We just did the Tour of San Juan and it was super entertaining! The tour guide was Allegra Garcia and she did a super job. Who knew that pirates and privateers ransacked San Juan!

The bestie and I decided we wanted to see Black Star Canyon at night and the best way to do it is with a group. We set out with a decent size group and our tour guide in tow. He came dressed in character and lead our hike with amazing enthusiasm - he is infact an avid hiker and lives in the canyon itself. He was beyond knowledgeable about not only surviving off the land but about the history of these parts. Did I mention he hikes barefoot! There is a long history in Black Star which lends itself to the idea it's haunted. We didn't experience anything paranormal but then again, there is no way we'd do this hike alone at night, even as experienced hikers ourselves. It is dark and CREEPY.... Overall it was a great experience and we learned a lot along the way. It was especially fun listening to the mountain lions and other nocturnal critters in stereo as we journeyed through the canyon. We even got to pet a cute snake our group found on the trail. Looking forward to a much longer hike when it's offered to get out much deeper into the canyon. Tips: The entire evening is about three hours. The trail is not well lit and flashlights are discouraged so you can really adjust to the nighttime sites and sounds. I wouldn't recommend this for little ones - some dropoffs, snakes and an electrified fence out there. Dress warmly as the canyon gets cold at certain points and elevation changes.

Great host, very interesting venues and stories. The perfect spot to walk around and see history that still exists.

Is this a kid (8 years old) friendly event?

Ad long as they don't spook easily, I don't see why not. The black star canyon trail is very dark & cold at night so keep that in mind if you go to that one... Bundle up!

We took the San Juan Capistrano history/ghost tour with Allegra, and it was the best ghost tour I've taken.

Paranormal Investigation Review…read more Our group was lucky enough to do a Paranormal investigation of Dr Howe-Waffle House. We had complete access to both floors of the house, but not the attic, and the coach house. We were given three hours to do our investigation, and we had a blast. Noah and Jessica, the house docents, were awesome and answered all of our questions. PROS: * FREE Parking. Gated and safe. 14 spaces available with plenty of metered street parking. * Complete access to both floors of the house, except the attic, and both levels of the Coach house for your investigation * The House Docents, Noah and Jessica, were available before, during, and after our investigation. Helped out with questions and guidance to paranormal hotspots *There is a nice and clean bathroom on the bottom floor for our use. * We were able to use all our paranormal investigative tools during the investigation. * This Dr. Howe-Waffle House is Haunted.... Cons: * Very pricy for a 3-hour investigation. There were 10 of us at $75 a pop. * The more people you go with, the more noise pollution you will have. You constantly have to be aware of where your team is and communicate with them. Inside and outside noise travels well in the house. * Being on the corner of W. Civic Center Drive and S. Syucamore St., there is a lot of outside noise pollution from vehicular and pedestrian traffic outside. The night we investigated, it was raining, it was cool, but you definitely picked up the wet traffic outside * The upper level of the Coach house is a little cluttered, so be careful if you investigate in the dark up there We picked up multiple EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) from a little girl and a woman, Orbs, and a light anomaly in one of the bedrooms. What an awesome experience The Dr. Howe-Waffle House is Haunted, no doubt about it, and the ghosts there do have a story to tell if you listen closely enough

I finally got the chance to explore this beautiful place…read more. They do charge a fee to go in and also there's limit parking inside but there the street parking right next to it. There is no time limit to go inside and walk around and explore everything. I took my sweet time inside they do have people inside to guide you and explain details about the house. I did videotape the house just in case you guys don't have time to go. You guys can explore what I explored.

All I knew is that there was going to be food and wine for duration of an hour and a half and so I was super excited about that! Once our group of girls got seated in the trolley our host for the night explained what our tour was going to entail. We were going to visit ten local restaurants around old town Orange and enjoy different kinds of wines along the way. We each got our wine sippy cup and we were off! As we drove around Old town Orange I really enjoyed learning about the history of the city as well as learning about some of the historic sites. I actually live in Orange and I never knew that the center park was actually called the Plaza and not the circle. When we were ready to stop at the first place I was actually surprised that we didn't have to hop off but actually the restaurants brought the food to us in the Trolley! Each place gave us a small introduction of their food and business and gave us some small bites of some of their popular dishes. By the end of the tour I was pretty stuffed. Our group had such a great time and I only wished the tour lasted all night long..Haha!

There always seems to be people walking up and down the streets, enjoying themselves as they head to their intended destination. The majority of the shops still give off a 50s/60s vibe while still being very well maintained. There are so many antique shops, eateries, mom & pop shops, and so much more. Driving through today made me a bit sad to see that the famous, historic Watson's Drug Store and Soda Fountain is no longer there and has been replaced with a sleek, modern new eatery. The highlight, of course, is the plaza and fountain in the center of the roundabout. Such a beautiful and peaceful space even tho it is the smack dab center of continuous traffic.

My favorite part are the restaurants because there's endless options for lunch, desserts, coffee, and more. The fountain in the center of the roundabout has its good and bad days. It's very beautiful and peaceful to sit around. Unfortunately, it was under construction in the last couple years due to an idiot crashing into it. Parking can be a nightmare, despite what day it is and time of day. My biggest tip is to park in the free parking structure on Lemon St and Chapman. There's also street parking, but it's almost impossible to find. There's specific areas where you cannot park because it's surrounded by a neighborhood.

Of course you all know who Huell Howser is! Before travel shows, before Yelp there were Huell…read moreHowser shows - "California Gold" among them that took us to unknown places of this beautiful state. Huell liked to dig deeper and look for off the beaten paths places and talk to locals like no one else could. Huell liked Orange and decided to leave his legacy (archive from his shows), library, art collection, personal objects to Chapman University. The University arranged a wonderful permanent exhibit dedicated to Howser's legacy and life. The exhibit is located on the lower level (follow signs) of Leatherby Libaries on the beautiful campus of Chapman. Take Glassell Street toward N from Orange Circle, a quick 2 minute walk, then take a right to University Dr. and you'll see the big library building (there are maps on the campus, too). The exhibit is fun to visit especially if you like California and want to learn more about it, about Howser's interesting life and career and get behind the scenes of "California Gold". It's a lot of fun memorabilia on display, videos, photos, notebooks, cameras, book, cool dessert art (created from found objects) that Huell collected, way ahead of his time. A Tennessee transplant, Huell fell in love with California and the desert where he bought some cool properties. There's more to Huell than you think, he was a fascinating person that left a wonderful legacy behind. The best way to learn about it all is to visit this nice exhibit, very well put together. Free to visit, closed on Mondays and Sundays. Tues- Friday - 9-5, Saturdays 10 am - 6 pm. So, plan wisely. Nice restrooms, water fountains, great staff. They offer free California maps, a Huell special. It'll take you around an hour to see everything? It could be a fun activity while you visit Orange. Great exhibit, it makes you keep discovering places and people. Great example to follow, Huell is inspiring and so is his legacy. Next time I'll stop by Stan's Donuts in Westwood, I'll have to grab a "Huell" donut, great excuse, right?

I would like to see a gift shop open in the near future ;)

My family visited from out of town so we wanted to take them to some kid-friendly spots to entertain my 3-year-old niece. It's right next to the freeway, so finding it is easy but their parking lot is small. We arrived around 11 am, which is an hour after they open, and their lot was full. When that happens, you are redirected to the lot across the street and that's just a short walk. It can be inconvenient though if you are with multiple children. I was surprised at how big this place was. There is a downstairs and upstairs area, so we spent the entire day there. They had exhibits explaining some science and physics concepts in a fun way children can understand. What surprised me was the interactive grocery store that focused on teaching kids how to read nutrition labels and another area that explained recycling methods. I actually learned some things in that area about recycling hazardous household items. There is another area next to the gift shop downstairs where you can pet stingrays and small sharks. The upstairs area was my favorite! It's an ocean theme and had a bounce area for the kids. Outdoors is the Dino exhibit and their animatronics were such high-quality. There is a cut dig site where each child receives their own bucket to find fossils. They had a Scooby Doo pop up exhibit where you have to solve a mystery and there are clues throughout to help you. I got to make my own sandwich there, which was fun. I appreciated all the hand sanitizing and water filling stations to help keep our hands clean and our bodies hydrated. They do have a small cafe inside in case you get hungry. I had the tomato, pesto, mozzarella croissant sandwich, and it was actually quite good! It was toasted and had good flavor. I knocked it one star because we came across a few exhibits that didn't work or stopped working in the middle of us using it. Overall, it was such a fun experience with my family and my niece had a blast!

Up close and personal with these majestic creatures. We walked with them, made and fed them medicinal treats. Tuk Tuk tour - a VIP tour of the streets of Chang Mai. So fun and enjoyable. Hotels resorts - beautiful, elegant and top service including massages and buffet breakfasts. Food - Supera goes out of their way to handpick local specialties that most tourists don't know about. The food was unique and delicious. A real treat. Transportation - buses, longboats, flights - all handled for us, including all luggage transfers. Our tour guide Betty Tsai. What a pro! She's the perfect mix of organization and keeping it fun. Her attention to detail kept us moving smoothly through the trip. She even managed to work with the Mandarin Oriental to get me a personal item I accidentally left at the hotel after checkout. Ms A - so cute, with excellent knowledge of Thai culture and history.
