This morning, we followed the instructions to the meeting coordinates and linked up with our guide, Danny. From the first few minutes of meeting him, we knew we were going to have an incredible experience. Danny was genuinely one of the kindest, warmest, most welcoming, and humble guides we have ever met. Nothing about the experience felt rushed, scripted, or overly commercialized. It felt like we were spending the morning exploring Lake Powell with someone who genuinely loves this place and wants you to understand why it is so special. Before we even got underway, Danny made sure we were comfortable on the boat, helped us get situated, and took the time to get to know us. As we started talking, we learned that he has been doing this for around 50 years, grew up in Page, owns a home here, and has an incredible amount of firsthand knowledge about Lake Powell and the surrounding area. One thing that especially stood out to us was hearing about his business and his guides. Danny explained that his guides are locals rather than simply contracted seasonal help brought in from somewhere else. He spoke about them almost like family, and you can tell that he takes tremendous pride in the people representing his business. That personal connection makes a HUGE difference in an experience like this. Once we headed out from the marina, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Danny took us deep through Lake Powell, eventually reaching an area where the water became shallower and the canyon continued to narrow. Seeing the enormous canyon walls gradually close in around us was incredible. It gave us a completely different perspective of Lake Powell than we ever could have gotten from simply looking at it from shore. We then backtracked and made our way toward the Glen Canyon Dam, where Danny explained its history, its relationship with Lake Powell, and just how important the lake and dam have been to Page and the surrounding area's economy and development. But my FAVORITE part of the entire excursion was Danny's ability to turn the trip into so much more than a sightseeing tour. Throughout the morning, he would slow down or stop the boat and point out different rock formations, geological features, landmarks, and details that we otherwise would have gone right past. He didn't just tell us what we were looking at -- he explained the history and geology behind it. His passion for teaching comes through completely naturally. You can tell this isn't simply a job to him. He genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge and watching people experience Lake Powell. That combination of local knowledge, history, geology, storytelling, and genuine hospitality made this experience exceptional. My wife and I cannot recommend Danny highly enough. If you're visiting Page or Lake Powell and want more than just a boat ride, this is the type of experience you want. Having someone who has spent decades here personally show you the lake completely changes the experience. One particularly memorable moment was when he brought out a flute-like instrument and played for us. It was such a thoughtful, unexpected touch that added something magical to kayaking through the canyon. What stood out most was how much heart he put into the experience. A lot of beauty to admire at the canyon, and really nice stories to be heard and shared. The tour guide did state multiple times that we can take our time. He also created a demo micro slot canyon before our eyes. All the drivers were very nice. Here are some things to note though: -The check in process was confusing the day we went. We kept getting asked if we checked in. Initially we weren't greeted by anyone. Then a very pretty lady helped get us started with signing a paper waiver. -In my opinion, we actually had a large group, a bit over 20 people if I recall correctly. However, it wasn't overwhelming. -We separated into taking a wagon and small bus to the slot canyon. There were two different groups. Getting back to the destination spot was split into a bus, an older suburban, and a UTV. Not sure if the wagon ever came back. -We were the last tour group of the day. -They have portable potties near parking grounds, but is about a 8-20 min transportation dependent on type of vehicle and how fast you are from the slot canyon. -Definitely don't want someone who has mobility issues or have discomfort while walking coming to this trip! -No videos

Steph, our tour guide was great, she text us the night before to answer any of our questions and give us the rundown. When we met her the next day, she was friendly and outgoing and energetic. We were in a group of 8, four pairs of two. During the paddle talk, the approaching storm was getting more ominous. The wind gusts were much more than expected and the temperature plummeted. Paddle Express asked us how we were feeling about paddling in this weather and they offered no pressure for us to continue. They allowed us to decide independently of the others in our group if we wanted to continue. 6 out of 8 backed out and they didn't force the last two to cancel which I thought was very professional. We were able to receive a full refund and I would most definitely book with them again. They offered us dry bags, nice life vests, newer paddles and their kayaks were clean (even though I didn't get to actually use one). I like that they take care of their equipment and don't use run down ratty worn out gear. I would definitely recommend Paddle Express to anyone and I'm looking forward to using them on my next trip out here.

Tony gave us our safety briefing and recommended gaiters in case we experienced dust. He had a great sense of humor and really made sure everyone was taken care of. James was our guide and he was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and took us to many look out points that were absolutely breathtaking. My mother lost her phone along the trip and he took us back to search for it. We were not able to find it in the dark but we thanked him for his efforts. He informed his team of the missing phone and the very next day we received a call stating they found it! Tony stated the phone was partially buried in the sand and he noticed the Bible verse on the back "Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Tony said he brought it back, cooled it off to save it from over heating. There was not a single scratch or damage to the phone. (Synchronicity and serendipity) The entire team was amazing and truly gave us a wonderful experience. They treated us like family and we will definitely come back! Once you dock, there's about a 1-mile hike that leads you to some of the most beautiful photo spots. After taking it all in, you hike back, hop on your kayak, and paddle back to where you started. The whole adventure is the perfect mix of activity and scenery--kayaking plus hiking all in one. It's peaceful, a little challenging in the best way, and absolutely worth it. Of course it was all too many choices so I didn't book ahead and decided to see it before I book. We headed directly to the marina and saw KLP's van parked in the parking lot. We chatted with the tour guide and he was nice and informative about how to get the rental etc. We decided to go with them and called their company directly on phone and paid by credit card. It was quick and easy and we headed down to the loading ramp to pick up our kayak. Getting the kayak down to the water takes a lot of strength. We didn't join the tour because we wanted to take our own time. We saw that they moved the kayaks for the tour members. Getting the kayak back to the shore was the hard part because you need to pick it up and hike up the sandy ramp. It's not for the weak!! Anyway the entire adventure was well worth it because we had the entire day for the rental, the waters were a bit rough going back in the afternoon but the morning trip was quite relaxing. The waters in the canyon was calm and smooth, the hike was amazing and it surely has become our favorite in Page. All the people we met working with the company were great and super friendly! My only complain would be they should warn us about the steep sandy ramp. Nevertheless they totally worth the 5 stars.
