Missi's Sip & Savor at The Confluence Hotel - Peanut butter cheesecake

Missi's Sip & Savor at The Confluence Hotel

Ambiance and Experience: I'm glad they turn this beautiful historic building into a cool place to…read morehang out in near downtown Hastings. Restaurant and bar area are pretty large and can see quite a bit of people and when it is warmer out there is a huge patio that overlooks the Mississippi River. Great date night spot. Rustic, modern, and charming throughout the space. Very thoughtfully repurposed. Drinks: We tried the Hastings 14 and the Gold Dandy. My wife especially like the Hastings 14 and it was mixed with edible glitter which heightened the drinks look and experience. Very interesting drink. My Gold Dandy was a refreshing whiskey-forward sipper. Food: I had a burger and my wife had the shrimp. My burger was pretty good and was cooked to perfection, soft, juicy and pink in the middle. I enjoyed the rosemary fries, good savory flavor that balance the sweetness from the burger. My wife's shrimp were perfectly cooked and her brussel sprouts were tasty. Overall: A great date night location or a place for any occasion when you're looking for a drink and a bite to eat. If it is during the warmer months you will have a great experience on there vast riverfront patio. A great dining and drinking option to downtown Hasting's waterfront.

We asked to be seated near the window so we could see the river. I tried the Riverfront Sangria which I was very happy with. It was the perfect choice for our lunch. My friend chose the BYO mimosa. Build your own which provides you with a choice of two juices so you can mix and match or enjoy them separately with your prosecco. My friend had the Spiral Breakfast sandwich with bacon instead of ham, she was very pleased and it looked very filling! Came with some cheesy hashbrowns as well. I chose the harvest salad which was full of fall flavors like butternut squash, cranberry and pumpkin seeds. The dressing was a little heavy but otherwise I was extremely happy with my choice! It was a perfect portion size. This was a great end to our hike!

Perfect place with great restaurants/ cocktail bars and things to do. Not to mention the Rivertown Inn! It's been a few years since we've stayed here and we opted for the Oscar Wilde room. We will be back to stay here again! The others rooms we've stayed at in the past have also been beautiful, but this one takes the cake! Another perk to this place is the breakfast made by their phenomenal vegan chef. I don't eat pork and she whips up an awesome meal that makes me wish she could cook for me daily. I could easily be vegan with her help! The staff or caregivers that help us each time or super helpful and make our stay even better. Thanks again for another visit and we will be back!

Thank you for that! I wish I captured more photos of our stay and I have uploaded photos a in the past of our Agatha Christie, Doyle room and the home but pictures does NOT do it's justice! Love LOVE our stay here every time I!

The New Victorian Mansion Bed and Breakfast - September 2025 Dayton view

While the house itself was pretty, that was the only positive aspect of my stay. The rooms were…read moremuch smaller than they appeared online, and there were cobwebs in several areas of the home. Overall, the experience was not worth the $250 per night price. Breakfast was served at 9:00 AM, and when I arrived, there was only a single plate of food prepared specifically for me. It appeared to have already been made and needed to be reheated. There were no additional options available, such as fruit, muffins, or other choices. I was not informed in advance that 9:00 AM was the only time breakfast would be served or that there would be no alternatives. For the price, this location did not meet expectations. I would not return and would not recommend it to others. You can spend your money elsewhere and have a much better experience.

Lovely! I booked the Dayton Room in the penthouse for the night before my wedding. It was a last…read moreminute purchase and I was very pleased with the results. I didn't want a generic hotel room so the New Victorian Mansion allowed me to have comfort as if I was in my own home. Some of my favorite highlights include: wrap around front porch, view of the Cathedral, large bathroom with a nautical theme, breakfast in the dining room and overall peacefulness and serenity of the space. Upon arrival, there is a free parking lot wrapped around the building and a main entry (you'll ring the doorbell) to get access to your room key pad number and front door code. Depending on what wing and room you stay in, you will travel either inside or out and have the option for both if you stay in the penthouse. The mansion is separated by two sections and anyone staying in the penthouse is on an opposite wing of the building. There is no elevator in the penthouse and it's clearly advertised online so you'll know what to expect in advance without any surprises. The penthouse is technically meant for large group gatherings as there is only shared 1 bathroom. Contrary, I saw others in the penthouse when I was there and we never overlapped on bathroom use. I enjoy the New Victorian because you can customize how you want to stay whether that is luxurious or a more modern dorm style. No matter what you choose, the common shared spaces in each wing are adorable being it's all a mansion. Even the penthouse kitchen was just enough with every accommodation possible: Nespresso machine, coffee cups, wine glasses, blender, fridge, pots, pans, etc. While I only stayed one night and had to depart early, I couldn't fully enjoy the breakfast as I was in rush mode to get married. Contrary, the staff accommodated a slightly early meal for me which was very thoughtful. Rating this a 4 as there is some generic wear and tear, missing paint, carpet stains, and cleaning supplies and cords in the open spaces. With some paint, hiding of tools, carpet stain remover, small porch sweeping with added flowers, this would get a 5 star. My understanding is that there are new owners so perhaps repairs are all in the works after being handed off? Don't be fooled: the place is clean but it looks more dirty due to the slight repairs that need to be done to keep the upscale vibe going.
