The "orginal" plan was for highlights, cut and style, but due to some previous treatments, etc. Neelo suggested we actually do a color correction on my hair to get it back to my natural color (with some highlights). She really did a GREAT job with the color. I am looking forward to seeing how it looks in a few weeks, but the color is very nice and it is no longer obvious where the growth has occurred. As for the cut, it was quick and just OK. No complaints, but I think more time could have been spent on it. I will say Neelo was VERY cooperative and helpful with ideas and options.

The outcome looked nothing like the pictures I showed and I ended up taking all the make up off when I got home and doing my own make up. After about 30 minutes with the makeup on, my face started to itch. The stylist also attempted to do a hairstyle I asked for but then told me my hair was too fine, So the simple half updo with braid that I wanted turned into loose curls with my hair down. I absolutely do not recommend the salon for hair or makeup.

Aside from the conversations he had the whole 4 hour appointment, that were continually referring to his privates without saying the actual word, I was uncomfortable the whole time. But aside from his comments after putting all the foil on he put me under the heater and then walked away and took his 3rd or 4th phone call since I'd gotten there. I knew personal stuff was happening with his family so I wouldn't have cared except for the fact my head started burning to the point my body was shaking. I tried to wave him down but he didn't see me nor was he paying attention. I tried to get another stylists attention but sadly she was busy with another client and didn't see me (which I don't blame her for obviously I'm his client his responsibility). I scooted out of the heater trying to get the foil off my burning scalp when he finally noticed and came over. Only to touch the foil and jump back saying "it got me!". Mind you he didn't get it off my head still so my scalp is still being burned while he's airing off his hand. After admitting it was too hot he pulled off my foils and even admitted I should have been under the heater an additional 5 minutes. I asked him and another stylist if my head had been burned or hair fried because the pain was not going away even after my hair was washed. Both told me no no your head is fine, it's not even red then proceeded to continue yanking on my hair or scrubbing it intensely during my wash. This was the most painful salon experience I've ever had. Needless to say when I got home I had my husband check my head as it still was throbbing only to find my scalp had indeed been badly burned and I had oils leaking out for days trying to heal it with a massive scab that lasted well over a month. Proceed here with caution.

I check d in and sat. The lash person ( never introduced herself) came to get me at 4:00. Yes, I sat for 45 mins! No exaggeration! The clusters were applied fairly quickly but didn't have much of a selection. Either "short"'or "really long". Looks like the needed to re-up on the supply. I typically wear individual lashes at $200 full set , but my regular girl is out of town for a few weeks. So I thought "why, not?" It's just temporary. The application was kinda weird and the station was dirty, especially the wax pot, my pet peeve, but I thought , how bad could it be?? I was told it would last 2 weeks but here we are Day 2 and I've already lost 2 clusters. Starting to look strange already. Definitely won't make it to 2 weeks. They looked great immediately after but probably won't go back because of the wait. Completely threw off the whole rest of my day. They need a receptionist.

At first I was discouraged when the Epitome Salon's phone was forwarded to a personal voicemail. However, much to my surprise Dion from Epitome Salon called me right back. At first it looked like I wasn"t going to make it in because of a schedule conflict despite the numerous texts back and forth. I cant believe how unbelievably professional and considerate she remained given the fact that I could just be another indecisive client potentially wasting her time. This woman is solid class. crazy skill and professionalism and a true business woman . Made it in and was amazed by her dedication to satisfy, professional attitude and beautiful salon, but more importantly, her hair skills. I hope I am in a city in which Dion works in the future, for I will surely have her do a weave or cut for me. This afternoon she repaired my destroyed tracks and even razor cut my hair making it look many times more current. Best of all, she charged me next to nothing relative to the quality of the work. I couldn't have been more thrilled to have stumbled across this kind of blessing in a city I was totally unfamiliar with. Dion is a first class national hairdresser for all types of hair (from weaves, to color, relaxers to cuts), despite her living in a small town environment like Raleigh.

What I appreciate the most was that she did not overbook and the entire session was focused on me. She consulted with me prior to the appointment and shared her vision with me and took feedback on my likes/dislikes. During the appointment, she was very attentive and we discussed my hair throughout and she thoroughly answered any questions that I had about the care of the style and of my hair. At the end of the appointment, she made sure that I was happy and took the time to make quick adjustments to small details that might impact my style later. I found her prices to be reasonable and she offered high-quality work in return. I was very pleased that she accepts electronic forms of payment (who carries cash these days, anyway?). Lastly, I learned that she offers other services, such as custom wigs, which I am excited to try!

I'm so proud of her for building her business and was honored to be her first client in her new space. I could rave and rave about her and the hair journey we've been on together, but to not bore you, I'll just say I trust her implicitly with my hair, and for me, that's huge. I've been going blonde for so long, my hair needed a break and a chop and we did just that my last visit. I haven't been brunette in a while (it's my natural hair color) and I was scared, but it turned out perfectly. I look like a whole new person! It's really is wild what a good cut/color will do for you! The space itself is modern, clean, and cozy but airy. It was easy to find, it's tucked in a salon next to Fortnight Brewing Wake Forest, and there is plenty of parking. If the door is locked, you just buzz your way in. Easy peasy. Again, I can't say enough great things about Paige, and I'm so happy for her!
