One star is generous. I ordered a voucher from this company for one hour of moving services, because I had a freight delivery coming to my house, and I needed their movers to move it from my curb to my front door. The delivery was one palette of material, but it was a little too heavy for me to lift by myself. The coupon was for an hour of services, and this is a job that would have taken probably fifteen minutes.
When I called them the first time, which was last Tuesday, they were free all week, so I scheduled the delivery for Wednesday between 4pm and 6pm. The movers said they could be there between 5 and 6, and they understood that they were working within the second half of a freight delivery window of two hours, so it might involve waiting a minute or two. As it turned out, I had to be called away that afternoon on unexpected business, so I actually hired someone at the very last minute, at more than the cost of the voucher, to sit at my house and wait for the delivery, which is now money lost.
At around 3pm that first day, the freight company called to tell me that they might have to cancel the delivery for that day because their truck had broken an axle, and asked if they could reschedule the delivery for the following day. I called Haul-My-Mess to see if I could reschedule for the next day, and they said no, that at this point, they only had availability on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of the following week. So, I called the freight company right back to tell them that I'd have to reschedule for the following week. They told me that they'd been trying to call (I was on the other line with the movers) because they had another truck and could do the delivery as planned after all. This all happened within the space of 10 minutes, the calls were literally back to back. So, I called the movers right back and told them that the delivery was still on. They told me no. They told me that they'd already sent their guys home, and that there wasn't any way of getting them back, but said he would try to replace their guy.
When I called back to see if they found someone else, he said that they hadn't, (don't think he tried) and I would have to cancel the delivery and reschedule next week. They repeated that they were available during the same time frames next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, so I told the guy that I'd cancel and reschedule the freight delivery for the following Tuesday according to their availability and call him right back to confirm. He said he'd be there. When I called him right back to confirm, within minutes, it went to voice mail, so I left a detailed message scheduling the delivery for the following Tuesday, same time frame, as per his indication of his crew's availability.
On the following Tuesday, I called to confirm, and I was told that they had not even put me on the schedule, and I was $* out of luck. I reminded him that he'd all but scheduled Tuesday with me last week, and that I'd left a message to confirm, and he finally said, okay, we can work it out if it's between 5 and 6 - which is exactly the time frame that we'd agreed upon in the first place. So, Tuesday afternoon comes along, and he calls me at 4:30 to confirm the delivery time, and I tell him that I was just about to call the freight company to confirm that the delivery was on its way. I called the freight company, and learned that the driver was en route from Avon, that they'd had a couple of unexpected delays, and they were on their way with an ETA of 6pm. I asked them if they could hurry it up because I had some movers who were going off the clock at 6pm, and the freight guys said they would do their best to get there as soon as possible. I called Haul-My-Mess and gave them the situation, and he told me that's fine because his guys were still working at another job, and I should call him when the delivery arrives at my house, not before. He then told me that if it arrived after 5:30, they wouldn't come. I called the Freight company and confirmed that the delivery was on its way, and spoke to the driver as he was driving on the highway and explained the situation, and he drove over the speed limit to get there on the movers' demanding schedule. I called the movers at 5:40, who very well could have been at my house waiting with dollies ready, because I'd already paid them for the time, and the man from Haul-My-Mess basically told me to F* off, that he wasn't sending guys over to do the job, that he could reschedule it for first thing in the morning (meaning that I'd have to leave freight on my front lawn overnight), and that I forfeit my voucher because of their no-cancellation without 24 hours notice policy, that it was the second time I'd cancelled. I told him I wasn't cancelling, that I hadn't cancelled last week either, he just didn't bother to show up, that I was asking them to do the job I'd paid for and scheduled last week. He started yelling at me until I hung up. read more
