suck so we headed back to the Pro Shop. As we drove back there were two groups waiting on the #3 tee and one just coming off the #2 green. When I went into the Pro Shop the man behind the counter, after I explained the delay with the women's group, first claimed he didn't know what I was talking about. Like he didn't know he had Nine & Wine on the course? I could have been nicer I'll admit, however it was clear he wasn't interested in doing anything about the situation and I was frustrated. I apologize for my brusqueness. I asked if we could go out on the back nine to which he responded no, the course is full. I suspect he could have allowed that, but simply chose not to do so I'd be punished for my transgression. He did say that he would see if he could get a Ranger to go out. We left forfeiting our $48 fee. On the way to the parking lot I encountered a Ranger. I explained the problem. In a nutshell he told me that he's tried to move these ladies along in the past to no avail. He also told me that if he did go out to move them along he'd get into trouble with Marvel (Course Professional). It was pretty apparent he wasn't going to solve this situation. It also appears to me that he's hindered in performing his duties by the staff. Some simple concepts regarding course etiquette....ready golf, keep up with the group in front of you, pick it up and move on if you're falling behind. My suggestion is that you schedule these women as the last ones on the course the day they play. If they can't finish their round before sunset maybe the next time they'll do a better job of moving along. You can't continue to allow them to impact play on the course as they did today!! I'll certainly never play at Haven behind any women's group again, and I'm going to make sure I understand traffic on the course before I come out to play so that if it sounds excessive I can cancel. I suspect you'll have more and more problem with cancellations if you continue to let this group of women impact the pace of play as they were allowed to do today. read more

I will NEVER step foot on this course again. I would use the range a few times a week because of the convenience and location to my work. But after being treated as less than a human the past two times I have been by the gentleman (and I use that loosely) because either I am a woman or that I am younger, or hell even both. I was completely appalled and embarrassed. I have tried to contact the General Manager in regards to the way I was treated and the attitude of the man behind the counter but have yet to receive an email back. read more

G.S.M. we played golf today at Haven, front nine went well when we got to #10 two guys had cut in front of us on # 11 one of them was throwing up regularly and on 12 the driver was having to stop the cart so the guy could throw up. They were the two slowest players ever but we didn't say anything but finally on 16 they just started standing in the fairway and looking at us .I called the pro shop and asked if they had a marshal and he said no whats the problem and I told him there were drunks in front of us holding us up he laughed and said he would send somebody out when we got to 17 they were sitting in fairway just staring at us so after they flipped us off we went to 18 around them while on 18 tee box the marshal drove up to 17 green saw who they were and turned around and left without saying a word to them so apparently they new them. If this is a public course why would the city put up with this kind of stuff we play at Torres Blanca and Canoa and never have problems.Worst experience ever on golf course read more

Very disappointed with the course as a whole.... I went to play a respectful game with my brother, uncle, and friend. The whole time the ranger was following us telling us we were going too slow when the gap in front of us to the next group was as far as the one behind us. We got scheduled in front of a tourny which wasn't my problem nor was anything said beforehand. (even though like I said we weren't holding up any golfers). Then he proceeded to drive around us while we were trying to putt which I felt was very rude along with telling us to skip a hole when I payed for 18 . In between the 9th and 10th whole I decided to get a sandwich from the restaurant which I then found mold on the bread and had to return as well and when I complained at the front desk at the end they only laughed at my expense I may not be a great golfer but I know plenty of people that are and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone read more

2nd time out in 3 weeks that the marshall has chosen friends or bosses over paying guests. On fathers day, I paid full price for 2 foursomes. We were told to "speed up" by the 4th hole, As the owner was playing behind us and was a fast golfer. We weren't slow nor behind. The group in front of us wasn't playing slow either. They had a threesome in front of them, so yes, the 3 some was done on the hole a little faster. I am not a professional golfer, I take some time. I like to play and I don't like feeling I can't go look for a ball that is a little out of bounds, (or on opposite fairway) , that I can't study my putt. The group behind us with the owner never had to wait either. At the end the marshall said "see you finished before the heat.) Yeah, because I didn't finish playing out most holes. We finished first 9 holes in less than 1 hour 40 minutes. Too fast for a learning golfer. The visit before we were told we hit into the group in front of us. Those were his friends (Marshalls words) Well talk about slow. a threesome,that when called to tee off at first hole, THEN went and got water, bathroom, etc., that had to take both carts to a persons ball, leave carts in front of greens. Oh, and then when they said we hit into them? They were done and standing at their cart at side of green. Yes the ball hit in that area and came within 20 ft. That is not hitting into someone. That is stupidity on their part. Oh, and the ladies tees? what a joke. I forgave them last year, as they said they were redoing them. This year? when you can't find grass, nor a level surface, it is a disaster. I would rather play at Torres Blancas (which is in horrible shape from what I have heard) then Haven now. read more
