Need a space for a classy party that's unique and lined with history? This is your spot. Colin and I had the honor of attending a lovely couple's wedding reception here a couple weeks ago and I immediately felt like I walked into a song about love's music video. The landscaping all around the venue is supremely kept up and mesmerizingly beautiful with all of the big trees, sculptures, flowers, etc. That along with the architecture sure makes this spots a stunning head-turner. Inside is a perfect cross between a mansion party and museum. There are several rooms you can explore with nooks and crannies of the history of the Harweldons. There is a space for a bar, room for buffet-style meals, and an excellent room for dancing. The 'backyard' is beautifully lit and has space for table seating with cozy space heaters around. The Arts and Humanities Council meets here... and that is a large selling point for me to try to get on that council. This space is special and inspiring!

Beautiful house that I would love to be my home. It reminds me of my childhood school. I have been there just to look at the house, they have been very nice and allowed me access to the house. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. My name needed to have been Donna Harwelden.....house where Donna lived

Do you still offer a high tea experience?

Hello! At this time, Harwelden does not offer "high tea" or "afternoon tea"; however, we do offer mansion tours and the space can be rented for Tea and other experiences coupled with a local catering company.

When is your afternoon tea in August 2023?

We don’t have an August tea scheduled. Our next two afternoon teas are 7/18 and 9/5. We would love to have you.

A nice employee named Hayley (sp) was there during our stay and she was very helpful. We checked in earlier than we planned to due to arriving in Tulsa earlier than expected from OKC. She was apologetic about not having a cheese plate or fudge ready. I didn't even know these things existed with the room, so apology accepted! Haha. She took us on a tour of the inn and did a great job of both detailing the history/current status and the amenities we had access to. Not too much later, she brought us the aforementioned cheese and fudge. Score! She also took care to note food allergies since they serve breakfast. I have none but my boyfriend is allergic to the Earth, so that's nice. We stayed in the Sage while we were there (Thursday night and Friday night, so two different prices). It's the only room that's not directly inside of the inn, so that was neat. It almost felt like a little cabin! It's attached but the entrance to it is outside while the other rooms are inside. It's a nice simple room. The bed is comfortable but I wouldn't rave about it. The only small downside is that this room doesn't have its own thermostat because it shares one with the Willow, the room it's attached to. Hayley set it for us to a very cool temp since it was hot out. It kept the room very cold. But we were also out adventuring most of the time. If we weren't, then we would just burrow under the blankets in bed. So no big deal, but I'm sure there are more picky people out there. Every morning, breakfast is served in the dining room at 9am. It feels a little awkward almost since the inn is so small and the breakfast is guests only. They're cooking just for you! The first morning, it was only us there. There was fruit, pancakes, and a plate of bacon/sausage/eggs. It was good stuff. Oddly good bacon. Second morning there was fruit, waffles, and breakfast potatoes/fritatas/bacon. The second was definitely the best. My boyfriend hates eggs; they did something to his family, I think. So they double downed on his bacon. Lucky dog. But the fritatas were great, so his loss. Random notes: - The TVs have a lot of channels but the TVs are tiny; maybe that's a hint to spend time with your travel partner. - ^ Speaking of which, the second floor has a drawer of toiletries that includes toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner/soap, deodorant, and *ahem* condoms ~an assortment~. Some other stuff, too. - The gated exit you use during the day is closed at some point in the evening. You'll drive out the entrance and return through the entrance using the code on your room key during later outings.

So…read moreas a treat I surprised her with a night at the McBirney after the hustle and bustle of Christmas. You can check in at 3 and we were there shortly after that. We were promptly greeted by a staff member who checked us in and issued us keys to our room and the mansion itself. The mansion was as nice as we remembered, some of the rooms had been remodeled but they still maintained the charm of the place. We stayed in the "Room with a View" and it was very nice. It had a king size bed and a nice tub made for two. If you decide to use the shower be careful I flooded the bathroom before I realized it. The way the tub was installed if the shower water hits a wall it runs around the tub edge and runs out on the floor. They had a large tray of cookies in the hall with coffee, tea, and bottled water. I took one bite from the cookie and threw it out, it was burned on the bottom. The next morning breakfast is only served from 8-9, we had a choice of french toast or scrambled eggs for the breakfast. My wife and I both chose the eggs. They were just two scrambled eggs served with bacon, and a piece of toast. It was just what is sounded like eggs and bacon nothing special about them. We did have a carafe of orange juice that gave each of us about a glass and a half but they never offered to refill it for us. Their website advertises an evening social time with appetizers and refreshments, when I asked about it I was told they weren't doing them anymore. The only reason I gave the place 3 stars is because of how nice and relaxing the rooms are. The staff was nice but I wouldn't have called them friendly and I don't feel like I was being treated as a special guest. I have had better staff treatment at the Holiday Inns I stay in while traveling for work. We enjoyed our evening together but it really wasn't because of the bed and breakfast. i don't think we will be returning to the McBirney.

All I can say is that you pay Cadillac prices, but are given a Yugo. I could have taken my 56 dinner guests to Flemings, had a better meal and paid less! There was an overwhelming sense of disorganization and apathy on the part of the staff...when you could find them! Upon returning to the mansion after the wedding, several of my guests found themselves locked out because their keys would not operate the lock. They stood out in the cold and banged on the door until another guest heard them to let them inside! ( Where was the staff?) When brought to the attention of the staff the following morning, we learned that this was not the first time a guest had been locked out....only no one cared enough to fix the problem. I suppose apologizing is cheaper and easier. Lovely decor and well appointed rooms can only go so far........

I have to look him up now because I don't know him. But paraphernalia was everywhere signed and clearly with a lot of appreciation. The bathroom had several sheets of his music. A song called Superstar -- a love song by the lyrics with Bonnie Sheridan -- and another one called the Ballad of Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Appreciative of your age and how great a shape the room was in. That is very comfortable. Room had a console with a velvet chair so it could be used as a desk. I booked The Campbell Hotel because it's promoted as a "historic luxury boutique hotel on Route…read more66." The photos online show a charming, stylish property -- but the reality was very disappointing. Room Condition The room was spacious, but that's about the only positive. The white ottoman was torn, and the sofa had a concerning stain clearly left from a previous guest -- something housekeeping should have addressed before anyone else checked in. The toilet seat was old and discolored, making the bathroom feel unsanitary. Although the bed was comfortable, it was buried under an excessive number of decorative throw pillows. There's nowhere to store them except on the floor, so the room quickly felt cluttered and awkward to navigate. Curtains and Blinds The curtains were extremely heavy and attached to the wall with makeshift wires instead of proper mounts. When I tried to open them, they fell completely off the wall. It looked unsafe and unprofessional -- not what you expect from a "boutique" hotel. Bathroom Issues The bathroom sink has no countertop space at all, leaving no place to set your toiletries. The shower, while large, had visible stains and buildup that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in quite some time -- possibly even mold or mildew. On top of that, the bathroom entrance has a raised step, which is a tripping hazard, especially in low light. Maintenance and Cleanliness The tile floors were dirty and clearly overdue for a deep cleaning. Combined with damaged furniture and broken fixtures, the overall impression was grungy, outdated, and poorly maintained, not historic or high-end. Temperature Control Problems The room uses split A/C and heating units that were nearly impossible to regulate. When I arrived, the room was freezing cold. After turning the heat up, the units wouldn't cool back down or shut off. I had to call the manager around 8 p.m., and even she couldn't figure it out at first. Eventually it was fixed, but it shouldn't take a late-night service call to manage the temperature. Noise and Location Be aware that Route 66 is currently under heavy construction, and if your room faces the street, you'll be woken early by loud equipment and construction noise. It's constant throughout the day and makes resting nearly impossible. ‍ Customer Service When I reported these issues to the manager (John Michael), he said renovations were coming soon. Unfortunately, that doesn't help guests staying now or justify charging boutique-level rates for a room in this condition. Overall Impression I stayed in Room 203 -- The Bama Suite, and it was not comfortable at all. Despite a decent mattress, the experience was overshadowed by dirty surfaces, damaged furniture, unsafe fixtures, noise, and poor upkeep. Until serious renovations and cleaning standards are implemented, I would strongly advise against staying at The Campbell Hotel. It has potential, but right now it's outdated, unclean, and poorly managed.
