It has been refurbished (I am led to believe it has had a £250,000 facelift ) and it looks very different to what it did. The bar area has been moved to the back of the pub - though I do think it is a small. Theres bright flock wall paper and painted walls, a few tables and leather seats against the wall. I dont smoke but they seems to be a good area at the back for smokers too. I would never of gone in here in the old days, but now I dont mind popping in for a drink. Its a good place to start the night off and the door staff are friendly.

I admit that this place will not to be some peoples taste but If you appreciate fine ale or wines then you should give the place a try. The average age of the clientele maybe around 50 but I've never felt out of place and am always afforded friendly service. Also the food here is usually very nice. The traditional beef sandwich and chips is delicious. The only reason I do not give 5 stars is that on Friday and Saturday evening the place is packed like a sardine tin and can attract a few pretentious idiots that seem to have given the place a bit of a reputation. For this reason I only use 22s as my mid-week haunt.

There are always door staff on over a weekend and I haven't seen or heard about any trouble here for some time. There are some tables and chairs but you might struggle on a Friday or Saturday night. If you were driving down to the Green Dragon you would be fine on an evening to grab a spot on Skinnergate but during the day you will need to pay for a town centre car park.
