I have always been extremely nervous about getting my hair done, pathetically similar to how people…read moreare scared of the dentist. However, Nicolette Cimaglia has done an outstanding job each and every time. Her confidence and skillset keeps me calm every appointment, and I fully trust her with my hair. So much so, that at my last appointment I simply went in and said, "Do what you think would look best"... The results were stunning! She knows exactly what she is doing and paints my hair smoothly and with ease. I was more than satisfied with the outcome of my cut and balayage/ombré. Nicolette is so talented and provides great advice for aftercare as well. Not to mention, the salon is very well-kept, clean, and cute. Her partner Emily also does a fantastic job from all I have seen! I will no longer go to anyone else, pledging my loyalty to her talent! In fact, I have even traveled home from my school in Nebraska just for a hair appointment. I would highly recommend her to anyone, especially if you are looking for a more creative hairdo! I came here for my hair and makeup trial. The vibes on the phone were so good! I felt really…read moreexcited. When I arrived I was met at the door by the "bridal expert" I felt like I was a burden right away. She was annoyed my hair was still somewhat wet and she said to make sure I wash it the night before and to tell all my bridesmaids to wash it the night before. Ok, not an issue. The makeup portion went fine we had a good conversation, so things were looking up. I think she did a great job on my eyes, but I really wanted some great contouring and I don't think she did that. Hair, this is where we went downhill. She said my hair was dry. I apologized and promised to use product before the wedding. She said not to use product the week before because she wouldn't be able to do anything with it, I've never heard of such a thing. I asked for two pieces left out to curl to frame my face. While trying to curl them she said she didn't like these pieces and asked if she can just CUT them off! She was frustrated I didn't have extensions. And I told her I was open to them if it was needed to achieve the look and if she couldn't do that without them to focus on either the updo part or just curl the bottom. Idk why, but she teased the bottom. It looked like a rats nest. I don't understand how she could leave it like that. How would that make me want to come back with my bridal party!? Maybe I was just an inconvenience and she didn't want me to come back? Really disappointed. As soon as I saw it I said thank you and paid $150. I didn't bother to comment or ask her to change anything cause at that point I knew I'd be going elsewhere.

Emily cut my hair recently and I was very pleased with the cut and the service. I had one of those…read morebad hair days and scheduled an appointment that same afternoon. I came a few minutes early and was seen right away, with no wait. I asked Emily what she thought I should do with my hair and she said she really liked my current cut and suggested a trim, taking off a half-inch. I was pleased with her honest judgement: I had gotten a cut in Montreal a few months back and was very happy with the cut except it was overgrown. She trimmed it quickly yet skillfully, blow dried my coarse wavy hair into a flattering style and then trimmed and textured the ends so the cut lays well. Best of all, my hair looks great even when I don't heat-style it. Dried naturally, the waves are nicely layered and just seem to fall into place--a sign of a good cut. I've tried a lot of places in Elmhurst, but this is the first place where I've gotten a great cut at a reasonable price ($35 with first-time customer discount, not incl. tip). This isn't a cutting-edge, hyped up salon--it's a comfortable, relaxed place, mostly patronized by middle-aged moms like me (as far as I could tell from my weekday afternoon visit). No frills, easy-going, no blasting music, no product-pushing. Just a great cut and great service. I'll be back! Disclosure: I will receive a $20 discount (or 20%, I can't remember) for this review, but I'd give Emily and the salon five stars anyway!

I had my hair cut and permed here back in late November 2025. There are many hair salons in…read moreElmhurst, and I chose this one because it was within walking distance of the brunch place I was visiting that day. I walked in without an appointment, and thankfully they kindly agreed to do my hair. This was my first time getting a chemical perm. I showed my stylist a picture of how I wanted my hair to look, but the curls in the picture were larger than what they could do. They recommended a "body wave perm" instead, and I'm glad I went with it! My stylist took great care with my hair and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The entire process, including the haircut and perm, took a couple of hours. The cost was a few hundred dollars, which I think was reasonable given the quality of the service. Right after the perm, the curls looked a little too small for my liking, but they gradually relaxed over time and eventually became exactly what I wanted. Now, about 10 months later, I still really like how my hair looks with the bigger, wavier curls. I usually wear my hair either in a ponytail or partially down, and I like both styles. I think the perm will probably last another 2-3 months, which would make it about a full year in total. I'm very satisfied with my experience at this salon and would definitely come back the next time I'm in town. Highly recommended!
