This was for my boyfriend's birthday and his name was not on the sign when we walked in, despite me listing that in the paperwork. In the past for my birthday, I have also gotten a card. But nothing here. My boyfriend also didn't want his feet touched and that was also listed in the paperwork. Unfortunately that was not followed. We were brought to our locker rooms and they were clean, had our names and chocolates in the lockers. Very nice touch! Our robe sizes and slides were also in our lockers. There is a large shower, 2 bathroom stalls and vanity with make up lighting. We then walked to the lobby area. This was where we started to have thoughts. Employees were talking in full volume. Not very relaxing. They also kept coming in and out of the room, talking, stocking snacks constantly! Again not very relaxing. The water was nice with a lemon. My boyfriend went to get water for hot tea but the water was room temp. Not very comforting. The massages were nice. I had Ingrid and she was lovely! She did a great job and was soft in speaking during the massage. My boyfriend said his massage therapist was talking at normal volume and didn't find it as relaxing. Afterwards we said in the lobby area again. In my opinion, the fireplace at maple grove is more welcoming and comforting. The facility itself did not feel like an upscale spa. The waiting area was very small, restrooms were limited, and there was a tiny space for everyone to change and get dressed. There was nowhere to comfortably sit and do your hair or makeup afterward. For the prices being charged, we expected much more in terms of amenities, space, and comfort. We were also both very disappointed with our massages. I have had massages at resorts, local spas, boutique spas, and chiropractic offices, and this was honestly one of the lower quality massages I have received. I could not relax, the technique was disappointing, and there was a fan blowing on me along with distracting clicking and other noises throughout the massage. My girlfriend's experience was no better. She was noticeably flinching from the amount of pressure and pain during what was supposed to be a Swedish massage. She was still in pain for the rest of the day afterward. For the price, we expected quality massages and a relaxing, pampering spa experience. We received neither. We have had much better massages elsewhere for half the price. Very overpriced and incredibly disappointing. We were really looking forward to a relaxing spa day together and left feeling like it was anything but.

The view cannot be beat; you look outward to the most gorgeous view of Gull Lake - stunning! However, if your priority is a quality service then skip the manicure for sure. My manicure did not last 4 hours before it started to chip. By 24 hours, I had only three fully intact nails with polish. The nail tech used Dazzle Dry, which peeled within hours. HOWEVER, I strongly suspect the peeling occurred because the nail tech did not have me wash my hands after applying oil. Also, my pedicure is going strong with the same Dazzle Dry color (no oil). I do not expect any nail polish could perform with oil being laid down as a foundation. Net, it began peeling immediately. I suspect the nail tech is new to the profession based on the oil error, haphazard filing and service length (my appt ran 30 mins long). On the positive side, she was absolutely lovely to converse with (5-star for friendliness!). In fact, she gave us many dining pointers that led to the best meal we had at Classic Grill. I was there for the experience, so I did not complain. BUT, my experience is worth sharing in case your priority is a great nail service; you will not find it at The Spa at Madden's (at least not with the 2024 nail tech). To add, I selected a topper for my toes, but the same nail tech ran out of time to apply it, so I was sent off without the desired topper, and my massage therapist provided an awkward public scolding for my service running long. Main/Pedi - Service = 0, Experience = 5, Total Score = 2. Deep tissue massage - I gave explicit instructions upfront for the massage therapist to spend the majority of the 90-minute service on my neck and back. She saved my back until the last 10-15 minutes. Also, the pressure was definitely not deep tissue. Service = 1, Experience = 3, Total Score = 2 As a visitor to Madden's Spa over 18 years I wanted to LOVE my "spa day", BUT it was an epic fail, especially given I paid nearly $600 for my services and a pedicure for my SO. Please do better next season, The Spa at Madden's. 2024 didn't live up to my past experiences and arguably wouldn't meet anyone's expectations. My mother was…read moreconvinced to sign a contract for a "wellness package" that she didn't understand and didn't know they would keep charging her. They had no problem charging her for over 2 years without any activity on the account without even a single call or contact attempt to remind her she has massages she can use. When we tried to fix it and asked for details about how these "credits" could be used and how it could be cancelled, they only gave us half the information, causing her to be charged more. Apparently they want you to come in sick as well because when she was sick and called to cancel, she was not only charged the full price, she was charged a "premium" on top of that. It was so handy that they kept her credit card on hand so they could automatically apply these charges too! DO NOT go by anything told to you verbally. We were told to cancel by XYZ date to avoid another month. When she tried cancelling a full week prior to that, she was told she missed the 10 day window prior so she would be charged for 1 more month. Our experience was horrible and I do not recommend ANYONE sign a contract with them.
