Great host, very interesting venues and stories. The perfect spot to walk around and see history that still exists.

We did the Kellog house tour and our tour guide was great. She was very knowledagable of the history of not just the house, but the surrounding city/cities as well. The length of the tour was well worth the money, I also know that some stories are passed down through history or just lore. We enjoyed our experience and how everyone got into character/dressed as the era. My next goal is to do the Disney mansion tour. See you soon read more

We enjoyed a spooktacular haunted ghost tour around the Old Town Orange area with Valerie from Haunted OC tours! It's really more than about ghosts and paranormal experiences. Though, Valerie certainly has done her research by sharing sightings based on interviewing the locals and from her own experiences. We learned a lot about the history of the area and the old buildings that make up the neighborhood. It was surprising to learn there were so many mortuaries in the several blocks around the circle! Along with sharing interesting history and paranormal activity at each place where she stopped, from her iPad she also shared old pictures of what the buildings, shops and people looked like in the old days. Those black and white photos did enhance the spooky creepiness of the stories she shared. There were about 25 of us in our group. Valerie maneuvered us so we didn't get lost or separated, and she made sure we didn't get in the way of non-tour group pedestrians. Her audio was loud enough for everyone to hear. She dressed the part of ghost tour leader, lacy black cape and all, and she made the walk fun with her added theatrics. I highly recommend this tour! read more

The bestie and I decided we wanted to see Black Star Canyon at night and the best way to do it is with a group. We set out with a decent size group and our tour guide in tow. He came dressed in character and lead our hike with amazing enthusiasm - he is infact an avid hiker and lives in the canyon itself. He was beyond knowledgeable about not only surviving off the land but about the history of these parts. Did I mention he hikes barefoot! There is a long history in Black Star which lends itself to the idea it's haunted. We didn't experience anything paranormal but then again, there is no way we'd do this hike alone at night, even as experienced hikers ourselves. It is dark and CREEPY.... Overall it was a great experience and we learned a lot along the way. It was especially fun listening to the mountain lions and other nocturnal critters in stereo as we journeyed through the canyon. We even got to pet a cute snake our group found on the trail. Looking forward to a much longer hike when it's offered to get out much deeper into the canyon. Tips: The entire evening is about three hours. The trail is not well lit and flashlights are discouraged so you can really adjust to the nighttime sites and sounds. I wouldn't recommend this for little ones - some dropoffs, snakes and an electrified fence out there. Dress warmly as the canyon gets cold at certain points and elevation changes. read more

My friend & I was super excited to go on this haunted Santa Ana Tour! Tickets were sold out but my friend called them to ask if they can squeeze two more people in & they let us! We just had to pay exact cash when we got there! When we arrived, we noticed they had spooky music playing at the Howe Waffle House. The house was well maintained and didn't seem scary at all. Our tour guide was excellent and took the time to make sure everyone can hear her tell the stories behind each building we went too! By the end of our tour, we got to go inside the Howe Waffle House in the dark! At this point I was freaking out since I don't like the dark however she finally turned on the lights and let us explore the house! It's really cool looking at everything! Highly suggest this tour but I can't wait to do the one in Orange! Remember you're walking around DTSA so wear comfy shoes!!! read more

Took my hubs on the San Juan Capistrano tour last weekend. Our guide was Allegra, and she was super. It was the perfect night...warm and a cool crescent moon. Allegra was full of stories about all of the old houses and buildings in SJC. I was worried that this would be scary. I'm not a fan of scary. My husband is! It wasn't scary. It was more informative. There were some kids in our group, but it was probably a little over their heads. The tour was exactly 90 minutes. Totally worth the price. read more

What a scam. Purchased four tickets for $100 for the haunted nite hike in Black Star Canyon. Misleading advertising! Boring. Crowded. . We hiked through ridiculous amounts of thick slippery mud Not at all what we expected. Just a messy hike with bits of history stories told. There were 30 people on our hike. Nothing haunted or spooky about it at all. A complete waste of money. You can hike this trail by yourself. The ad was misleading. This was a waste of time, gas and money. My girlfriend and I got tickets to attend the Olde town Orange Ghost tour and we had such a great time! We went on Saturday night and our tour guide was awesome and kept a pace and tone that everyone was able to enjoy. The stories behind all the buildings were spooky and the guide was able to answer all the questions people had about the history. We went on the Old Town Orange Ghost Walk, Valerie was our guide, and we had a fantastic time! We are locals and got to learn a lot about local haunted history. I recently took the San Juan Capistrano tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved learning about the macabre as well as historical side of places so local to me. Our tour guide, Allegra, was very knowledgeable about the area and her story telling ability kept my attention the whole time. My friends and I took the train which dropped us right at the tour meeting place and ate at one of the restaurants recommended by Allegra before the tour. It was a fun night. read more

I did the Santa Ana Ghost Walk on Halloween night and it was pretty fun. A lot of my friends chickened out and ended up not going but I think they balanced the perfect amount of scary with interesting/fun. We don't actually get to go inside the places with malevolent spirits so don't worry too much about being followed home. Our tour guide was an adorable old woman and she had so much fun talking about ghost stories that I'm pretty sure she would've taken us on the tour regardless of whether or not we paid her. She just loved it that much. The profit made from the tour goes towards maintaining the condition of the Howe Waffle Mansion. The people in this organization are really passionate about preserving Santa Ana's history so I definitely recommend going!! read more

Highlights: our tour guide was a native CA and a great story teller! Also, the town is beautiful to walk through on a nice night. I highly recommend the Orange County Ghost Walk tours My husband and I have taken the Capistrano and Old Town Orange tours this year and have enjoyed them both immensely. Ticket prices are very reasonable. The walking is not strenuous and the time goes by very quickly. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable about the areas. Don't expect to "see " anything paranormal. But do use your imagination as you listen to your guide weave historical tales about evidence of local residents who have yet to cross over. Allow yourself to be transported back in time to the romance and adventure of California's rancho days. Though years have changed the appearance of some homes and buildings you will gain a new perspective on these places and perhaps look twice when you catch a glimpse of something from the corner of your eye. read more

My friend and I took the Santa Ana walking tour. I was nervous because this was my first time doing a socially distanced group activity during COVID and I really wanted to enjoy this tour as I've heard great things about Haunted OC and they've always been incredibly kind when I've met people associated with the group at conventions, but I didn't feel 100% safe on the tour. I know it's a choice I made and a risk I took to go out on this, but it's also the company's responsibility to help us stay safe. We were continuously encouraged to gather closer (which I generally understand because our guide was hard to hear sometimes), and our group was also larger than the 20 person limitation which made it harder to social distance. We also had one or two people in our group that spent the entire tour pulling their masks down at stops to vape and they were never told to keep their masks on. The tour ended with the entire group being invited into the very small Waffle House parlor to watch a video. It became very crowded very quickly and without the AC on there was very little air flow, and it got to the point where my friend and I left immediately after they broke up the group to let us explore the house because we felt unsafe. If we had stood outside to talk about the house and how to support the historical society where we could try to distance ourselves it would have been different but we spent over 20 minutes crammed into that room together. Our tour guide had a problem keeping her mask on. It would continuously fall off her face while she was talking, to the point where we could frequently see her mouth, and it would take her ages to get it back on properly. When we were in the house there was a moment where she stopped to drink water and then it took her almost five minutes of trying to get it back on while she continued talking to us. My friend and I felt like she talked in circles, repeating information and occasionally negating things she had said at previous stops. I also felt like she could have been more respectful about certain subjects like post-mortem photography, as she ended talking about that subject stating that she wasn't going to move on with the tour until she had thoroughly grossed us out. I understand it's an uncomfortable subject, especially with how the death industry is handled today, and that this is a spooky tour so we /should/ feel uncomfortable, but this came off more as rude than historically creepy information, etc. She also frequently complained about how unnecessary the Mariachi music was when we passed Mexican restaurants but "it was okay to complain because she ate there." The tour overall ran an hour over the stated 90 minutes on their website. I may try another tour after COVID starts to clear up because as I mentioned, I've heard great things about their tours and some of their guides. Maybe we went on a bad night, or our guide was having an off day. I don't know, but I definitely would not recommend the Santa Ana tour at this time. read more

Just went on the black star canyon ghost walk and we really enjoyed it! Got to learn about the history of the canyon and hear scary stories with an awesome and knowledgeable guide with only the moonlight and light of his lantern. The walk was about 3 hours and maybe 3 miles round trip. Not very strenuous though, it was flat the whole way. It was spooky and we heard a few creepy sounds the night I went but that was it thank God or I would have had a heart attack lol. I heard that some really creepy things have happened with other groups though. Anyway, I would definitely recommend it for spooky fun :) read more

We did the San Juan Capistrano Ghost Tour with Charles and had a great time! Charles was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. Someone even asked a question about another building not on the tour and Charles not only knew the history of the building but told us a story about its former occupant. I wouldn't necessarily call this a "Ghost" tour but rather a historical tour. Charles definitely focuses on ghosts but you definitely get a history lesson from Charles who is actually a history teacher as well. Can't say enough good things about this tour and our guide, we even stayed around after the tour ended talking with Charles for another 20 minutes and he walked with us back to our car. We will definitely be doing some of the other tours offered and look forward to speaking with Charles again. Thank you Charles for a wonderful night. read more

I took the tour in downtown Santa Ana. Unfortunately, our tour guide seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else. Also, for some weird reason she decided to slander some religions while giving the tour. I can't even describe how unprofessional that is. A friend of mine took their tour also, a different day, and she said the same thing happened. I've been on many ghost tours and I would not recommend this one. I want to have a good time when I take these tours, not hear someone's personal prejudices. Other ghost tours that I have taken have been much more ghost oriented also, which I prefer, and usually the guides are in character, which I think is great. read more

In the spirit of Halloween, my boyfriend and I participated in the Santa Ana ghost walk. Our tour guide Tina was a wonderful storyteller and provided lots of fascinating (and at times disturbing) historical information on many of the old landmarks. The tour itself was more eerie than scary. We didn't see anything, but several of the stories stuck with me after the tour, to the point where I woke up in the middle of the night feeling spooked. I'll never be able to look at some of the buildings the same way again! We happened to book our tour on the first Saturday of the month, coinciding with the monthly DTSA Art Walk. While it added to the excitement and festivities, there was also a lot of noise and traffic. Unfortunately at one of the stops (the most interesting one, in my opinion), the restaurant next door was blasting music so loud that we couldn't hear Tina, even with her mic on. In those instances, my suggestion to the company and tour guides is to show the group the specific location, then move to a quieter spot before resuming the narration. Overall it was a fun experience and we learned many interesting facts about an area we frequent so often. read more

I've had a handful of experiences with Haunted OC by now, and they've all been great. The evening ghost tours are fun and personal - they routinely offer two regular tours (the Santa Ana, and the Orange). The guides tend to be knowledgable as well as funny - history buffs that double as entertainers. :) I think their forté lies in their special events though. I had the pleasure of being part of their first "Waffle House" overnight event, and it was truly awesome. It was a paranormal investigation/movie night/history lesson/ sleep-over all mixed into one...with the cherry-on-top being the waffles and mimosas served for breakfast ^^ I'm hoping to be able to join at least one of their upcoming, "Face Your Fears," events - from what I've heard, their events are only getting better, and definitely a lot scarier. This review is for the Santa Ana Ghost Walk we attended on Saturday 10/11/14: For our first time attending this Event, we enjoyed ourselves from the moment we parked, easy access and plenty of free parking on-site at the Howe-Waffle Mansion in downtown Santa Ana, to the end of the tour, which ended with a rare walk-through of the 2nd floor of the Mansion. In my opinion, the 2nd floor should definitely be a permanent part of the tour, but from what I remember the Tour Guide mentioned they do not always do that. Even if the 2nd floor is not always a part of this tour, just stepping foot inside this Mansion gives you a distinct feeling of almost traveling back in time to a different era, and that alone makes the Ghost Walk worth experiencing. Without giving too much information away, the Ghost Walk starts right outside the Howe-Waffle Mansion then proceeds on foot to several different stops in downtown Santa Ana. It's an easy walk and the 90-minute allotted time was perfect, although the tour ran a bit over on time, but no one complained as everyone was engaged in the stories the Tour Guide was giving. The last part of the tour is the best part, which ends inside the Howe-Waffle Mansion. The Tour Guide shared paranormal evidence captured at the Mansion and a TV segment of Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures" in which the Mansion was investigated. As someone who's born & raised in Santa Ana, it was fascinating to hear stories of historical events that have taken place in the city I've lived in my whole life. Also knowing there is an organization that preserves this historic location is awesome! One suggestion is going to this Ghost Walk with a group of family & friends, which made it even more fun. I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars rating because the Tour Guide was hard to hear at certain points due to traffic and noise from the surrounding area. The Tour Guide has a microphone that helps but she could do a better job of stepping away further from the traffic so we can hear the stories, even if it means stepping further away from the exact spots the Ghost Walk usually stops at. Besides that the Tour Guide did an incredible job of describing the historical facts of paranormal stories. I would recommend this Ghost Walk to all local and surrounding residents and anyone interested in history of Orange County and paranormal stories. Especially any skeptics of the spiritual world we live in, this is a perfect, inexpensive and local opportunity to put your beliefs to the test, as there have been some reports of people experiencing strange things during some of Haunted OC's past events. I can't say we saw or heard anything paranormal, but we felt a certain energy inside the Howe-Waffle Mansion. Last night my friends and I did the Black Star Canyon tour and WOW!!! I learned so much about OC and the history. It was a bit creepy at times but nothing to where I had to sleep with the lights on! The weather was nice; not too cold. I suggest going in the summer as the tour starts at 7pm and ends around 10. Bring your water! Can't wait to get another tour! read more
