The Blackstar tour was amazing. Tour guide Joel was very knowledgeable about the canyon's history and the surrounding cities. He tells of the area's violent past and the people lived and died violent deaths there. The coolest thing is he hikes barefoot! I've hiked Blackstar before but at night it's a whole other experience. I didn't sense any spirits but I did at one point get a whiff of a camp fire smoke. No wild animals were seen or heard but it was a very windy night. When Jole spoke of certain violent or more scary historical tale the wind picked up even more then when he stopped so did the wind. Not every tour something will happen or spirts will be about. It will be cold so dress in layers you are not always walking to warm up. The path is packed dirt and some gravel with a few ruts from rain wash and slight inclines. About a 3 mile round trip with several stops along the way. I would love to do this tour again and some of the others. For less than $32 a person it's a great experience read more

What a great fun hike filled with historical stories about the area after hearing what all this canyon has seen it is no wonder it is rumored to be haunted ! We had such a great time and the short area that was very muddy added a little challenge and made it a better workout ...but after a night of rain it was to be expected to run into that . read more

This is for the black star canyon tour: I was there last night, it was fun! I loved our tour guide, he was in character the whole time and told us some very eerie and creepy stories and his own suspicions on why some ghosts remain there. I didn't personally see anything but it was all around just creepy being there. A couple of people claimed they saw a man sitting my the creek which I didn't personally experience. But I guess you have to go to find out. It was really cold the higher up we went so I wish I would have taken my jacket. But definitely have some water and comfortable shoes. For these colder months, take a jacket and beanie. The only downside I think was that there was a guy with a camera and his light was always on, I don't know if he was part of the tour or someone random that just came with but if his light had been off, I think it would have added more to the creepy factor. read more

We took the San Juan Capistrano tour with Allegra and it was wonderful. Lots of history, seeing some of the oldest houses in the area on Los Rios Street, learning about mission history after the earthquake were some of the experiences. Allegra added to the stories with pictures of people on her iPad. Mix of ages. The night was warm and clear. Downtown SJC was hopping, both before and after the tour. LOTS of outdoor entertainment. read more

I took the San Juan Capistrano tour last weekend and it was a blast! Such a fun way to spend a Friday night! Our tour guide was Kelly, who was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and entertaining and kept the tour moving at a great pace. Having spent little time in SJC, I knew almost nothing about the area beyond the mission, so all of the information was new and interesting: from the original adobes of Los Rios Street to the famed Mission San Juan Capistrano. Finding a cool venue/activity for our daughter's 16th birthday party that is as alternative as she is was a challenge. When I found Haunted Orange County and spoke to Ernie, I knew it was going to be great! Ernie was so easy to work with, always responding quickly and beyond accommodating helping me with ideas, decorating, music and food options. The Dr Willela Howe Waffle House in Santa Ana was the perfect venue to host a "spooky sixteen." Tina, our tour guide, led us on an amazing historical/haunted walking tour of historic Santa Ana and the Howe-Waffle house. The tour was followed by cake in the formal dining room of the Howe-Waffle house that Ernie graciously let me decorate in a Beetlejuice/Haunted Mansion way. I couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere, tour and nicer people to work with. Even if you don't do a ghost tour(which you should) visit the Dr Willela Howe Waffle House. It is a rare step back in time in Orange County that is a breath of fresh and spooky air. read more

Haunted Orange County - Historical Tours Near Me - Orange, California

Haunted OC hosted an evening with Bob Gurr over the weekend and I made it a point to attend. Bob Gurr is one of Walt Disney's original Imagineers. As he has said time and again, "If it moves on wheels at Disneyland, I probably designed it." He helped design the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Haunted Mansion, Monorail, People Mover, Autopia, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and encouraged Mr. Disney's love of trains. The event was held in Downtown Santa Ana in the basement of a building off of Sycamore. The ballroom was set up with tables, chairs, vendors, food, drink, and Disney memorabilia. Our ticket included a drink ticket along with appetizers and a Q&A session with Bob Gurr. There were other packages you could buy that included signed autographed photographs, signed Haunted Mansion prints, and Disney keepsakes. I was just thrilled to be able to take a photo with Bob. He's a funny gentleman who loves his gin martinis. Overall, it was a really great event. We had a good time listening to Bob tell his tales and answer questions. I was glad it was held in OC and not LA. I look forward to checking out Haunted OC in the future for cool events such as this. read more

I took the Santa Ana Tour on August 1st. Our tour guide was friendly, engaging and informative. The tour itself was very fun and had a nice focus on local history, much of which I had no idea about. With each location, we learned a little bit about the history and then ghost stories associated with that location, based on first hand encounters. The tour begins and ends at the Howe-Waffle Mansion, and after the tour, we were able to enter the house and see the first floor, which was itself amazing. I can highly recommend this tour and will certainly be taking the Orange tour in the future. read more

Enjoyed experience of the hike in Santiago canyon. Goof history lesson of the past . The guide was excellent and dressed the part. His voice and affect supported the spooky environment of the occasion . He is Ben dressed the part. He was great..warning us of rattlesnakes and latter during the hike he was the one who actually startled one.Did not really actually see a ghost but did sera orb on a photo. The people hiking with us did share interesting ghost stories that they had experience d. All in all it was fun and a different thing to do in Orange County. read more

I've been on the Old Town Orange and the Santa Ana walking tours. In both cases, the tour guides were extremely knowledgeable regarding not only the paranormal experiences but also the history of the area. What I enjoyed the most is that though the guides shared ghost stories with the group, they left it up to the individual to decide whether or not to believe. I strongly suggest that everyone take these tours if they have any historical interest in the area or just want to have an enjoyable 2 hour walk and hear some interesting ghost stories. read more

We had a great time on the evening tour of San Juan Capistrano. The meeting place was easy to find and parking was plentiful. Charles, our tour guide, was friendly and informative right from the beginning. He was dressed for the part and had a microphone which made it easy for everyone to hear. The history of the area was woven in amongst the haunted tales in an entertaining way. The group ranged in age from 10 -60 yrs, and everyone enjoyed it. Our tour lasted about 90 minutes. There are several other tours of different areas of orange County and we hope to explore those as well. My husband and I had a great time on the Santa Ana, Black Star Canyon and Old Town Orange tours. ALL guides were in character, enthusiastic, and enjoyed sharing their knowledge of their home towns. I do NOT recall religion ever entering any conversation. I highly recommend all three and cannot wait until next year to do them again! read more
