I didn't know about Hashimoto Persimmon Farm until I saw my friend like a business on Facebook and it was Hashimoto Persimmons Farm, curious on location, I clicked on the business page to find out more info., After checking FB page, I searched Yelp's business page, and surprised to see only one review. After reading Jo Y.'s review. I asked my other half if he could take me to Maui and to persimmon farm. I was super happy that he said YES. That was during mid September, when persimmons are not in season yet. I kept checking weekly to see when they will be opened for 2017 season. When I booked my Maui ticket, I somehow made a mistake and booked my tickets for the ending of September, It was suppose to be the first of October, that would guarantee the farm will open. I got super great news when I found out that the farm's first day was October 1st. During that week I called and spoke to a very nice lady, Jacky. When I spoke to her on the phone, I had many questions and she patiently answered them all. I also reserved a box of 8lb persimmons. My love for Persimmons started when I visited my uncle in Rosemead California, He had a persimmons tree in his back yard, every visit, I would head straight to his yard to check on the tree. This is when I also tried persimmons for the first time and fell in love with them. LOCATION: Hashimoto Persimmon Farms is located at 1378 Pulehuiki Road Kula Maui, It is really easy to get to, road is not curvy as I imagined it being since I read it was near Haleakala. I was worried about that prior to my Maui trip. The roads are paved and very safe to drive. GPS directions will lead you to the farm just fine. Note. most of the farms are near here, so best if you make it a farm day. ( Kula Country Farms, Lavender Farm, 3rd World Nursery) PERSIMMONS: MARU Persimmon is picked astringent and is cured for 24 hours in dry ice to remove the bitterness and allow for natural sugar to be released. Although is has a yellowish/greenish look, it can be eaten as soon as it is picked up and it is generally sweeter than other varieties. FUYU Persimmon is signature deep orange color and is most common in many stores HACHIYA Persimmon is pointed and when picked is bitter, this fruit must be soft before being eaten. MY EXPERIENCE: I was so happy when I arrived at the farm, I was even more happy when I saw all the persimmon trees. Make sure you take lots of pictures. I walked around the front of farm, took my tons of photo, explored, and finally met Jacky. I picked up my box of persimmon and wanted to buy some more but they were sold out for the day. My husband was expecting a tour of the farm and he thought that, we could pick our own persimmon and pay for them. TIPS: Persimmon season runs from October - late November. Best is to call ahead to reserve and place your orders. They do sell out everyday. Check their FB page for daily info., ex. types of persimmons are available. PRICES: 8 lb box of persimmons 25.00 ( Maru, Fuyu, or Hachiya) 5 lb box of persimmons 18.00 Off Grade Persimmons 2.00 lb., first come first serve until gone ( Maru or Fuyu) Also available is dried persimmons at 10.00 a package. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and time at Hashimoto Persimmon Farm, a big Mahalo to my other half for taking me here and making it possible. I totally recommend and encourage you to visit Hashimoto Persimmons Farm. One last note: If you are curious on how their persimmon taste or can't get to Maui for their season, Hashimoto's Persimmons are available on Oahu, at Made in Hawaii booth at the Kapiolani Community College Farmer's Market every Saturday throughout the season. #108/100/2017

I've been going to this place every year for the past 10 years now. The people there are so nice. They give extra. They also take credit cards now for form of payments and that is a good thing for me since I k my use my American Express delta card. This year I wasn't able to to purchase any of their dried and jams and jelly persimmons since they've ran out fast. I can't wait for the next persimmons season.

This is my favorite place of all in Kula! Not only are the persimmons delicious but the owners family are true ALOHA SPIRIT!! Look up the story of how their ancestors started this farm. It's truly humbling! Fourth generation is still working hard climbing hills to hand pick this delicious fruit that we enjoy. Much Aloha to the Hashimoto Ohana!!

What's not to like !! I I should up this to 5 * but its not as modern as I would expect & I feel others would ding it also for the primitive vibe. If you've been to Thailand, you will get it. Some might not buy anything cuz it's all outdoors & very unlike a whole foods.... There's a purple food truck at the entrance. A friendly & tame brown goat follows you around. There are the typical shrines with elephants & a lot of plots, dirt mounds, piles of vegetation. You put your hillocks of picks into a basket. The owner calculates everything by hand. No credit card machine but we joked that she should take bitcoin. What'd I buy?...A bit of everything like carrots, japanese white yams, golden potatoes, tomatoes, mini bananas, scallions, lilikoi, oranges, iimes, lemons, and flowers for the suite. We talked to all the other locals that bought lots of other items like the pineapples, greens, jalapenos, broccoli etc. They all lived close by while we came from Lahaina, about an hour away for this adventure of a farmers market. A nice drive of Maui Hawaaian splendor was well worth it to procure all these earthly bounties! I cooked the sweet carrots & potatoes, washed the tomatoes & fruit to be ready for endless beach day (s)!! Everything was fresh, tasty & delicious. That's the best if you can get a panopoly of fresh tasty local fare. Scooping out the seeds of lilikoi right now.... Simple yum.

This Alii Kula Lavender farm is located in Kula approximately 25 mins from the airport. This farm is not only strictly Lavender they have all kinds of pretty flowers and trees . Inside their Gift shop they also have a small cafe that they sell coffee, teas, scones, muffins and cheesecake. Normally I'm not a cheesecake person but this cheesecake also had a hint of lavender taste it was very good . The only downside to this review is that they only have porta potty . We had visited before in 2012 during lavender season, which was lovely, but coming in mid-January there really wasn't much to see. Admission is $5 per person, and there's a café and gift shop on-site for souvenirs. During our previous visit, we really enjoyed the lavender scone and iced tea from the café. The views at the top are still beautiful, but I'd honestly recommend visiting only when lavender is in season to make it worthwhile. Also worth noting: it's quite windy in this part of Maui, and the terrain is very steep, so walking around can be a bit challenging.

I took my parents for their 44th Anniversary and we all love outdoorsy activities so I knew we'd all enjoy this! We were asked to arrive at 10:30 am for the tour and it lasted until 1-1:30 pm. Arrive with good walking shoes, SPF, light sweater and hat (it can get either a little chilly or hot from the direct sunlight), and well hydrated if possible. We were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tourguide, Kate from Maryland! She shared with us so many facts about the locally grown produce from herbs, vegetables, fruits, to the friendly worms, to compost and facts about the Farm and the hardworking staff! It was interactive because we got to sniff the herbs, taste the locally grown lettuce, carry a chicken (as seen in the photo with my mom), and even pick the Cherry coffee! After the 2 hour tour, the last hour takes you back to this beautiful seating area in a garden like setting for your 4 course lunch! Each course, the chef comes out and shares details of each course. First course was a Medley of Greens grown on the farm with Tangerine vinaigrette. It was a generous portion for our party of 3 and tried to eat it throughout. There was spiraled carrots and radish with julienned snap peas. Second course was Pan Seared Ono (their proteins are all locally sourced) with Mamaki Tea and Lemongrass Rice with Bok Choy, Collared Greens and Cabbage. Third course was my favorite! I'm usually a big fan of fish but the chicken was so savory and that rub was delish! It was an Organic, Cage Free Chicken with Coffee Cherry Citrus rub with Caramelized Coffee Honey Hash of Carrots, Parsnips, Rutabaga and Celery Root. The spread was a Turmeric and Parsnip puree. Last course of dessert was the O'o Freshly Brewed Coffee with Milk and Simple Syrup with a Dessert Platter of Fresh sliced Pineapple, Tangerine and Apple with Homemade Chocolate Truffles. The meal left us full and nourished! What a wonderful anniversary gift to give my parents. We truly enjoyed it and even made some new friends, both local and visiting.
