I went to Hash for my Mums birthday breakfast with my sister and my nephew on Saturday morning. We got there at 11 but service was slow, it really wasn't busy and there was a lot of staff. We ordered drinks and waited about 10 minutes for them to arrive which is a lot for a latte and a pot of tea. The staff were talking at the bar about how hungover they were from a party the night before, this would have bothered me at all if the service had been good. My sister and I both ordered scrambled eggs on brown and my mum had a sausage sandwich. It was tasty, nothing mind blowing but it was good. We weren't offered sauces or any more drinks which was a bit frustrating. Another negative for me was that a couple came in at about 11.35 and they wanted breakfast but the staff informed them they stop breakfast at 11.30. I would of understood if they were rushed off there feet but I think they could of whipped together some eggs for them. My review probably makes this place sounds worse than it is, overall I do like this it but I felt the service let them down on this occasion. Hash is a great place to eat and drink. In the daytime it is a hotspot for friends, shoppers and families and serves a wide selection of sandiwches, light bites and hot dishes. In the evening the bar is always bustling and has a really good atmosphere. read more

This bar is one of the more classy bars in Darlington, but it is by no means pretentious. On an evening its a great place to go to if you're looking to sit down and chat over a drink or two - possibly to begin your night, before heading onto the more chaotic bars, as this is not a place that blasts out music. During the day it makes as a great coffee shop where you can grab a nice freshly made panini or wrap, and because it is situated in the nice 'imperial end' of town, its great for avoiding the undesireables that may be found in Escapades - you know what I mean if youre from Darlington. read more

I love this place, the food's fantastic and on a night it's a good chic place to drink. The crowd tends to be the better half of darlington. The staff are friendly, bar one rude female and they're efficient. This is one of my favourite places to eat and drink. It's great for a shoppers lunch and fab for a conservative night out. I sometimes go here although Number 22 is my very favourite. Hash is a lovely bar althought the beer selection is limited. The food is excellent and good value. There is a good selection on the menu. Children are made very welcome during the day-I know several young parents who take their children here to eat at lunchtime. the staff are efficient and friendly. Quite like this bar, the drink selection is not the best but your sure to find something you will like. Its near to number 22 in conscliffe road so you tend to get a decent clientle around this area. The bar is simple yet decorated very chic. It gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday night. Though I do feel that If you have gone out late saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks in here and still out when poeple are starting their night out, some tend to look down at you because your not wearing the correct labels. Burgers are really good, well cooked but maybe a bit rare for some, chip portions are huge, overall well worth the money.

Really nice bar great staff and great atmosphere on an evening especially with the open roof terrace, went here for some lunch recently and the food had the fish finger sandwich which I had heard only good things about but it wasn't up to scratch, very well presented but fries and fish were over cooked (burnt) and greasy it was like they had just been re-fried from cold and I really don't care how it looks it's all about the taste. read more

Compared to other similar establishments in Darlington this place is worth a visit for a night out or a bite to eat at lunch time. The food is decent but certainly not fantastic. The place is a little on the narrow side although the decor has been thought out to compensate this. My last review wasn't published, yet contained nothing obscene , maybe because it was negative?! The staff ARE pretentious + extremely rude. Went in today with my brother for a coffee , suffice to say we won't be returning. The staff were so arrogant + rude, for no reason other than my brother mentioned his latte looked different to how he's been having it in there for many years. What on earth happened to customer service + manners ??!!! They love themselves too much, no respect for customers. Thought I suspect if you're in your 20s + attractive you'll go down a treat. Just got back from Spain I paid €3 for a pint of Mahou lager . Thought I would pop into Darlington as it was a nice day , Hash has a nice roof top garden . Never have I seen such an appalling baby change / disabled loo - it was full of beer barrels, boxes and high chairs, completely filthy, only one light of four worked so no idea if I got my baby clean or not, no soap in the dispenser and no clinical waste bin for nappies. When I asked to speak to the owner he said "is it the dirt?!". Safe to say I'm never going there again, if that is what you think of babies and disabled customers, I have to ask, what is your kitchen like?! read more
