I honestly feel a bit like a fraud writing this review because while I did come here as part of the UYE Tamale Tour organized by Yelper Kristina M., I didn't actually eat anything from here because all they sell is an all-beef Tamale and I generally avoid eating that specific protein type. However I can report that there were a lot of satisfying sounds from the rest of the group and the food was scarfed down very quickly. There are no picnic benches or places to sit down and eat, so it's definitely a takeaway shop. The location is also fairly dodgy - there's a burnt down and crumbling church across the seat and this neighborhood has definitely seen better days. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and friendly. And that's it for this review folks! Yelp Review: 22/2017

Where's the tamale? Just meat and batter.

This is meat wrapped in paper. Tamales have a soft corn breading. This was just meat wrapped in paper.

However, if you like spicy food then just get the "Hot" variety and you won't even think about needing hot sauce.

I'm sure had adjustments to the rent and policies. So they're primarily food truck and catering company now. The food is perfectly cooked and plentiful, and the price is definitely right. So it's worth hunting them down. You can also text or email him.And he is good about returning messages within minutes of their location. Noteworthy,, they are not always available as they once were because there catering is really picking up - and that makes them unavailable to the general public. Chicken shrimp pork tofu steak are available as skewers buttered Ethiopian style with large side orders of sauteed vegetables or lentil stew and buttered rice. You will slap your mama, it's that good. I was going to take off a star off just because you can't ever find them when you really really want to but I am so happy that they are doing well

I had them booked for several months and I stayed in regular contact. On Thursday before the Sunday event at our church, I reached out to discuss our rainy day plan (since it was forecast to rain), they said "I think it's best to cancel if it rains. We never had a good experience in the past." **Note, the word IF.** I replied back that we could have people eat indoors and that we had an awning they could park under right by the doors. Regardless of rain, people would still stay to eat. No response. On Saturday, I texted to let them know that if it was light rain the next day, we planned to go ahead with the event but if it was storming, we'd cancel. Either way, I'd message them by 8 am the next day because they were scheduled to arrive by 10:30 am. No response. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. On Sunday morning, I texted to them know the forecast didn't show rain until later in the afternoon and would they please let me know if they were coming? No response. I called and texted several times. No answer, no response. I was finally forced to order pizza for about 100 people so we would just have enough food to feed everyone. I don't know how they stay in business with service like that!!

I got the lobster mac and cheese sandwich which was phenomenal. It was packed full so much that when you took a bite it would fall out (good thing in my book). The price was super fair in my opinion. I recently judged the Best Memphis Burger competition and sadly to say this burger was NOT in it. I think this burger goes toe toe with the grand champion Elboe burger! After a brief conversation with Jared (owner ) about the event he told me that someone else that judged the competition said that he actually had the best burger in Memphis so I had to see for myself.... This amazing thick juicy double patty burger with Gourmade aioli sauce, white cheddar cheese, a peppered green, butterd pickles and pickled red onion (which I admittedly took off because onions make me gag) sorry if that was tmi. But this burger was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was just outstanding with flavor and the brioche bun that was soft but yet firm enough to hold everything together. If you don't know I have a local food review show called Dine01 and we will definitely be doing a more in depth and behind the scenes. Just YouTube us or type dine01 on any social media. I hope this helps!
